Boxing movies arent all great and neither are faux inspiring movies about *insert tragic medical diagnosis* This is afterschool special stuff at best but actually feels more of a teenage girls fantastical idea than anything resembling a real story.
The dialogue is cringe-worthy.
The lead actor isnt believable as this character at any point. My grandma throws a better punch!
Overacting abounds. The characters are written as stereotypes.
Who am I supposed to root for in this film because the lead character is pathetic not inspiring! The nickname is cringeworthy and the actors sound stupid saying it
Im an excellent reviewer, not an excellent writer but I went ahead and wrote this review so there would be 1 honest review. The only thing worse than this movie are the phony reviews giving it a high rating.
Hey Ma, put the pen down, you're the only one that thinks this movie is good.

Wow - this move is bad. I was excited to watch it with all the great ratings and reviews. What a fool I was. I'm only writing this review because I'm so angry it has such high ratings and I feel a duty to try and change that. This movie is truly awful. The characters are one dimensional cliches - central character with an incurable disease and deep family trauma - check, struggling single mother with smart and beautiful daughter - check, bully ex- boyfriend of said single mother - check, elderly coach with drinking problem - check, tough, but wise and caring gym owner who takes central character under her wing ( oh and she's a recovering addict too of course) - check. The script and plot were unimaginative, wooden and utterly predictable. If you told me ChatGPT had written it I would not be surprised. Even the music was poorly chosen and never seemed to match the tone of the scenes. I'm sure a bunch of people will watch this because of the great reviews, but if you do and you hate it, don't say I didn't warn you!!!!

Great story about an obese man down on his luck and getting unluckier; he just found out he has multiple sclerosis. He quit his job and moves in with his brother, but life continues to go downhill. Until he walks into a gym that trains boxers. Mesmerized with the lifestyle, he gets a job there, in return for the gym owner to train him. Magically things start to get better, as Bobby starts to lose weight and gets healthier.
Tim Realbuto is phenomenal and inspirational as Bobby "Bobcat" Moretti. He actually loses over 100 pounds for the part, and the transformation is amazing. He is the underdog at the beginning of the movie and then becomes the hero. His character is extremely likable, and you want to root for him to win because he's such a hard worker and doesn't believe in giving up.
The film also stars Vivica Fox, who is powerful as the gym owner who helps Bobby in his transformation. The chemistry between the two is beautifully authentic and they become friends, and the gym becomes his home. Vivica is strong, but has empathy for Bobby and is able to push him, knowing she can help him. She owns this part!
Excellent directing by Rob Margolies, the story brings you in and keeps you riveted until the last scene. This is a feel good movie that people will want to watch again and again. The story shows that even when the chips are down, there is a way up, no matter what life throws at you. Very inspiring.

Rob Margolies' 'Bobcat Moretti' is a compelling film telling the story of an obese MS patient (played by Tim Realbuto) who finds his way to his late father's gym and begins training as a boxer. Along the way, we learn that he has suffered immense personal tragedy in his life and is struggling to find a way to deal with it and achieve balance and inner peace.
The screenplay was artfully written by Rob Margolies and Tim Realbuto and tells Bobby 'Bobcat' Moretti's story with authenticity, transparency, empathy, and grace. Tim's performance is stellar. He actually lost 154 pounds during filming over the course of a year. He truly became Bobby Moretti as he dug into the role.
The film features a large cast in supporting roles. Standout performances were given by Vivica Fox as the no-nonsense gym owner Joanne 'Jo' Wallis, Sheria Irving as the tough fellow boxer Lacy 'Boots' Harris, Jay Hieron as a celebrated boxer Tony Pinto, Matt Peters as Bobby's brother Charlie Moretti, Taryn Manning as Bobby's sister-in-law Debra Moretti, and Louis Mustillo as trainer Carmine.
Cinematography by Andressa Cordeiro was expertly and artfully executed. Fight sequences choreographed by stunt coordinator Jay Hieron were well done and very realistic. Editing by Taylor Brusky created the right pace for the film and supported storytelling very well. The score by Ilan Rubin perfectly supported and elevated an already amazing film. Source music selected for the film was perfectly paired and included tracks by composer Ilan Rubin, such as "Sweet Kind of Suffering" and "You Can Be (Whoever You Want to Be)" played during the end credits.
In short, this film elevates the human spirit and is well worth watching.

I enjoyed this film so much! Vivica Fox gives a career best performance. Watching Tim Realbuto's transformation is cinematically incredible. The waves of emotions I had while watching really hit home. It really is an underdog story. Tarryn Manning and Matt Peters were so good. A great cast of many familiar faces. Nice to see Coolio in this movie as well. This is one of those movies where you really root for the main character. You can feel his pain and sorrow. Tim Realbuto deserves to win some major awards for his stellar performance. I highly recommend this little movie that packs a punch! A must see!

Most studio films aren't nearly as good as this gem. I was so inspired and blown away by the cast, especially relative newcomer Tim Realbuto who is giving an award winning performance in a very difficult role, and Vivica A. Fox who has never been better! What a treat! Everyone must see this one. I was lucky enough to rent it on VUDU and I'm going to buy it now so I can enjoy it again and again. It was so nice to see Coolio, Mindy Sterling and even Taryn Manning who was excellent. Do not miss this touching masterpiece. It truly is nice to see films like this being made during the strike. It's such a treat to see truly great indie filmmaking. Bravo to the entire cast, and director Rob Margolies for making something so special and memorable.

It is an incredible movie, even though there are a few tiny flaws, like the lead not being an actual boxer though he gave it his all and committed. But no movie is perfect. But the acting is top notch and I did not know where this story was going. I would call it a dramatic mystery in all honesty. I also loved ROCKY, but Bobcat Moretti has more intrigue than Rocky. They both have equal amount of heart. Rocky has the romance and Bobcat Moretti has inspiration and likely to move the whole family. My 13-year-old was not excited to see it at first, but loved it and was riveted by the end.
We rented it on VUDU. Looked great! And then I bought it after because I knew I would want to watch it again for the mystery and to see if clues were planted by the director.

An inspiring and emotional journey as a young man discovers who he truly is and what he is capable of. Tim Realbuto's transformation is legendary and made me realize that I need to try harder (in basically all aspects of life). Incredible performances by a stellar supporting cast. Vivica A. Fox shines as the trainer, Taryn Manning and Matt Peters are sublime talents, and there's even a cameo by Coolio! Solid casting and another gem by writer/director Rob Margolies. I was lucky enough to see a screening at the Orlando Film Festival and highly recommend that you catch it any chance you get. It's going to tug on your heart strings but a little catharsis is good for your soul.
Bobcat Moretti was very enjoyable to watch. The characters were well developed and relatable with compelling story arcs. The production value was great, such as the sound and music and the production design and there was a very nice variety of shots. I found myself really rooting for the main character. He has some problems (not all to be revealed here) and he battles onward. It is known (not a spoiler) that the lead lost way over 100 pounds. What a commitment! But that isn't the only commitment - imagine the logistics of having to pause the production while weight loss is happening and then pick it back up so smoothly. Kudos to this team.

Don't get me wrong, I love sports films, especially films about boxers. And Bobcat Moretti has all of the iconography that makes films about a boxer coming into their own such an exciting genre.
But it's not just a film about a boxer. I'd categorize it with the great melodramas like Rebel Without a Cause where you really see the main character go through it and, somehow, when it's over, you feel a lump in your throat and you feel like you've been through something too and come out the other side.
Wonderful, emotional performances from Tim Realbuto and the rest of the cast! The film brings together Realbuto, Vivica A. Fox, Sally Kirkland, and Matt Peters. The script and direction are impressive.

First Off-Tim Realbuto is an absolutely, naturally talented actor! The writing and filming were beautifully done. To watch the tragedy unfold of what this character had to endure and push through, was extremely gut wrenching. And at the same time, inspiring. In real life-a human would absolutely give up their fight. But Bobcat, while struggling with all that life hit him with-kept fighting. Luckily-he had people like Vivica Fox pushing him and fighting with him- with encouragement and a family that loved him. I loved the time laps transformation of Bobcat and the mixed bag of characters that also had their share of trauma and problems of their own. But it was within these characters and their storylines that helped to make a well rounded and truly impactful film.
