Fox has finally revealed its schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 television season, as well as premiere dates. Networks typically release their fall schedules during the May upfronts but Fox held off because negotiations were still underway regarding the futures of two established drama series -- 9-1-1 and The Resident (both were renewed).
New and returning Fox shows airing this fall are 9-1-1, Bob's Burgers, Call Me Kat, The Cleaning Lady, Family Guy, Friday Night SmackDown, The Great North, Hell's Kitchen, Lego Masters, The Masked Singer, Monarch, The Resident, The Simpsons, and Welcome to Flatch.
Airing later in the season will be 9-1-1: Lone Star, Accused, Alert, Beat Shazam, Crime Scene Kitchen, Don't Forget the Lyrics!, Fantasy Island, Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars, Grimsburg, Housebroken, Krapopolis, MasterChef, and Next Level Chef.

A night of scripted finales was overshadowed by Game 4 of the NBA Playoffs on Monday, as the Boston Celtics blew out the Miami Heat to tie up the Eastern Conference finals. The Celtics’ 102-82 win scored a whopping 1.93 demo rating and 6.4 million total viewers on ABC. CBS still outperformed in terms of total viewers, though. The Season 19 finale of “NCIS” was the most-watched individual show of the night, with 7.5 million total viewers at 9 (and a 0.5 demo rating). The CW also saw strong numbers for the Season 4 finale of “All American” and the Season 1 finale of the spin-off, “All American: Homecoming.” The original series had its most-watched telecast since March, with 669,000 people tuning in. The episode also saw a jump in ratings, with a 0.19 in the demo. “Homecoming” hit a series high of 496,000 total viewers and got a 0.14 demo rating. Over on Fox, two music-themed game shows premiered on Monday: “Don’t Forget the Lyrics!...

CBS’ Monday slate had a fairly good night with nearly all series ticking up in both demo rating and viewership for their season finales.
On Monday, CBS bid farewell to the current seasons of The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i. All titles were up in both measures from the previous week, except for The Neighborhood which was steady in the demo. Of CBS’ Monday slate, NCIS was the highest-rated program. The drama, which delivered a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 7.19 million viewers, also marked the night’s most-watched program overall. Throughout its season, NCIS was a stable performer only dipping two tenths in the demo and about 1 million viewers from its premiere

‘American Idol’ Dominates Finale-Filled Sunday; Fox’s Animation Slate Mostly Stable In Season Enders
Sunday night belonged only to American Idol as the singing competition dominated primetime ratings and viewership.
American Idol delivered a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.60 million viewers per fast affiliates. While holding Sunday’s top rating isn’t necessarily a new feat for the ABC singing competition, Idol bested usual audience winner 60 Minutes. American Idol Season 20 concluded with Noah Thompson taking the crown. The latest season of the ABC competition showed decent retention, falling only two-tenths in the demo and about 7 in viewers from its season premiere. ABC kicked off its evening with the season ender of America’s Funniest Home Videos, which rose from its premiere in October. At 7 p.m., Afv came second only the final hour of the 2022 PGA Championship.

Fantasy Island and Lego Masters are moving from Fox’s summer schedule to in-season.
The low-cost drama and the Will Arnett-hosted unscripted series were previously set to launch on May 31. However, this morning with the reveal of Fox’s latest slate, the two shows are being pushed to later in the season.
“There’s some great moments where you start to see what you’ve got in the can and they came in so good,” Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said, speaking on its pre-upfront call. “We’re so blessed to have such a hefty returning slate and great choices to make.”
Michael Thorn, President of Entertainment at Fox, added, “Fantasy Island is really a stand out for us and we’ve lined up some incredible guest stars for this season. It’s really fun and escapist and we can’t wait to have that back on our air.

RDF Media USA CEO Chris Coelen is leaving the company after four years.
The news was announced internally Thursday morning.
Coelen's exit comes as a surprise since he helped build Rdf's U.S. outpost into a formidable supplier for the past four years.
He had significantly expanded operations with a string of hires of senior executives over the past year, most recently leading ITV entertainment executive Natalka Znak, the co-creator and executive producer of ITV1 reality hits "Hell's Kitchen" and "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" whose appointment as executive vp at RDF USA was announced Thursday morning, hours before Coelen's resignation.
Under Coelen, RDF Media USA, the company behind ABC's veteran "Wife Swap," has produced such reality series as "Secret Millionaire" and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" for Fox, "Find My Family" for ABC, as well as cable shows "Addicted to Beauty," "How to Look Good Naked" and...

London -- In his first major hire since taking the reigns as controller of Sky One on May 5, Stuart Murphy has hired former ITV and ABC executive Duncan Gray as temporary commissioner of entertainment, beginning June 1.
Gray will cover the maternity leave period for Sky exec Andrea Hamilton.
Sky will be looking for a roster of new entertainment programs after Murphy cancelled two of his predecessor Richard Woolfe's biggest entertainment shows.
Murphy said he had opted to axe the Shine-produced "Gladiators" and Rdf Media's "Don't Forget The Lyrics" because he was looking to make newer fare and new genres such as comedy part of the Sky One mix.

'Idol' slips; Fox doesn't miss a beat
Despite American Idol taking some well-publicized ratings hits, Fox won its 15th consecutive week in the Nielsens and actually managed to exceed last year's performance.
Idol is most definitely down, with Tuesday's edition hitting a five-year-low (23.7 million, 8.8 rating in adults 18-49 rating and a 23 share) and on Wednesday falling to a four-year low (23.3 million, 8.8/22).
Yet Fox was up 8% in the demo for the week ending April 20 thanks partly to a more sturdy Thursday lineup this season -- Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (9.2 million, 2.5/8) and Don't Forget the Lyrics (9.3 million, 3.1/8) -- and a strong performance by its in-season edition of Hell's Kitchen (10.6 million, 4.7/12).
On the scripted side, however, Fox's New Amsterdam (6.6 million, 2.0/5) had a finale that's assumed to be the series' last episode.
NBC unexpectedly edged CBS for second place for the week. The Peacock was led by The Office (9.9 million, 5.0/13) winning Thursday night amid mostly repeats in the 9 p.m.

New 'Office' supplies season high
NBC returned to an all-original lineup Thursday night, highlighted by the much-anticipated resumption of The Office.
Most of the network's comedies were roughly on par with their pre-strike averages, but The Office spiked to deliver its highest rating since the show's fall season premiere (9.2 million, 4.8/12). At 8 p.m., My Name Is Earl (7 million, 3.0/9) and return of 30 Rock (5.7 million, 2.7/7) were down slightly from their averages as they were up against an American Idol results show. The return of comedy Scrubs at 9:30 was up 6% (6.6 million, 3.4/8). At 10 p.m., the return of "ER" was down 14% to match its all-time low (5.9 million, 3.1/8).
NBC came in third place overall, with Fox in first place airing a special American Idol results show (20 million, 6.8/19), which matched Wednesday's Idol Gives Back event. After, an episode of Don't Forget the Lyrics performed strong (10.9 million, 4.0/10).
In second place, CBS aired a series low Survivor: Micronesia (11.7 million, 3.8/11). "CSI" was down a couple ticks from last week's return to originals (20 million, 5.7/14), but effectively matched Idol as the most-viewed show of night.

'Lost' drops to season low; 'Idol' boosts 'Lyrics'
Critics and fans are praising this season of ABC's "Lost", yet ratings continue to erode. The drama hit a season low Thursday, as did NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" in the same time period.
Fox's ever-dominant "American Idol" was up slightly from last week's results show debut and gave another series high to "Don't Forget the Lyrics".
According to preliminary Nielsen ratings, Fox won the night among total viewers (20.2 million) and adults 18 to 49 (2.5/6). "Idol" (25.9 million, 9.1/24) was up 7% week-to-week, followed by "Lyrics" (14.6 million, 5.2/13).
CBS edged out ABC for second place, with "Survivor: Micronesia" (14.6 million, 4.2/11), rallying slightly after last week's series low, followed by repeats.
In third, ABC had a repeat, followed by "Lost" (12.9 million, 5.4/13) and "Eli Stone" (7.5 million, 2.7/7) -- the latter winning the 10 p.m. hour.
After a repeat, fourth-place NBC had "Apprentice" (7.6 million, 3.1/8) and "Lipstick Jungle" (5.7 million, 2.5/7).
The CW aired repeats.

'Lyrics' launching online game
The Fox primetime series Don't Forget the Lyrics will get some casting help from a new companion online game being developed by the show's producers, RDF USA.
Part of the game, which will be available on Fox.com, allows players to upload video of themselves singing; submissions will in turn be reviewed by the show's producers for consideration as future on-air contestants.
The Lyrics game is one of two such properties being developed by RDF, which plans to make casual games a new area for the company to explore. RDF is also at work on a mobile game to accompany the A&E series The Two Coreys.
"This is a natural extension for us as we continue to explore ways to maximize the value of our show brands," said Max Benator, head of digital media for RDF USA. "Any production company that wants to survive in this changing media landscape should be creating for as many platforms as possible - and I'm glad we're finding successes in doing that."...

'Dance,' 'Lyrics' a winning combo for Fox
NEW YORK -- Fox won Wednesday's primetime with So You Think You Can Dance plus a good premiere of Don't Forget the Lyrics.
Lyrics might not have hit the same high notes as NBC's Singing Bee the night before, but it didn't do too badly either. It was the night's highest-rated program, with 8.1 million viewers and a 3.4 rating/10 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates released Thursday by Nielsen Media Research.
It improved upon Dance ( 8.4 million, 3.0/10), which also won its time period between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. That was ahead of NBC's America's Got Talent (7.5 million, 2.6/8), which was its lowest rating so far this season.
ABC got a second-place finish at 8 p.m. with The Next Best Thing (7.1 million, 2.0/7) but fell at 9 p.m. with American Inventor (5.7 million, 2.0/6).
The 10 p.m. hour went to Last Comic Standing (6.9 million, 2.9/9) in adults 18-49 and to a repeat CSI: NY (8.6 million, 2.3/7) in viewership, while ABC's drama Traveler (3.5 million, 1.2/3) continued to fade away.
