I enjoyed to scenery and (most of) the cinematography. There were, however, too many holes in the story and a lack of continuity in the editing to earn my undivided attention. That said, filmmaking is hard work. I'm sure everyone involved learned a lot as they made this, and will add their experience to their next project.
No profanity, no unnecessary characters or situations, and nothing that would prevent you from sitting down with your kids, your mom, or your grandma to watch this one.
The data shows an estimated $2M budget, and I hope they earned every cent of it back on this scenic endeavor.

Really poor acting, and even worse survival writing. It's weird how they can mess up such a easy scenario. That said the movie had such a good story I still enjoyed it. Worth the watch if you can get around the poor acting and stupid stuff, James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 3/25/2021.
My family enjoyed this because we spent 90 minutes laughing at how TERRIBLE it was. As one of my sons said, it would have been a really short movie if he had just stayed in the boat. The acting was SO BAD, worse than any Hallmark movie I have ever seen. The main character is supposed to be ex-military but my kids said he obviously went to virtual military school. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Had a wonderful time watching this with my little cousins. They especially loved the Dog and the rescue mission aspects of the film. Scenery is lovely. I recommend it for anyone who has a dog and or kids around them.
This is pretty much the worst movie I have ever seen. The story makes no logical sense at all. The acting is terrible. We did get a good laugh.

I'm adult and I loved this movie. The characters are terrific, the scenery is beautiful, and it has a lovely message and story line. I highly recommend this movie for anyone.

The best part of this movie is the scenery and the dog. Actually the best part was when it was over. I must be crazy to have watched it all the way through.

You know how sometimes people will ask, "What's the worst movie you ever saw?" That's the reason you should pay $6 to rent this movie! So your whole family can all scream out in unison, "HERO DOG!"
Worth it.
Worth it.
Horrible acting and painful to watch I can't believe that this movie made it on film. The dog is the only good part of this movie. I had to turn it off an hour into it I couldn't take it anymore. My kids actually decided to go up and go to bed an hour into it.

As far as being lost - nope, just a know straight line couple of hours boat ride between big towns. How sea, air & land rescue teams could do nothing is not too believable. The trekking by our lost & searching peoples seemed artificial. Acting - not required. A few seconds of fire making using wood friction was dumb.
Not staying in the boat - a made for making a movie decision. Oh, thought it might be "based" on a true story - nope.

Such a bland, typical and obvious movie, nothing special, nothing new
and nothing different from a Channel 7 midday movie (If you're from Australia) Or the international equivalent)I'm not giving out any spoilers so that is all I will say.
This movie should be a 3* so that's why I'm giving it 2, just so that it comes down a bit from 6 stars.

This movie is absolute garbage but i've laughed harder at this movie than any other movie i've ever seen. CUE THE TRUMPETS.
Great performances from the cast, and beautiful scenery, combine to make this a very memorable family classic that will be around for years.

In all honesty the only actor who wasn't wooden and less than amateurish was Chinook. However, the scenery was amazing. There were so many events in this movie that anyone in the woods, even a novice would have known better than to do. A fifth grader probably could have done a better job of writing the actors lines than Richard Boddington (sorry Mr. Boddington). Oh my gosh, between the combination of a terrible script and poor acting the movie just keeps getting worse and worse. However, the scenery is amazing. The trailer definitely does not accurately describe how poorly scripted and acted Hero Dog: The Journey Home really is. I've seen better acting from elementary school children. However, the scenery is amazing!

Movies the entire family can watch are rare. Our family loves these sorts of movies. This movie features a wonderful story with a delightful cast. Nice to finally see a movie portray accurate survival skills, especially how to make fire.
