Earlier this month, it was announced that Platinum Dunes, the production company headed up by Michael Bay and Bradley Fuller, are teaming up with director Jonathan Liebesman – who they previously worked with on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and their 2014 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – to make a werewolf movie called Wolf Night. Now Deadline reports that Wolf Night has found a home at Sony’s Screen Gems.
Michael Bitar is overseeing the project for Screen Gems, while Alex Ginno does the same for Platinum Dunes.
Screen Gems has put out a whole lot of horror movies over the years, with titles including Don’t Breathe, Resident Evil, Underworld, Deliver Us from Evil, The Grudge, Carrie, The Stepfather, Prom Night, The Pope’s Exorcist, Insidious: The Red Door, and the upcoming Tarot. They recently secured a first-look deal with Gary Dauberman, who worked on the...

We had learned about an interesting horror project earlier this month titled Wolf Night, a werewolf movie set to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman. The film has been compared to both District 9 and The Purge… with werewolves… and Deadline brings us a big update this week.
The hot Platinum Dunes package has been picked up by Screen Gems, Deadline informs us, with Michael Bay and Brad Fuller producing Wolf Night for Platinum Dunes.
Will Honley and April Maguire wrote the screenplay for Wolf Night, but aside from the comparisons to the aforementioned movies, the plot is under wraps at this time.
Jonathan Liebesman’s directorial credits over the years also include Rings (2005), The Killing Room (2009), Wrath of the Titans (2012), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).
Will Honley recently wrote Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.
Steven C. Miller’s Werewolves and Larry Fessenden’s Blackout are also headed our way this year,...

The folks at Platinum Dunes, the production company headed up by Michael Bay and Bradley Fuller, clearly love working with director Jonathan Liebesman. After working with Liebesman on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, they had him attached to direct their reboot of Friday the 13th for a while – and even though Liebesman wasn’t at the helm of that one by the time it went into production, they did work with him again, on their 2014 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now, a decade later, Platinum Dunes and Jonathan Liebesman are re-teaming for a werewolf movie called Wolf Night.
Deadline wasn’t able to dig up much information on Wolf Night, but they did learn that the project is being described as “District 9 by way of The Purge“. Will Honley, whose writing credits include Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, wrote the screenplay with April Maguire.

Jonathan Liebesman, who directed remake prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning back in 2006, is attached to direct a werewolf movie for Platinum Dunes titled Wolf Night, and Deadline brings us the first word on the project this afternoon.
We don’t yet have a plot synopsis for Wolf Night but the script from writers Will Honley and April Maguire is said to be “District 9 by way of The Purge –but with werewolves.”
Multiple studios are said to be bidding on the Wolf Night package as we speak.
Michael Bay and Brad Fuller will produce for Platinum Dunes.
Jonathan Liebesman’s directorial credits also include Darkness Falls (2003), Rings (2005), The Killing Room (2009), Wrath of the Titans (2012), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).

Thursday saw the world premiere of the French-made, Korea-set romantic thriller, “Vanishing” at the Busan International Film Festival. Its director Denis Dercourt said that the movie attempts to straddle both cultures.
Adapted from the Peter May novel, “The Killing Room,” the script was in the works for eleven years, according to Alexis Dantec, the film’s producer. Originally slated for launch in 2020, filming was delayed due to the pandemic.
The picture stars Olga Kurylenko, best known for her Bond girl performance in “Quantum of Solace,” and Korea’s Yoo Yeon Seok, whose most recent works include films “Steel Rain 2: Summit” and “New Year Blues,” and Ye Ji-won.
The story follows a forensic scientist (played by Kurylenko) who invented a technique for restoration of damaged corpses. She visits Korea for a conference and upon the request of a Korean police detective (played by Yoo), assists in an investigation. That leads...

Television 360, Endemol Shine Studios and publisher Diogenes are all teaming up for a TV series based on novelist Patricia Highsmith's five-book series about the serial killer character Tom Ripley.
Guymon Casady ("Game of Thrones") and Ben Forkner ("The Killing Room") will executive produce and are aiming to get a major filmmaker and actor onboard the project before they shop it around premium cable networks or streaming services.
The plan with the series is to expand and explore the "depth, sophistication and complexity" of the Tom Ripley character. Both the first book "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and the third book "Ripley's Game" have seen two big screen adaptations a piece, whilst the second novel "Ripley Under Ground" was adapted once. Matt Damon, John Malkovich, Dennis Hopper, Barry Pepper and Alain Delon have all previously played the character.

Playing on our fears of being trapped and alone, the single-location thriller updates old haunted house and home invasion stories to include new, more inventive locations, and it seems that filmmakers haven’t yet run out of ideas of how to scare the living daylights out of us. Some have played on modern fears of corporate meddling or reality television, while others have simply tried to expand their locations to icy prisons and public places.
To celebrate those great genre-bending efforts, here are a dozen and a half of our favorites from the last ten years (with a doff of the cap to Panic Button, a low budget Brit horror that just misses out)…

So there you go, straight from the horse's mouth, Megan Fox is going to be starring in Ninja Turtles, the new Tmnt movie due 2014 being directed by Jonathan Liebesman. Is she going to play April O'Neil? Will that character even be in it? According to Variety, it sounds like she really is playing April. Another follow-up confirmation from Variety states that Megan Fox will be starring as April O'Neil in this newest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes is developing the live-action Tmnt, with Jonathan Liebesman (The Killing Room,...

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Feel The Wrath! Arriving in theaters, in 3D once again, this weekend is Wrath of the Titans, directed by Jonathan Liebesman (The Killing Room, Battle: La), starring Sam Worthington returning again as Perseus, the Greek demi-god. This time he takes on more massive demons, and joins in the fight with the Gods to save the world. How was this sequel compared to Louis Leterrier's remake? How is Worthington, any better? How are the fights, the action, the monsters, the 3D? If you've seen it, leave a comment below with your own thoughts on Liebesman's Wrath of the Titans. To fuel the Chimera's fire this time, I just saw Wrath of the Titans (not in 3D, mind you) and thought it was a fun, entertaining action movie, better than the first one. I liked how gritty the performances were, especially Sam Worthington.

Five years ago, it may have seemed like director Jonathan Liebesman was destined to be stuck doing horror movies after directing Darkness Falls , the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel and the short film "Rings" (bridging the gap between The Ring and its sequel). He even directed a smaller horror movie called The Killing Room , which debuted at Sundance in 2009. None of those things could have prepared anyone for what Liebesman could do when put in charge of a larger scale movie like last year's Battle: Los Angeles , which pitted a platoon of Marines against an alien invasion. Just over a year later and Liebesman is at the helm of Wrath of the Titans , the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster remake which is just as big as Battle: La in terms of action and...

I knew it was a bad sign when it was announced that Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company had taken over the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action reboot a couple of years ago, but I tried my best not to jump to any conclusions. Perhaps this would be their chance to branch out and hire someone other than a music video director or Hollywood jobber to direct one of their uninspired remakes... right? We hadn't really heard much about the project since 2010, and it was starting to look like maybe it would just quietly fade away, which at this point, probably would have been for the best. Alas, this week we have an update on who might direct the film, and it's not a particularly compelling choice: Jonathan Liebesman, director of Battle: Los Angeles and the upcoming Wrath of the Titans. Bossa Nova? More like Chevy Nova. According to Variety,...

Jonathan Liebesman is in talks to direct the new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie. The filmmaker - who is currently finishing off production on fantasy sequel 'Wrath of the Titans' - has opened negotiations with Paramount to helm the reboot of the children's franchise. Although based on the TV cartoon series, the film will be live action just like the 1990 movie which was released at the height of the characters' popularity. The script is being penned by 'M:I4' writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, while Michael Bay - who is responsible for the 'Transformers' series and 'Bad Boys' - will be producing the project. Liebesman's other films include 'Battle: Los Angeles', 'The Killing Room' and 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre:...

The latest collaboration between Content and Preferred Content is The Pact, a genre film that premieres tonight at midnight (at Sundance). The deal comes after Content and Dinerstein teamed for several genre films that have played the midnight program of festivals including Toronto, SXSW, and Sundance. In that scenario Dinerstein would raise the under $2 million budgets, Content would sell international, and Iwashina would sell North American rights.

The relentless and epic first trailer for Warner Brother's "Wrath of the Titans" is now online. The fantasy sequel to 2010's "Clash of the Titans" stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Bill Nighy, Rosamund Pike, Danny Huston, Édgar Ramírez, Matt Milne, Lily James and Toby Kebbell. "Clash of the Titans" was hit with rather mixed to poor reviews on release, but judging from the trailer alone, this sequel from director Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles, The Killing Room) looks far more action packed, with many more mythical beasts than it's dull predecessor. This could be fun. Watch the new trailer for "Wrath of the Titans" below;"Wrath of the Titans" is set for release across the Us and UK from...

Brett Ratner is in the process of prepping up for his next feature film project Hunting Eichman. The film will be much different than his latest comedy heist film Tower Heist in that it's not a comedy at all. Hunting Eichman is a thriller based on the true account of Israeli agents who secretly entered pro-Nazi Argentina to capture Adolph Eichmann, known as the architect of the final solution. Screenwriter Ann Peacock (The Killing Room, The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe) has been hired to write the script.
According to Deadline, "Eichmann had eluded capture for nearly two decades, until the Mossad picked up his trail and dispatched a team of agents to find him. Some of them were Holocaust survivors themselves, and the eight agents risked everything to bring Eichmann back to face trial in Israel, where he was hanged in 1962."

More epic historical action coming our way. Deadline reports that Warner Bros has acquired a pitch for an "epic-sized" story about Roman leader Gaius Julius Caesar, but it is not a biopic. The project is being developed by director Jonathan Liebesman (The Killing Room, Battle Los Angeles, Clash of the Titans 2) from a screenplay by Chris Boal, The Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal's brother. They explain that the "idea is to create a sweeping drama with a big movie star part" and it will of course have plenty of fights, so maybe a bit like 300, but with the Roman empire, as the story focuses on Caesar building the 10th Legion in Spain. The idea for the project, which doesn't have a title but I wouldn't be surprised if it's called Caesar, originally came from Jonathan Liebesman and was developed by Warner Bros producer Basil Iwanyk, who's currently working...
