I came across this totally by accident on iPlayer having never heard of it before.
Whilst it was funny what I most enjoyed was how comfortable and familiar it was. I felt like I already knew the characters and thoroughly enjoyed watching their exploits.
Hopefully the BBC push this title more as I'm sure it would be a hit with the mainstream audience.

This is my very first review. 'The Tuckers" is a light-hearted family comedy
that hits all the right notes for me. Quirky characters, quirky situations with a
few tugs at the heartstrings. The writing is sharp & the acting is superlative.
Everyone involved should be very proud of their work on this project. (I am not
affiliated in any way with the show.)

Good old Welsh humour at its best. A bit like Stella's first two series before all the characters left and it stopped being funny. Hope this gets a 2nd series and the rest of the UK like it and it becomes a big hit.

Why is it that BBC producers think every white working class family should be portrayed as lovable rogues. This adds various stereotypes for Roma families into the mix, including a fist boxer and a mother who sells flowers and casts curses on those who don't buy.
BBC needs to replace the producers with actual working class people, like Alan Bennet, who understand working class humour beyond this offensive garbage. The UK has a wealth of genuine working class entertainment talent; none of whom came anywhere near this nonsense.

Plenty of laughs, a good all round comedy from the valleys of South Wales. Something to take your mind off the current pandemic and lockdown. Just watched all 6 episodes over 2 nights and looking forward to the next series. Absolutely cracking 👍

This very unfunny show, reinforces the ignorant view that people who live in the South Wales Valleys all know each other and have below average intelligence. The characters are stereotypical and the show is trying to cash in on much better series such as Stella. I'm from the Valleys and this was a cringe fest, it feels as though the writing is deliberately portraying Welsh people in a negative way to poke fun at them rather than to give a positive, realistic representation. I know it's written and produced in Wales, but that's not an excuse for this shambles.
If you're in the U.K. find this on iplayer. This was aired in Wales only whilst England watched King Gary. Genuinely no contest. Steve Spiers career has run in welsh comedy vein like Gavin and Stacy for many years and this is the same subtle but so funny. Delighted to see the BBC has done the right thing and commissioned series 2 & 3

The Tuckers - Series 1
I loved this sitcom it was great.
Like Derry Girls, The Young Offenders, This Country or indeed Just Doing Nothing it was set in a distinctive region of the UK and the humour was distinctively rooted from these places. Of course a comparison with Gavin & Stacey has to be made and this had similar qualities.
I must say this is the BBC at its best and it was so refreshing not to have liberal metropolitan London centric anxieties expressed via comedy, they just trod on every sensibility. Without doubt we are in a golden age of BBC comedy and this alone is worth the licence fee.
What was good
Strong characterisations and a palpable sense of warmth and family.
Short and long themes
Brilliant comedic timing.
Inventive and farsical situations that we could all end up in.
Lovable rogues, very much a current theme.
Rooted in a specific place, can be good, can be bad, but whatever it's distinctive.
We had comedy and pathos this made really good viewing.
What could be problematic
Need a few devices to refresh the format, it is a bit grunge, eg a win on the lottery, forced to take a job, decorate the house etc!
The drama seems to place the viewer on the side of benefit fraud, even in a comedic setting this is nasty.
They need to get out an about a bit more to avoid claustrophobia.
I look forward to series 2

Great selection of actors with a good old warm comedy feel about it.
It's a feel good comedy that makes you think that you're part of the family very clever writing and definitely one not too be missed.
I myself will be rewatching over and over again to get my tucker fix.
