There are two kinds of black boxes in modern planes: the FDR (Flight Data Recorder) which record instructions sent to the electronic systems on an aircraft and the CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder) which records all audio in the flight deck, i.e. ambient noises and pilot discussions. The movie focuses the whole time on the CVR.

Goofs
During the entire movie, Mathieu drives a Peugeot 3008 II. However, in the night scene where he drives to Pollock's house, there are two shots of his car taking a corner. In the first shot, showing the front of the car, it is the Peugeot 3008 II. In the next shot, showing the back of the car, it has inexplicably changed to a Nissan Qashqai II.

I am not surprised that this movie does not get the recognition it deserves. They don't make movies like this anymore. Nowadays, a movie like BLACK BOX may be considered as boring.

This modern perception does not change the fact that this is a good movie. A political drama-thriller that deserves a greater audience. It will not get it because the majority of the people are cynical and apathetic.

Still, there are a lot of people who will enjoy it. It is not one of the best movies in this genre, but that doesn't say much. It remains as a breathe of fresh air in modern movies industry.
