The original name of the film was Freaky Friday the 13th, a reference to the various Freaky Friday (1976) films, about a mother and daughter body swapping, and the Friday the 13th (1980) films.
Vince Vaughn told the stunt driver to actually hit him with the car when he was crossing the street, early in the film. The director said Vaughn said he could take the hit, and he did.

At the football game, Booker's last name of Strode is seen on his jersey. This is a reference to slasher icon Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) of the Halloween (1978) series. In addition, Blumhouse previously made Halloween (2018).
