Am I a total fool if I enjoyed this?
I am, to say the least, very confused with myself.
Yes, because I love good cinema and this is not it.
This said, Airplane Mode is, in my humble opinion, a totally enjoyable movie, never boring, incredibly predictable, but still, I can't give it less than a solid 6!
Maybe the fact that the italian dubbing is decent? Maybe the story has something original in it, that kept me from leaving? I can't say for sure.
So yeah, a solid 6, don't judge me.
Now I have to watch Citizen Kane or something, to redeem myself.

The plot was weak, but the main character is cute. I guess the target audience are young people. I'm confused with some reviews believing the movie is set in the US, it's clearly set in Brazil. It's just that it's a banal story about a rich teen addicted to social media, instead of poverty and slums. Also, to the foreign audiences: please do learn how to read subtitles!!!

Excellent comedy about the social media era flaws and risks. Well performed, satirical and touching at equal levels.

If it weren't for the actors and their likeability, you might find this even worse. Not that this is amazing or anything, quite cliche to be honest. But you should expect that with a movie and a story like that. This is aimed at a younger audience with some social commentary thrown in for good measure.
You know where this is heading, you should also be able to be way ahead of the "twist" of the movie too, without having read about it. Small, simple and can be fun, if you have low expectations and just go with it

First time i watched it i like it but the second time i watched it i got annoyed because i realised the mouth movement don't match and i only watched it because i got bored n i 'liked' it but yeah don't watch it if u get annoyed easily :(
It's painful. I literally just created an account here to leave this review, that's how bad it was. Just avoid watching it

The movie is cute, but the overacting of the "villains" was a bit painful and the storyline was very predictable.
I did enjoy the MC and she was believable. Though most of my issues could be from the dubbing instead of having subtitles.

This is a moronic brain dead cliche-fest. Every cliche in the book- spoiled rich girl? Check. Indulgent ineffective parents? Check. Superficial media lifestyle? Check. Kid who reflects to take any responsibility for actions? Check. Thick boyfriend? Check. Evil witch boss? Check. Grumpy grandfather? Check. Can't bear to watch any more but can already predict a "true" love connection with local. Check. It is a truly dreadful waste of energy and time. Don't waste your brain cells
It was a typical teen/family movie with a predictable storyline.. and I actually enjoyed it :)

Watched it after some minutes of releasing on Netflix, what makes me appreciate the movie more is the idea of that our relation with social media isn't well, and that making a distance with it maybmake our lives better!
Painful. Cringe. Sad. Bad. Awful. Nothing to see. Dead.
The worst movie I've ever seen. I will skip the "Netflix and chill" part with my girfriend if she asks me to watch this movie again.

This is truly the worst movie Ive ever seen. Don't watch it, you're just gonna waste your time. I'd rather sit on a again and look at a white wall, then watch this movie Again. Everything amateur and so boring. How can this be a netflix movie???

The script feels like the first draft. The love interest is brain-dead obvious. How did she go from being a social media influence to a Fashion designer. Plot lines get introduced halfway through the movie.

Predictable, but surprisingly lovely story. I expected trash before watching and ended up with a nice and enjoyable little film. Lead actress Larissa Manoela (who's incredibly successful on Instagram in real life as well) brings her stereotyped role to life.

This is only the second Brazilian movie I watched, so I went in blind, but the plot is refreshing, albeit predictable. For a feel-good movie, it does its part which is the point, I guess.
P.S. Social media detoxing is harder than it seems.

I'm fairly new to Netflix and have been reasonably pleased with it until now. Airplane Mode (the title has nothing to do with the content) is a foreign language movie really badly dubbed into English. Its only redeeming feature is a pretty leading lady. The plot is ludicrous, it's full of more unpleasant stereotypes than the average pantomime (even the leading character fits that bill for much of the time) the acting is wooden and the script and dubbing dreadful.I found myself distracted , watching the mouth movements that weren't remotely synced to the sound track. Apparently it's a Brazilian movie but supposedly set in the USA. I think Netflix should be honest and post a notice at the beginning of any such movie to the effect that it is a foreign language film dubbed into English.

The movie's whole meaning is about how this new generation is dealing with social media, and how elderly people see this life of being connected all the time. I think it is a important subject, and it surely caught the audience's attention, since it is the most watched Netflix's non-english movie!!!
The best thing this movie did was to choose those actors. Larissa Manoela is one of the biggest brazilian pop-stars (and a really gentle and humble one), meanwhile Erasmo Carlos is a symbol of the past generations as a brazilian rock idol. Therefore, I think the characters go well with there own personalities and this improved their performance even more.
Of course, the whole script was predictable, sometimes a bit cliche, but who does not like some cliche sometimes? Besides, it is obviously made for teens, and this kind of audience enjoys this type of production very well.
Anyway, the movie had an interesting plot, and is debatable, well-produced (for brazilian standards), and VERY entertaining for sure. I would recommend for any kid to watch (but also my gradma).

Cliché story, cliché acting, no imagination in the scenario (predictable from beginning to end).
This is an empty shell with a nice poster... a bit like a real life influencer ;-).
I'm sure I lost some braincells while watching.
If you are older than 12, just do not watch this ;-)

Deep story about character building and the formation of being. Here is a work in which artistic practice (she was a stylist) describes the most intimate nuances of suburban youth. Love and affection increase how the bonds of affection are created by creating a look at oneself, within a community of meaning and feeling.

I think the movie has a great plot and a good storyline. The characters are spot on and really portray their roles. This movie would be ideal for teen and tweens specifically. I would recommend this movie to that specific age group because anyone older or younger is most likely not going to be interested. Although the movie is quite good, Netflix has the sound of the characters voices completely off to when they move their mouths, so you may get frustrated. This movie has been out for a long period of time, and Netflix has still not fixed this problem. So in conclusion, the movie is highly recommended, but if you will get frustrated with the sound, you may only want to watch it once.

This is another Netflix original. The movie is in Portuguese but Netflix had an English dubbed version too. The plot is about a social media influencer crashing her car while talking to someone on her phone. She is forced to go to her grandpa's where there is no reception for detention. This is another boring plot with no capability to engage the audience. There is a lot of horrible acting and weird situations. I would not recommend watching this. But that is completely my opinion. You might like it as well.

This was SO dumb...the plot was WEAK. The acting all seemed way too pushed, it wasn't real enough. Don't waste your time on this film.
