“Nightingale,” a new action thriller, was filmed in Bulgaria and takes a dramatic look at the current war between Russia and Ukraine through a dangerous rescue mission lens. Lamonica Garrett plays a former special forces soldier who now works as a private military contractor trying to save his stolen adopted daughter.
The movie, directed by William Kaufman, who is known for making action movies, tries to show how complicated the human stories that come out of foreign conflicts are. Garrett’s character has to go through dangerous areas while trying to save people from Russian forces in a frantic rescue mission.
The movie has a great group cast, with Jason Patric as a CIA handler and Andrew Howard as a former CIA agent who worked in Ukraine. Daniel Bernhardt will play the bad guy, a Russian general in charge of the kidnapping.

“Nightingale,” an action thriller set against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has pulled the curtain back on its ensemble, casting “Special Ops: Lioness” and “1883” star Lamonica Garrett to lead the picture. Jason Patric, Andrew Howard and Daniel Bernhardt are also starring.
The picture comes from producers Isaac Lewis and Andrew Lewis of Denton Film. Low-budget staple William Kaufman is directing the feature, which recently wrapped principal photography in Bulgaria. Kaufman co-write the script with Paul Reichelt, who also serves as executive producer.
Garrett is best known for his roles on “Sons of Anarchy” and “Designated Survivor.” He stars in “Nightingale” as an American Special Forces Operator and private military contractor, who must balance tending to civilian lives while rescuing his adoptive daughter, who is kidnapped and taken hostage by Russian forces in Ukraine. Patric plays a CIA handler with a shared history with Garrett’s character.

If Olivia Benson's learned one thing during her 25 years working for the Special Victims Unit, it's that there's always some disturbing new low perps will hit.
Law & Order: Svu Season 25 Episode 6 featured another group of perps targeting tourists -- and the entitled college boy trope has been done to death too.
Yet this story felt fresh and compelling despite how bizarre the whole thing was.
On the surface, this one fell firmly into the 'too bizarre to believe' camp.
As the cops pointed out several times, these guys drove five hours to find girls to have one-night stands with -- and that was only the beginning of their misconduct.
They had a needlessly complex competition in which they used pins to keep track of who slept with girls from what countries and stolen DNA samples to prove they weren't randomly placing pins without doing the deed.
I guess this is...

This post contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Picard" season 3, up to and including episode 3, "Seventeen Seconds."
The third episode of "Star Trek: Picard" is probably the most uneven one so far in season 3, but at least it has one thing going for it — the full return of Worf, played by Michael Dorn. By now, "Picard" has jettisoned most of its season 1 and 2 cast in favor of a hard reset that is, nominally, giving the fans what they want: a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" reunion. However, one character still kicking around from the first two seasons is Raffi (Michelle Hurd), whose subplot has been largely disconnected from the main action ... until now.
If nothing else, Worf's insertion into this subplot might get old-school "Next Generation" fans to perk up and pay a little more attention to Raffi's scenes, though what they do with Worf in those scenes and whether it's...

A few days ago, I was scrolling through TikTok and saw one featuring Olivia Benson, the beloved star of Law and Order: Svu played by Mariska Hargitay. The TikTok is captioned “#when I say Acab,” and the audio is from Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” “I hope you know, I hope you know/That this has nothing to do with you,” the woman in the TikTok lip-syncs, as if pained to even be mentioning Olivia Benson and anti-cop sentiment in the same breath.

Cate Shortland has left the German settings of “The Berlin Syndrome” behind for a project set in her homeland.

And a looker, too! 2. A Guy Who Kills Bad Guys He may be an assassin, but he's no tool. Peter Quinn is not above defying orders (and threatening the boss) if he doesn't believe in the mission, especially where protecting Carrie is concerned. Is our favorite killer developing a killer crush? Aw. 3. World's Sexiest Bomb Maker Quinn loves making bombs. If the weather is hot enough, he prefers working shirtless. Bless. 4. Creator J.J. Abrams has yet to be confirmed, but additional panelists will be announced at a later date. Last year, the Atx Festival hosted a writers’ room reunion for “The O.C.” that included creator Josh Schwartz.
Also announced this afternoon was a “Parks and Recreation” community screening. For the first five seasons of the festival, the Austin-based event celebrated an Austin-based show: “Friday Night Lights.” But last year marked the final tailgate party / community screening for the beloved series, and festival programmers found a more than fitting replacement in “Parks and Recreation.”

On the surface, “Santa Clarita Diet” should provide a lot for fans to talk about. It’s Drew Barrymore’s first TV show as a series regular. It’s Timothy Olyphant’s first starring role since “Justified” wrapped (and his first time leading a comedy, following a great “Grinder” guest arc). And it’s a Netflix comedy with an eye-opening, jaw-dropping, holy-mother of a twist — right off the bat!
But creator Victor Fresco’s two-time track record for cult favorites cut down too quickly (“Better Off Ted” and “Andy Richter Controls the Universe”) falls short of reaching the trifecta. Even if “Santa Clarita Diet” runs 10 seasons, it would have to change drastically to merit any favored status — cult or otherwise. The story of a married couple who are realtors by day and, well, not realtors by night is far too flawed — in its comedic sensibilities, in its rushed rhythms, and...

The original “24” was never intended to be sensitive entertainment. Kiefer Sutherland’s long-running Fox drama series didn’t aim to set an example for peace-seeking American audiences — not during a time of war. Rather, it served as wish fulfillment for fans deathly afraid of overseas terrorists crossing our borders and attacking our homes. Given its era, the extreme tactics employed by Jack Bauer to protect us were understandable. It’s what America wanted, and, on some level, what we needed: a hero to save us.
This is not the case for “24: Legacy,” a reboot of the ticking-clock action franchise we might want (if only for those ‘member berries) but do not need. Here we have a new special agent running the show, ready to protect us from a fresh batch of “others.” However, the original premiered just two months removed from 9/11; this “24” debuts as America copes with a new...

A few weeks ago, Syfy released the below catch-up video for “The Expanse,” with one of the best conceits imaginable for getting new audiences interested in the sci-fi drama: the events of Season 1, as recreated by cats. (A “recat” video, if you will.)
This video does serve as a relatively basic reminder of the major plot arcs of the first season, but if you think that by watching this you’ll be able to dive into the second season as a new viewer, you probably won’t have much luck understanding what’s going on. “The Expanse” has little interest in easing viewers back into the sprawling and complicated universe it built over the course of Season 1 — because there’s simply too much story to tell.
Set 200 years in the future, when human colonization of Mars and the asteroid belt has opened up vast new resources, but created no shortage of political conflict,...

Ever hear of a little game called Bad Cop/Bad Cop? No? Understandable, as most cop-movie-loving audiences have long been acquainted with the concept of Good Cop/Bad Cop, an idea that John Michael McDonagh’s dark comedy “War on Everyone” pretty gleefully throws right out the metaphorical window.

Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Peña star in the festival favorite (it played to great acclaim at Berlin and SXSW earlier this year) as a pair of corrupt cops who set about blackmailing any criminal who comes across their path (not a bad racket, all things considered), but when they run afoul of a baddie more bad than themselves, things take a very swift turn into far more dangerous territory. *full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by director William Kaufman. Director: William Kaufman. Writer: Chad Law. Cast: Johnny Strong, Lance Henriksen, Louis Mandylor and Chelsea Edmundson. Daylight's End is another collaboration between director William Kaufman (Sinners and Saints) and actor Johnny Strong. This time, events take place in a future world, where a devastating pandemic has turned the world into a haven for murderous cannibals. The film blends a number of genres, with action elements forefront. Meanwhile, Strong's score helps amplify the violent events onscreen. However, the film, admittedly, borrows from several films in the genre. Daylight's End is an exciting feature, in which the focus is on action and less on dramatic characterizations. The story begins with the character Rourke (Strong). Three years after a virus has decimated the world, Rourke is searching for revenge. He seeks the Alpha, a vampiric strongman. His hunt leads him into.

The meltdown began after Joslyn and I sprinted up the side of a giant castle on a hill and right into the dark catacomb cave. Our hearts were racing.

It's amazing to me that it took Canada twenty years to produce Gridlocked, the kind of fun, buddy cop action movie that ran its course by the mid 90's in most territories (and yes, I'm aware of Bon Cop, Bad Cop). Perhaps even more amazing is how this kind of movie - once a mainstream staple - is now considered "indie"! But, here we are, discussing the new action film by director Allan Ungar, which wears its love of 80's and 90's actioners like Lethal Weapon and The Hard Way on its sleeve and ends up being an enjoyable action movie if not particularly unique.
In what I can only assume is a narrative nod to The Hard Way starring James Woods and Michael J. Fox, the film is about a tough-as-nuts cop who's forced to take an arrogant actor under his wing i [Continued ...]...

News from Hollywood, Los Angeles: Liam Neeson is starring in a new action movie. Except it's technically an action-comedy... and it's called The Revenger.
Helmed by Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, there is no official synopsis accompanying the announcement, but it's pretty clear what is going on: the Taken star is taking the mick out of himself.
This follows in the footsteps of Neeson's glorious cameo in Ted 2, where he also has fun with his action persona. Then there's his voice role as Good Cop / Bad Cop in The Lego Movie, which may well be the best thing he's ever done, ever, ever, ever.
It's the leather-jacketed gunning-and-running that's been paying the Oscar-winning actor's bills of late, with his most recent lead roles being in Taken 3 and the all too similar Run All Night.

In India guests are equivalent to God. Not for Celina Jaitly anymore. Her experience of renting out her place in Mumbai to Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber could put anyone off hospitable behavior forever. According to Celina after renting her home, the couple reduced it to shambles and refused to hand back the place to Celina when she needed it the most. "I had to stay in a hotel with my 2 1/2 year old twin sons because Sunny Leone and her husband wouldn't vacate my place. They had no legal ground to keep possession of my home," says Celina sorrowfully. The locks of Celina's home had to be finally broken for Celina to re-possess her home. "And to think that I rented them my home out of compassion. No one was willing to give accommodation to Sunny and her insufferably arrogant and rude husband. I agreed. Only to regret my decision.
