Rohit Shetty earlier wanted to make a film on the same subject with Shah Rukh Khan and Tusshar Kapoor.
Back in 2010 when ShahRukh Khan and Rohit Shetty first started the talks of collaborating on a project they announced the remake of Angoor as their first venture but later on Shetty shelved the script and made Chennai Express instead.
Mithun Chakraborthy, Johnny Lever film "Heeralal Pannalal" was inspired from Shakespear's play Comedy of Errors. It was earlier made as Do Dooni Chaar 1968,Angoor 1982 and Bade Miya Chote Miyan 1998, with same concept of dual characters.

Bosco Martis was all set for the next step in his career with his directorial debut in "Circus". It was supposed to star Kangna Ranaut and Sooraj Pancholi. After Kangna Ranaut backed out of the project, Parineeti Chopra was reported to do the role. Soon, even she quit the project. The project got shelved.
