France's TV viewers will have a second chance to see the Canadian TV series The Line. In fact, this series created by George F. Walker and his creative partner Dani Romain will premiere September 6 on 13ème Rue, a crime-series dedicated cable network from France, at 11 Pm.
Shot entirely on location in Toronto and Scarborough, Ontario, The Line follows two morally ambiguous cops, Max (Ron White) and Donny (Daniel Kash), who take matters into their own hands in an attempt to clean up their neighbourhoods. Having lost interest in conventional police work, Max now opts to implement his own method of dealing with the criminals he pursues, while having an affair with burned out legal aid lawyer Jayne (Sharon Lawrence) who has her ailing father Patrick (Ed Asner) to deal with. Donny treats his job as more of a hobby and prefers to bide his time with drinking and prostitutes and...

Milwaukee - Henry Winkler is not the Fonz.
He played the coolest guy on Happy Days for eleven seasons. But he doesn’t wear a leather jacket, ride a motorcycle or fix things by bumping them with his elbow. He’s not even Italian. He’s got a life that has gone beyond the Fonz. There’s probably a generation that knows him better for Adam Sandler movies and Arrested Development. On a May evening at the Quail Ridge bookstore in Raleigh, there is a group of kids under 12 years old that know him as the author of the Hank Zipzer books (along with co-writer Lin Oliver).
Many stars of the ’70s sell their tawdry memoirs of behind the scenes perversions. Winkler created a young adult book series that taps into grade school life instead of the action in Arnold’s bathroom. We’ll have to wait for lurid tales of the Hooper triplets.

Linda Hamilton, best known for her role as Sarah Connor in 'The Terminator' and 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day', is joining the cast of the award-winning Showtime series 'Weeds'.
The Ausiello Files reports that Hamilton will appear in several episodes of the sixth season, playing an eco-conscious marijuana grower in Seattle, Wa, helping out Nancy, who's on the run from Southern California. The role marks Hamilton's first return to episodic TV since 2008's 'The Line' with Sharon Lawrence, and her casting comes after the news that original cast member Elizabeth Perkins is leaving the show had proved unpopular with fans.
Perkins, who has been nominated multiple times for Emmys and Golden Globes for her role as alcoholic mother-of-two Celia Hodes, announced in May 2010 that she would not be returning for the sixth season. Instead, she will be playing James Marsden...

A few months ago, the first images of the upcoming Canadian TV series Shattered - which was shot in and around Vancouver, B.C. - surfaced on the net. Now, it's the turn of the show's first trailer to do the same thing.
First of all, this show created by Rick Drew is billed as a cross-over between A Beautiful Mind and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Callum Keith Rennie (Californication) plays Ben Sullivan, a homicide detective with a Multiple Personality Disorder. In the first moments of the series, Ben is bonded in blood to his tough and beautiful partner Amy Lynch (Camille Sullivan). While they work to solve the murder cases that cross their desk daily, Ben copes with the fascinating complexities of his disorder that he doesn't want to reveal to anyone (except a psychologist) and the uncertainty of never knowing which alternate personality will surface, or when.

"There Are Some Places In The Universe You Don't Go Alone."
So said the tag line advertising the main feature at London's Odeon Leicester Square in August 1986. The film on show was Aliens, the eagerly anticipated sequel to the 1979 sci-fi horror movie Alien. Fans of the first film had waited a long time to see what new horrors would be inflicted on Alien's heroine, Ellen Ripley, and her beloved cat. Some feared the cat might be the unfortunate host of writer and director James Cameron's new generation of stomach-bursting beasts. The young Canadian director was keeping the truth close to his chest, though.
Despite the secrecy, moviegoers and critics were optimistic that they would get something good from the man who had thrilled them with The Terminator. As one of them, I went to the Odeon Leicester Square to see Aliens one week after it went on general...

At CinemaSpy we get screeners of early episodes of new television series to review. It's particularly satisfying when you get through a batch and want to see more of a show. So it was with The Line, a 15-episode Canadian-made cop drama that is currently airing on The Movie Network, Movie Central and HBO Canada.
The Line is essentially a soap opera that focuses on two dysfunctional detectives, Max (Ron White) and Donny (Daniel Kash), and the people whose lives they touch. Both men have messed-up love lives and their complicated personal relationships interweave with other elements of The Line's plot to produce a tangled, ongoing story that is atypical of conventional police procedural shows.
Max lives with his wife Karen (Yanna McIntosh) but their relationship is crumbling under the weight of their ethnic differences. Hence, he regularly has sex with burned-out legal aid lawyer Jayne Huxley (Sharon Lawrence...

Canadian pay channels double 'Weight'
TORONTO -- Canadian premium pay TV channels the Movie Network and Movie Central on Thursday raised their order for The Weight from eight to 16 episodes, even before the Canadian drama debuts on air.
Toronto-based producer the Nightingale Co. said the pay TV channels doubled their order for the cop drama from the writing duo of George F. Walker and Dani Romain based on dailies from the first season, which started production in August.
"Here we are, in production for only two months, and we feel truly validated by the networks' decision to commit to a second season" of eight episodes, series producer Debbie Nightgale said.
The Canadian pay TV series stars Ron White (Screamers) and Daniel Kash (Cinderella Man) as two cops as damaged and morally ambiguous as the criminals they pursue.
The first season of The Weight is slated to bow on the Movie Network and Movie Central in fall 2008.
The cast for the Canadian series is rounded out by Sharon Lawrence, Linda Hamilton, Edward Asner and Cle Bennett.
