In a near-future civil-war-torn America, fearless medic Alma sets out on a harrowing quest to find her missing son - crossing into the demilitarized zone of Manhattan, where a ruthless battle for control rages between rival gang leaders.

Set in a near-future America, fractured by a Second Civil War, the story focuses on the titular DMZ (Demilitarized zone) which is a ravaged Manhattan Island. No one goes in, no one comes out. But for medic Alma, who is desperate to find her missing son, it all comes down to her becoming a symbol of hope for the occupants trapped inside the DMZ.
