I must admit that I attempted twice to commence watching this film and was not initially grabed due to a preconceived thought of the opening scene.
However, upon settling in today with an intentional viewing, I must say that "Chocolate Kiss" definitely hit a nice spot in the sweet tooth. I loved this high school love turned of age,, mild seduction of the desire to be loved and healed pass the grieving spirit.
This was such an important act of just wanting to be honest and correct our character flaws from adolescent caricatures of who we pretend to be. How could we forget the ever present inception of friends that lend their unprofessional advice of who, what, when, where, why, and even how we should proceed in the search of happiness, nearly costing or even costing us true love, despite some minor obstacles.
I love the fact that the film did not commit to overkill the storyline with sexual escapades to cheat viewers out of innocent living. The actors displayed a charm and wit that were true to life and vibrant within the realm of what some of their real life experiences may have been on the subject matter.
It was good to see that the love interest was not the Hollywood ideal of hero guy being chiseled to overreaction. This provided a real life look into ordinary people in ordinary situations of daily living as we stumble across souls and spirits attracted to and fulfilling the depths of one's heart.
I definitely favor and look forward to more from this cast and crew.
