Next best thing to a visit

This film captures the feel of this gorgeous city with its luminous photography. The acting is also superb. It is a languorous story set in a time almost lost now- 1970 during the Soviet days. However it is not really political or much about the outbreak of cholera either. These things serve as a backdrop to the perennial family dramas of youth and age, sibling rivalries, failure in love and a last grasp at romance.
