For a day with a hard and stressful deadline, Tristar’s One of Them Days starring music artist Sza and Keke Palmer has a soundtrack that reduces stress and emphasizes the comedy of the film.
The premise hinges on Palmer’s Dreux and Sza’s Alyssa, two roommates who find themselves scrambling for rent money when Alyssa’s boyfriend Keshawn (Joshua David Neal) took their original payment to try out a creative endeavor. Their landlord Uche (Rizi Timane) comes knocking with the threat that if they can’t come up with $1,500 by 6 p.m., they’ll be evicted.
The film also includes appearances from Lil Rel Howery, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Janelle James, Cabrielle Dennis, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Amin Joseph, Patrick Cage and more.

Even though UFC 5 has now been out for over a year, I'm still playing the game and having fun with it. As one of the only good recent combat sports games that has come out, it's managed to scratch the combat-sports gaming itch that I have as both a boxing and Mma fan. With the demise of the Fight Night franchise and seemingly no other development team willing to enter the arena, right now, in terms of the genre, all I have is UFC 5.
And while I've explored nearly everything the game has to offer, from trying to muster enough stats for my pitiful online career to betting on every upcoming UFC event, I've, for the most part, stayed away from the tournament mode. I don't tend to play Xbox games with friends, so typically, I stick to the weekly challenges, career, and ranked online modes — but tournament mode was calling my name,...

Limited series writers have one big advantage over scribes working on recurring series: They can build to a big, flashy ending without worrying about what to do next season.
“Limited gives us that opportunity to just be like — leave them wanting more. We’re out. Mic drop, we’re done,” said Marco Ramirez, executive producer and showrunner of the upcoming Hulu limited series “La Maquina,” set in the world of boxing in Mexico.
Ramirez was one of five writer-producers who gathered Thursday night at the London Hotel in West Hollywood for a lively conversation that was part of Variety’s A Night in the Writers Room: Awards Season Edition event.
The scribes discussed the idiosyncracies of working in the format. Shaye Ogbonna, creator, executive producer and showrunner of Peacock’s “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” said the rising demand for limited series during the height of the Peak TV...

The video game industry is constantly evolving, and one genre that doesn’t see many new features is the sports genre. While games like UFC 5 and WWE 2K24 focus on delivering flashy visuals and the latest athletes, they miss the small wins sometimes. One game that’s tried something new and cool is Undisputed, a boxing game by Steel City Interactive.

For “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” costume designer Ernesto Martinez, the reality of the fact-based story of an armed robbery in the aftermath of Muhammad Ali’s 1970 comeback fight in Atlanta was merely the starting point for his craftsmanship on the Peacock limited series.
“I had free range to design every character in a way that felt like Atlanta – but a very fashionable Atlanta with a lot of money and a lot of gangsters,” Martinez tells Gold Derby during our Meet the Experts: TV Costume Designers panel. “So I went out of the box, and decided that each character should come from different places of the world and dress very unconventionally – dress how people would think they would dress in Atlanta in the 1970s.”

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.
The ending of Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist finally clears up who was behind the infamous Atlanta robbery. Fight Night is based on the true story of a real-life armed robbery that was orchestrated in Atlanta on the night of Muhammed Ali's controversial return to boxing as an adamant opponent of the Vietnam War in 1970. The Peacock original series was based on the 2020 podcast of the same name and was adapted for television by Shaye Ogbanna, whose other writing credits include God's Country (2022), The Chi (2022), and The Penguin episode 5 (2024).
Fight Night features an exceptional cast led by Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, and Terrence Howard. After Hart's Gordon "Chicken Man" Williams sets up an exclusive afterparty for some of the nation's most high-profile gangsters, things go sideways when the event becomes a hoax for an elaborate robbery.

It's been a while since I could say that a game legitimately got much worse once it exited beta on PC for its full launch for consoles, but the Undisputed 1.0 launch has been worse than underwhelming for me; it's become downright unplayable. While I've enjoyed the updates to the career mode, the online multiplayer portion of the title something that I used to enjoy, has devolved into something that doesn't resemble the Sweet Science anymore.
Although it appears that the developers of the game, Steel City Interactive, are aware of the serious game-breaking issues, it doesn't look like there's a proper sense of urgency in an industry lacking any real boxing game competition. As it stands, I think I'll stop playing what was supposed to be a Fight Night rival after investing 162 hours into the game, at least until things are fixed.

UFC’s biggest star, Conor McGregor, who was cast as characters in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and a Hitman Dlc earlier this year, is considering creating his own action game, which, with the correct developer and studio, could one day compete with EA Sports UFC.

Throughout his career, McGregor has competed in mixed martial arts (Mma) and boxing once. I've been playing the PC game version of Undisputed since its earliest beta on Steam, and while I was happy to hear it was finally coming to consoles in its 1.0 release, it's also committing a major gaming sin that I think could actually have a more cascading effect on its success. Developed by Steel City Studios out of Sheffield, UK, the new boxing title has a lot going for it, but it's important it doesn't get knocked down in these first few rounds if it wants to become a true contender to the Fight Night franchise.
Sitting with pretty disappointing overall "Mixed" reviews on Steam and lackluster reviews on consoles, even Canelo's star power isn't strong enough to save what some are considering a bad game. The introduction of a day-one Dlc called the Wbc Pack will only continue to hinder the success of the game or spell the end of the project altogether,...

For Shaye Ogbonna, assembling an A-list roster of talent for “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” was a blessing for which he cannot take any credit.
“They wouldn’t do it if the material wasn’t great,” the series creator humbly told TheWrap of working with stars like Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Chloe Bailey, Don Cheadle and Taraji P. Henson.
The Peacock limited series outlines the true story of how an Atlanta after-party for Muhammad Ali’s 1970 comeback fight turned into a million dollar robbery, involving some of the biggest Black gangsters and money-movers in the nation.
Ogbonna believed this story would be an opportunity to highlight the origins of how the heist established his hometown of Atlanta as the “Black Mecca.” The writer-producer also saw the potential for some of the biggest Black actors in the business to skyrocket this project to another level.

[This story contains major spoilers from the series finale of Fight Night.]
Kevin Hart’s Chicken Man is on the ground, breathing hard in fear, as Samuel L. Jackson’s badass gangster Frank Moten, known as the Black Godfather, holds a gun.

When you talk about Mma simulation titles, you can never go past EA Sports UFC. This franchise began its reign in this genre in 2014 after Thq’s immense success with UFC Undisputed. EA even went on to hold its highly popular Fight Night boxing simulation franchise to begin this Mma simulator franchise.

The Mma simulation title from EA marked its 5th installment in 2023, which is by far probably the best Mma game in terms of realism and gameplay. But just like every other EA Sports title, this game is also not free from bugs and glitches. And this might be the biggest problem for the game right now.

Peacock’s crime drama “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” made its streaming premiere on September 5, 2024. The star-studded cast including Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, and Samuel L. Jackson was enough to attract early buzz, but what are critics saying now that six episodes have aired, with the final two slated for October 3 and October 10? And how could positive reviews impact its chances at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards?
In a city bursting with fight night anticipation, streetwise hustler Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams (Hart) plants himself at the center of the action. As dawn breaks on a city reeling from the heist, Jd Hudson (Cheadle), a pioneering Black detective, is thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse as the body count rises.

The honorary Oscar winner appears in a cinematic opening sequence this weekend for Sunday Night Football, airing 7pm Et on NBC on Peacock, as the home team faces off against defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs.
“The challenges come at you fast and they come at you furious… never more so when their names are Kelce and Mahomes,” he says in the opening.

After the debacle at Chicken Man’s afterparty, everyone was hellbent on finding out who had dared to rob the most notorious Black gangsters in the USA. The police wanted to get to the bottom of it before a gang war broke out on the streets of Atlanta. Meanwhile, the robbers were busy planning how to ensure that they could enjoy the money that they had stolen from Vivian’s house. Detective Hudson made some headway by learning about Tommy because he was the one who had bought the guns that were used during the robbery. Chicken Man, who was conducting an investigation of his own, arrived at the same conclusion, but before he could get to Tommy, he was arrested by Hudson. Since Silky was keeping Moten at bay while Chicken Man searched for the guilty party, he ended up paying for Chicken Man’s inability to bring Tommy to Moten.

Near the end of the second episode of Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist’s three-episode debut, one of New York City’s fiercest and deadliest gangsters, Frank Moten, played by Samuel L. Jackson, hovers over a petrified small-time Atlanta hustler known as Chicken Man, played by Kevin Hart, after leaving a historic boxing match in that Southern city in 1970.
Moten and his henchmen have taken Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams and a Miami gangster named Harvey (Celestino Cornielle) out to a field in Atlanta, where he quickly executes the Florida crime boss for making insulting comments to him before the unsanctioned boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Jerry Quarry. Chicken Man had made the mistake of trying to run a scam on Moten while he was watching the fight and made a promise he couldn’t deliver on, which resulted in his invitation out to the field for a final destination.

Muhammad Ali called Oct. 26, 1970, his “day of judgment.” His refusal to be inducted to the Army during the Vietnam War, on moral and religious grounds, had pushed him out of the ring for 43 months. But that night in Atlanta, his boxing license restored, he faced “The Great White Hope” Jerry Quarry in his long-awaited return to the ring. Black royalty from Harlem to Birmingham showed up and showed out: Diana Ross, Sidney Poitier, Hank Aaron, and Corretta Scott King filled ringside seats. Filling the stands right alongside them were a bevy of gangsters,...

The first three episodes of Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist largely focused on Detective Hudson preparing to protect Muhammad Ali for his comeback fight in Atlanta and Gordon ‘Chicken Man’ Williams setting the stage for a lavish party at Vivian Thomas’ house after the aforementioned fight. Hudson got his job done without too many hiccups, and he won the confidence of the one and only Muhammad Ali, who promised to return to Atlanta just because of the detective. Gordon faced all kinds of hurdles. He was abducted by a local gangster called Javi and forced into a partnership with him. He tried his best to woo his idol, Frank ‘Black Godfather’ Moten, several times and failed. Gordon was accused of colluding with Javi to backstab Moten. And when Gordon finally won over Moten with his pitch about turning Atlanta into “Black Vegas,” and he took the Black Godfather to the afterparty,...

Peacock's new crime thriller Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist tells a shocking but true-to-life story of the 1970 heist that occurred in Atlanta on the heels of Muhammad Ali's comeback fight against Jerry Quarry. The series is inspired by iHeart Radio's similarly titled true-crime podcast and dramatized to depict the half-century-old criminal case from what series creator Shaye Ogbanna calls "a character perspective," according to Today. Ogbanna unites Fight Night's star-studded cast with a well-crafted script to bring the show's characters to life - and thus far, his conceptualization of the catastrophe has proven to be a hit with viewers.
The series released its first three episodes on September 5 to a very positive critical reception, as indicated by Fight Night's current Rotten Tomatoes score. Bestowing the series with an impressive 93% approval rating, top Rt critics generally agree that Fight Night has the right combination of talent and story to entertain.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist just premiered on Peacock but is this new crime drama worth the watch? Find out!
Based on a podcast, Fight Night tells an incredibly true crime story. In 1970, Muhammad Ali (Dexter Darden) was making his much-hyped return boxing match after being banned for a few years for refusing the Army draft. Atlanta Detective Jd Hudson (Don Cheadle) is assigned to oversee Ali before and after the fight, not liking the guy or how he’s chosen simply for being a black detective.
Meanwhile, with all of Atlanta buzzing on the fight, low-level hoodlum Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams (Kevin Hart), who wants a big payday, hits on the idea of staging a “casino night” party and invites the big players in the city to take part. That includes an invite for Frank Moten (Samuel L. Jackson), “the Godfather of Harlem.” However, a pack of local...

Kevin Hart leads a starry cast of characters in Peacock's new crime drama miniseries, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. As its title suggests, the series is based on an exceptionally ambitious heist, previously documented in iHeart Radio's similarly titled true-crime podcast helmed and hosted by Jeff Keating. Both recount the true-to-life events of a shocking armed robbery that occurred the night of Muhammad Ali's first professional boxing match after being banned from the sport for years as a result of refusing to be drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
The stakes were high not only for the renowned boxer's comeback but for a crowd who gathered to celebrate Ali's historic fight at an ill-fated afterparty targeted by thieves. Fight Night series creator Shaye Ogbonna brings together an assemblage of big-name actors and TV newcomers to depict all parties involved in the catastrophe in what's...

In the opening monologue of the first episode of Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams, played by Kevin Hart, lays the foundation for Peacock’s eight-part limited series (which is now streaming its first three episodes).
“You know they burned Atlanta to the ground,” Chicken Man tells his friend, who runs a funeral home and is setting a body in a casket. “They burned it down to the ashes, just like they did in that old Gone with the Wind motherfucker. Yeah, but Atlanta rose up, rebuilt! How we do that? Because of us. Because of Black folks, that’s how we did it. They did the same thing in Chicago, too. But the difference is we’re not like Chicago, not one bit. We’re not like Chicago, New York, L.A., no. Down here, we’re different. Know why we’re different? Because down,...

“Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” the eight-episode miniseries (currently streaming on Peacock), documents two major events in Atlanta’s history. While Muhammad Ali made his professional boxing comeback with a win against Jerry Quarry at Atlanta’s Municipal Auditorium on October 26, 1970, a group of hoodlums robbed the Black Mafia of more than $1 million in cash and jewelry at a nearby after-party. As a result, Atlanta eventually became a Black Mecca.
At the center of “Fight Night” is street hustler Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams (Kevin Hart), who hosts the after-party in honor of New York mobster Frank Moten (Samuel L. Jackson), who controls the gangs. While Chicken Man sees Atlanta as a potential Black Vegas, Moten has more ambitious plans for turning the city into a Black Mecca. But just when it looks like they can work together, the robbery turns Chicken Man into the prime suspect. In the aftermath,...

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist debuts on Rotten Tomatoes to an impressive score. Created by Shaye Ogbanna, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is based on the true story of Muhammad Ali's return to boxing in 1970 and the attempted heist at the event's after party in Atlanta. The Peacock miniseries features a stacked cast, including Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Hart, Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard, and Taraji P. Henson.
Rotten Tomatoes now reveals that Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist has debuted with a high critics' score of 91% from 11 reviews. No Popcornmeter score (previously called the audience score) has been revealed just yet as there are fewer than 50 audience ratings, but one is sure to emerge as more viewers get a chance to watch the show.
