Lakshminarayana Malgudi, a 65 year-old celebrated author who announces his retirement from writing, is at a crossroads in his life. He meets a young girl named Prakruthi, who quits her job and is confused about her next step in life. What happens when they meet & decide to take a road trip together to the beautiful Malnad region of Karnataka? The journey unwinds quite interestingly as we are shown the writer's connection with Malgudi Days.
The film explores the heart warming human relationships that are formed eventually as the time goes by. It also tries to show how the emotions change either due to slight misunderstandings or inane reasons. At another end it takes you down the memory lane where one can reminsce the school memories and endure on a trip of nostalgia! It is similar to the sequence shown in last year's Kannada movie '99' which was also pictured in the beautiful town of Thirtahalli.
The screenplay is decent enough to keep you entertained throughout the end along with a good storyline. However the film feels a bit lengthy as it nears the ending. There are also some inconsistencies in the acting by the newcomers in the film which add to the negatives. The cinematography and music is decently done. The editing could have been better.
There are some issues when it comes to the casting of the film. In the part where the school days are shown, the teacher's role is played by a very young girl. She looks more like a school girl when compared to her students, exactly like those cute kids enacting adult roles in the last year's Kannada film Girmit!
Vijay Raghavendra has given one of his best performances in the movie and he carries the prosthetic looks of a 65 year old quite well. Although the makeup looks a bit unrealistic, the efforts of the film team are laudable. Tulunaada Chakravarti Arjun Kapikad also impresses in his role while Greeshma Sridhar gives a fair performance.
Overall, this movie has its strengths in some parts but falls through in other parts. Nevertheless it does turn out to be a decent one time watch with quite a good amalgamation of relationships & nostalgia!

Overall story go through life journey through expierience. Films feels like too bookish, not made commercial. Director should have thought about commercial elements. lead in old age character may not go well with all the audience.
Plus Vijay Raghavendra some comedies
Minus Story lag in the screenplay bookish language lead in old age character

Seriously, I cannot understand the positive reviews for this one. The story is just ordinary. Performance pathetic. No one has done their job well including the lead. May be 1 or 2 songs were good, but otherwise it was a snooze fest. Miss this one and you won't lose a thing. I really want to see good movies from Kannada film industry, can't just blindly support recycled trash like this.

Poor storyline. First half is too slow. Poor editing and screenplay. They could have worked more on makeover of Vijay Raghavendra. It looks awful. The female lead has done ok job for her first movie. All the performances and techcial work could have been better. A good background score.

I am very upset with the 20 or so reviewers who have given a 10/10 rating for THIS film...
Storyline - very very cliched; This type of story should have been filmed maybe 20 years back
Acting - below average
Makeup - horrible
and they 'tarnished' the Malgudi Days name for such a film?? Very sad.

A tight script and beautiful screenplay shows how modern day storytelling is done. The movie radiates with mesmerising cinematography not only taking you the village of Malgudi but also your childhood memories. Vijay Raghavendra as Lakshminarayana Malgudi has a performed par excellence and brought the character to life like no other. A heart touching attempt by the director Kishor Moodbidri yet again. Wonderful movie overall, a must watch for Kannada movie lovers.
It's a family entertainment movie.

It's got a good storyline and is engaging.. it's refreshing and relaxing as well.. one of the good movies of the KFI recently.. but a better cast for many of the important characters would have made the movie more interesting..

Considering Kishore's(Director) first movie in kannada (his first movie as a director was in Tulu), this is a very good movie. Vijay Raghavendra's acting is worth praising.
