Ultramechatron Team Go!, currently on the streaming service Dropout, is a parody of giant Japanese fighting robot shows. I loved this.
Since the show is about fighting giant monsters (with a host of entertaining pun names, such as Rodney Cloverfield), one could worry that the show wouldn't have enough material to work with. Be rest assured that this isn't a problem. The show is surprisingly creative and relatively well planned. The writers are just having fun and the audience is taken on a wacky trip.
Dropout is brought to us by the same people behind the YouTube comedy channel College Humor, which spawned Adam Ruins Everything. I'm glad that this show contains five of their best cast members (Mike Trapp, Raphael Chestang, Katie Marovitch, Rekha Shankar, Brennan Le Mulligan). They all do an excellent job in this.
The only weak point is that the show sometimes relies a little too much on jokes about the characters being self-involved or harsh toward one person unnecessarily. It's a little lazy especially given that the Dropout show Troopers from some of the same people also did that exact sort of thing.
Overall, I highly recommend this.
