This is the second attempt to adapt the original "Freak Brothers" comics to animation. The first was an unfinished stop-motion film called "Grass Roots"
Many famous artist albums have gotten a redraw in The Freak Brothers style; some famous ones include The Velvet Underground & Nico and the white album.
Based on the The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics of the 1970s, in late 2021, streaming service Tubi sought out to adapt the animated franchise into a cartoon series once and for all, as one of only a handful of Tubi original TV shows. The first season would air for free on the platform, with a second coming less than 2 years later. As of 2024, a third season has yet to be confirmed.
