This movie was way too slow and hard to get into. Also, the conversations were so low, it sounded like the were mumbling all of the time. We had the sound turned up so high just to try and hear what they were saying that when the music came on it almost deafened us. It was too hard to watch to be enjoyable

This movie is slow and truthfully the couple need to grow up between her selfishness and his head in the sand attitude. The acting was not to bad but again so slow that it was difficult to watch.
This was ok to watch but it is surely not the best I have ever seen, Hard to recommend. James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 1/17/2021

It felt incomplete, with gaping holes in the storyline and an unsatisfying resolution that should have happened way earlier in the story.
Pacing was treacherous slow. Too bad.

How can you enjoy a movie when one of the main characters is so unlikable? The woman is a whiny spoiled idiot who doesn't know how to do anything. The guy doesn't know how to do anything either but at he's not as annoying. She goes back to this nice house that was left to her by her parents and she doesn't seem to know anything about the house. It's ridiculous.

The most unlikeable characters of any movie ever. Worst plot, most unrealistic story possibility. Words can't describe the rage felt watching this god-awful 'movie'.

It's kind of an updated version of The Money Pit premise. Novertheless a fun movie.
At first, like most other reviewers, I was annoyed by Dan because he's a self-centered bonehead, and Anne is a whiny, spoiled woman-child! They eventually grow on you, and then you can see them transform and rekindle their relationship, which is much appreciated! (Frankly, less than 1/2 way through the move, I wanted to punch Anne...The Wine Cellar scene, especially!!!!)
This storyline perfectly blended the issues of money problems and doing a remodel as a couple who don't really know what they're doing; the annoyance and frustration involved, which thankfully turned into better understanding and teamwork. We've all been there, man! LOL
Give this one a shot. It'll be worth it.

Terrible acting, terrible writing. At the very least I was expecting a house that actually needed renovating, not a pristine mansion. Such a waste of time, even though I didn't get past the first half.

The acting is so poor by the woman that I am embarrassed to admit I am a woman. The immaturity in incomprehensible. The guy is bad but mostly from the poor chemistry. The insanity that spews from her mouth as she butchers the script, it she drunk all the time? Also the script itself is ludicrous. You can google the price of the wine before she breaks the bottles. Just shows how stupid they both are. How were they rich previously? Mommy and Daddy. Enough.

The Name is misleading, there is no actual/ real renovation shown in the movies, plus the movie is so slow. I shoud have read the reviews before watching the movie. Never again! Also what happened to those expensive wines! The Name is misleading, there is no actual/ real renovation shown in the the movies, plus the movie is so slow. It's difficult to understand the other reviews of this movie as well as the low ratings. A couple finds themselves in a huge debt hole and attempt to crawl their way out of it by selling a home they own.
Expect some of the usual storylines as per this type of movie, but don't expect the ugliness, the mean attitudes or the utter disregard of the person they are with. This is the reason I'm shocked at the reviews irritated by the immaturity of the couple. The spoiled nature of the wife.
The above two charges are not true at all. Both the husband and the wife made wrong decisions to get themselves to this point and allowed their personal wishes to separate them as a couple, but only to a point. They NEVER fell out of love, not did they completely disregard the other as a partner.
You will not be disappointed if you watch the movie. I wish there were more like this.

My husband and I had a relaxing and fun time watching this. It was also an opportunity for reflection-reflection on what matters in a marriage, what adds value to the relationship, and the importance of working together. Some things may look impossible, like them going from knowing nothing about DIY to doing an amazing job on their first (and only) fixer-upper, but my mind can accept a little imagination in books and in movies.
In addition to the good storyline, the movie is free of bad jokes and bad images. There are beautiful scenes of nature. All actors played their parts well. After reading some of the comments, the doubt came if it was worth it watching it. I am so glad I decided to do so! After all, each of us has our own way to see things.
