From Blood of Zeus to Record of Ragnarok, several anime follow the culture of retelling mythological tales. With his series Twilight of the Gods, Zack Snyder isn’t far behind either. His depiction of the thunder god Thor sets the series apart from its contemporaries. To say the least, the animated series isn’t a run-of-the-mill retelling of Norse mythology.

To add to that, Marvel’s portrayal of the thunder god falls flat somehow in contrast to Snyder’s series. This holds especially true when it comes to the sheer brutality outlined in the series. Most fans cannot help but draw a contrast between the two characters.

“The age of petty Gods must end.”
The past decade has been a goldmine for subversive tales about Gods and mythological warriors, whether it’s American Gods, Ragnarok, Kaos, or even YA fare like the Percy Jackson series. Additionally, animation has really run wild with this subject matter in both despondent action dramas like Blood of Zeus and farcical comedies like Krapopolis. This is certainly territory that feels right at home for a stylized filmmaker like Zack Snyder, who initially turned heads with his historical action epic, 300, only to tackle increasingly fantastical subject matter and repeated ruminations on the nature of “Gods.” In this sense, Twilight of the Gods feels like it’s been a long time coming for Snyder. After Blood of Zeus decided to adapt Greek Mythology with a completely new twist, its take on Norse Mythology seems like it’s treading familiar ground, perhaps taking inspiration from a few popular video games, or so the plot of the show suggests.

Twilight of the Gods is the latest offering by Zack Snyder, following a young woman on a quest for revenge against the gods, specifically, Thor. The plot of the show might be reminiscent of the original God of War, which similarly focused on one mortal’s roaring rampage of revenge on the gods. However, there seems to be a little more to the story that might be becoming a familiar trope for Zack Snyder’s works.

In the world of classic anime, there is Dragon Ball and there are the Big 3; however, there is also Death Note that stands in the side silently noting the fame of every other series. It holds a special place in every fan’s heart for being one of the first anime to push them into the world. Its value is amongst the top and thus to see it getting butchered wasn’t a bright sight for fans.

The Netflix algorithm is a presumably all-knowing yet unknowable piece of math that can make kings and tumble empires. It has allowed shows like "Arrested Development" and "Lucifer" to get a second chance at life after their original networks canceled them. The algorithm has made Netflix shows into huge worldwide phenomena, like "Squid Game" and "Stranger Things," but it has also made big productions disappear into the ether as no one knows when they get released, let alone watch them — like "The Irishman."
No one knows whether a show will be a hit or not, as even if one tops the charts upon its release, there is no guarantee that it will remain there and prove itself worthy of more episodes. With gods, demigods, and mythical creatures, Blood of Zeus wanted to portray the dark side of the story-enrich Greek mythology with Seraphim’s character. Although Seraphim’s character was born from this grim side, there are some aspects of this Dark Greek tale where even the creators had to create a line.

James Gunn will soon be launching his version of the DC Universe with David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, and with this will come along multiple other characters that were previously either left in the dark or left unexplored. One of these widely speculated characters includes Lobo as well, the villain widely rumored to be embodied by Jason Momoa.

While Momoa has been vocal about his heartiest desire to play this unhinged interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, nothing has been confirmed about even the character’s debut in this respective rebooted super-verse. However, one of the biggest animated shows for the platform is coming to an end, but if the creators of the show are to be believed, it is just the beginning.

“Bridgerton” Season 3 is off to a steamy hot start.
The third season of the Shondaland period drama drew 45.1 million views over its first four days of availability, according to Netflix, easily finishing first on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list. Take that, Tom Brady roast.
It was the biggest week — by quite a bit — for any series on Netflix since the streamer changed its core metric from hours viewed to views in mid-June 2023.
The first four “Bridgerton” Season 3 episodes reached number 1 in 78 countries and the Top 10 in 92, Netflix said. The next four episodes premiere on June 13; try not to obsess over the big cliffhanger between now and then.
The third season of “Bridgerton” also brought the first two back to (some semblance of) their former glory. “Bridgerton” Seasons 1 and 2 both returned to Netflix’s Top 10 TV (in any language) list in the week ahead of Season 3. They did even better during Season 3’s premiere week.

Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days is one manga fans have been following for a long time now. There are many different shonen works that take on the slice-of-life tropes on the side. Spy x Family, The Way of the Househusband, and many other anime and manga follow such patterns to add a mix of different genres in an otherwise already explored trope.
Sakamoto Days
Sakamoto Days does the same. It takes a retired hitman wanting to live a normal life and pulls him back into a world filled with action. Needless to say, there were many fans following the manga and more who were awaiting a possible anime adaptation. By the looks of it, the wait may not be for long. However, that is not to say that everything might be going smoothly.

Greek mythology is perhaps one of the most overused settings in popular culture. It has been used everywhere from the God of War video games to movies and TV shows like Percy Jackson and the Olympians. So it's all the more amazing to see an original animated series from Netflix that manages to tell a story that's both familiar and entirely new, spiced with a fair amount of horror and gore.
Fans of high-quality animation, Greek mythology and spectacular action should not miss Blood of Zeus from the creators of Castlevania.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has lost most of its charm after Avengers: Endgame. After most of the Og characters’ story concluded following The Infinity Saga, the Kevin Feige vehicle took a different approach for The Multiverse Saga. Sadly, it did more bad than good. The introduction of the excessive amount of Disney+ Marvel shows and movies brought the MCU to its lowest.

The recent success of Netflix’s original animated ventures didn’t happen overnight, and a lion’s share of the credit should go to some of the streaming service’s earliest animated titles, Castlevania and Blood of Zeus. While the first one redefines the established game lore of the same name with a quasi-historical setting and modern sensibility, Blood of Zeus depends on the age-old formula of demigod legacy, challenging the established status quo of the divine creators, inspired by legends like Perseus or Hercules.
Free from the burden of stringent adherence to a singular lore, Greek mythology is effectively a treasure trove for experimentation on character dynamics. The makers of Blood of Zeus utilized this aspect in the best possible way as they took viewers through the journey of Heron and Seraphim while navigating through the world of gods and monsters, questioning the humanity of the associated characters the whole while.

If you are an ardent fan of Greek mythology and read a plethora of books such as The Song of Achilles, Circe, Percy Jackson Series, and many more, then you surely would have enjoyed watching Netflix’s Blood of Zeus. Even though the series is based on Greek mythology and legends, it is nothing that we don’t know or haven’t read. Despite trying to stand apart from the ancient legends and myths that we are aware of, the show often falters in creating something new.
Heron, the son of Zeus
The show is full of problems, and it is only great when it adds a dark twist to the Greek legends while trying not to stray too far away from the authentic source material. However, it looks like the show is in a tight spot, as the creators, Vlas and Charley Parlapanides, open up about the repetitive aspect of the show.
