Sinterklaas en de Liedjespietjes (2019)

Trivia

Sinterklaas en de Liedjespietjes

Edit
In a recent inquiry by SBS ('Shownieuws' and 'Hart van Nederland') it turned out 95 percent of the Netherlands do not want Black Pete changed, which means channel RTL is choosing a different path than most of the Netherlands want.
The complete first season premiered November 1st 2019 on streaming service Videoland.
Despite complaints from viewers and parents, like in its predecessors (the series "Sint en Co" in the years 2016 and 2017, and "De Pepernoten Club" in 2018), the faces of the Black Pieten are not entirely covered in soot.
Despite 95% of the Netherlands being against changing the tradition RTL has censored the traditional songs in this show. For example, a whole sentence about the 'roe' (rod) has been replaced.
The character Swingpiet seems to be a tribute to the character Chefpiet, which made it's debut in 1997 also on a channel of RTL. Starting in 1999 Chefpiet wore a blue with yellow costume, Swingpiet now has a costume in the same colors.
