The portrayal of everyday life in Kavadarci, the wine making region of Macedonia, resembled a home video. Unfortunately, the execution was lacking. Despite the presence of talented actors, the focus seemed to be more on the local language rather than on substance and meaningful dialogue. I watch such films primarily to hear languages that are disappearing from the Balkans, but this one leaned heavily on cheap humor rather than depth. It appeared that this was what appealed to the masses. The camera quality was not the best, especially in indoor lighting conditions. While the sound recording was decent, the editing needed improvement. Overall, many aspects required attention and correction, as this film felt like a missed opportunity.
Macedonians are known for their natural humor, and their conversations often lead to hearty laughter. The dialogues in the film seemed to reflect real-life interactions, but they lacked a sense of believability. The simple storyline of searching for a barrel to store 2,000 kg of grapes for winemaking posed a challenge for the team to sustain interest for the entire 1 hour and 40 minutes. This film seems to cater to a specific audience in a small region (population 38,000), so I view it more as a personal indulgence rather than a piece of art that will be remembered.
