Seagal was stung by a wasp in his trailer and was very distressed and upset about it. Bizarrely he refused first aid but instead demanded an ambulance to take him to hospital. He didn't return to set for a week, causing scenes to be shot much differently and also using a body double. Despite production problems, the cast and crew was happy to have a week without Seagal on set.
Often considered the role of his career, Steven Seagal was nominated for and received a high school diploma for his performance.
Steven Seagal accepted it as no stunt doubles were required.
Steven Seagal and DMX previously starred in Exit Wounds. (2001)
Producer Kirk Shaw lost all his money while working on this film. Director James Cullen Bressack put Shaw in charge of Seagal's meal preparations, which included an extensive amount of meals from Burger King, McDonald's, and other fast food chains. It is worth noting that his contract for this role meant he had to provide for Seagal whenever he wanted something to eat. As Seagal got hungrier and hungrier, Shaw was constantly driving back and forth from fast food chains to make sure Seagal was happy, leaving Shaw with a maxed out credit card and no money in his wallet. He winded up having to take out loans to buy for his gargantuan meals. Seagal was eating like a king and having a marvelous time filming at the expense of Kirk Shaw. In total, Kirk Shaw spent $6.1 million dollars to pay for his food. Shaw's wife divorced him and took their kids to North Dakota where she married a new man who knows how to manage money responsibly. As a result of his financial troubles during the making of this film, it winded up being his last film as he is no longer with a job, a family (everyone else in his family disowned him for being so financially irresponsible), or a house. He lives on the side of the street in Northern California, dreaming of better days he will never see.
