Shunned by local authorities for wanting to stage a political satire, a drama company joins forces with a RAW agent to save the country when an enemy swears to wipe out its existence.

Shortly before bomb-blasts rocked Bombay during 1993, India's Research and Analysis Wing assigns Arjun Rastogi to hilariously infiltrate a dance troupe 'Kalakar Theater Company' in St. Louie, Goa, and enlist their assistance, especially Udayshankar Mazumdar and his wife, Shabnam, in apprehending Haldi Hassan; Qaiyum Cable; a Dubai-based Don; corrupt local police amongst others to try and prevent them from planting RDX-explosives.—rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

Shortly before bomb-blasts rocked Bombay during 1993, India's Research and Analysis Wing assigns Arjun Rastogi (Rahul Bose) to hilariously infiltrate a dance troupe 'Kalakar Theater Company' in St. Louie, Goa, and enlist their assistance, especially Udayshankar Mazumdar (Paresh Rawal) and his wife, Shabnam (Malika Sherawat), in apprehending Haldi Hassan (Kay Kay Menon); Qaiyum Cable (Pavan Malhotra); a Dubai-based Don; corrupt local police ACP Patil (Manoj Joshi) among others to try and prevent them from planting RDX-explosives.

Atmaraam Dubey is the unfortunate director, Champa (Tanaaz Currim) is the makeup assistant. Dubey is writing a play on the nexus between police & underworld but is shut down forcefully by Qaiyum & Patil when they burn his script. To pay the bills Dubey host his hit play Mughal-e-Azam. Arjun attends the show & Shabnam notices him & the flirt that she is, falls for him. Arjun falls in love with Shabnam but finds later that she is Uday's wife. Uday has noticed Arjun in the daily shows but doesn't know that Arjun is having an affair with his wife.

One night Arjun finds Qaiyum talking inside a phone booth about planning a bomb blast & follows him. Qaiyum tries to hide the bomb inside the theatre, but Arjun risks his life to take the bomb outside, where it explodes harmlessly.

It is alleged that Qaiyum is taking orders from a don in Dubai. Arjun reports to RAW that planning is afoot for a much bigger strike on India, for which explosives & RDX have already left Pakistan. But since Arjun is now known to the underworld, he is replaced with another shadow operative non other than Haldi Hasan, who operates under the garb of a Ghazal singer. Unknown to RAW & Arjun, Hasan is a double agent who turned against his country when the Babri Masjid was demolished. When Arjun meets Hasan he quickly figures out that Hasan is a double agent. Hasan has already been given the file on the RAW agents & assets in Goa. To thwart him, Arjun flies to Goa to reach earlier than Hasan & warn the RAW agents. Upon arrival, Arjun is attacked by Qaiyum & Patil.

Arjun reaches out to Shabnam to hook up with Hasan & flirt with him to eke some understanding of what he plans to do next in Goa. Hasan takes a liking to Shabnam & takes her to his apartment where she finds that Hasan plans to hand over the RAW file to Qaiyum the next day. Uday finds out that Shabnam is helping Arjun. At first he is angry, but in the interest of national security, he decides to help Arjun. Uday helps enlist the entire cast of Kalakar theatre. Arjun goes to Hasan in disguise as Qaiyum's man & brings him to a set of Qaiyum's hideout built inside the theatre. Uday acts as Qaiyum, but Hasan finds out the truth. He tries to escape but gets killed under theatre props.

In the meantime Qaiyum's real men arrive at Hasan's room & find Shabnam alone there. Uday dresses up as Hasan & arrives at the room to rescue Shabnam & fetch the photocopy of the RAW file that Hasan had hid in the room. Uday destroys the file, but is taken by Qaiyum's men to meet him. Qaiyum reveals that Don has plans to come to India next day, to distribute the RDX for the Mumbai blasts. He sends Uday away. The next morning Patil informs Qaiyum that Hasan has been found dead in a public park (where the theatre company had left him).

Shabnam is brought to Qaiyum where she finds that Qaiyum knows about Hasan's death. Uday calls Qaiyum as Hasan & Qaiyum asks him to come to the hideout. Shabnam is afraid for Uday's life & begs Arjun to save Uday. Arjun realizes that Shabnam loves Uday. Uday plants a fake beard on Haldi's corpse & proves he is real, when Arjun arrives as Don's special bodyguard & proves to Qaiyum that Uday is a fake Hasan & takes him away.

The gang plans to steal the RDX by blacking out the real Don's meeting & then stealing his car with the RDX. They succeed, but are chased by Patil to the beach where Uday is shot. 6 months later we learn that the team was successful in thwarting the plot & Uday survived.
