Face front, true believers! Class is in session! Let’s call this “Doctor Strange 101”, an introduction to the newest member of the “Marvel movie-verse”, although, as you’ll soon learn, the sorcerer supreme is one of the oldest heroes. So, to get you up to speed before heading to the multiplex, we’re giving you a top ten list of facts about the “master of mystic arts”. First, a look at his lineage….

1. Doctor Strange Has Lots Of “Magic Hero” Predecessors Let’s go back over a 100 years, when magicians where a popular part of live entertainment. Many real-life stage performers like Houdini and Blackstone branched out into the printed page, starring in fictional exploits via booklets called “penny dreadfuls” which became the lurid pulp novels. In 1931 a radio show presented the adventures of the mysterious “Chandu the Magician” (one big fan was young Stan Lee). Edmund Lowe battled master...

With January gone we enter the beginning of February with the two main publishers going in different directions. Marvel is ramping up their main story-lines of the year with the beginning of Miles Morales in the Marvel Universe. DC is getting closer to the end of the New 52 universe with the announcement of Rebirth coming soon. Image and Titan-Comics are leaning on their heavyweight comics this month to carry them into spring.

I've got a set of beautiful and awesome art to share with you that focuses on the origins of the Mandarin. These were created for Marvel's 2007 animated film, The Invincible Iron Man, by supervising director Frank Paur. Here's what said about about the illustration above on his Facebook page.

"The idea was to be a blend of comic illustration and ancient parchment painting telling the story of the origins of the Mandarin, our villain for the movie. We opted for something else and I left them all unfinished. But during the time they were fun but a total pain in my backside."

As for the art below, he says:

"More of the Iron Man murals of the Chinese elementals doing their thing. the bgs were done by Fedja Jovanovic."

These things would make amazing prints! I'm sad Marvel isn't making good animated movies anymore. ...

We've recently reported that Marvel is looking to move forward on Captain America 3, and they want The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo to come back to develop it. Now Variety is reporting that Marvel is starting to put together a team of people to bring Thor 3 to life. The studio has hired Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost to write the next installment of the franchise.

Kyle has been a producer on the Thor movies, but has also worked on the story development for some of the Marvel animated films such as Planet Hulk, Hulk Vs., Doctor Strange, and The Invincible Iron Man. He worked on several of the Marvel animated TV series as well. Yost isn't new to the world of Marvel either. He was one of the writers on Thor: The Dark World, and also worked with Kyle on Marvel animated series such as Iron Man: Armored Adventures,...

3A Toys has released three new promo images of “The Invincible Iron Man”, the first entry in the upcoming line of 1/6 scale Marvel figures designed by illustrator Ashley Wood. The Ashley Wood-inspired line of figures are all officially licensed by Marvel Comics and will include such characters as Ultron, Dr. Doom and Spiderman.

It’s official Iron Man fans.

With the film opening in the U.S. on May 3rd, this weekend Marvel’s Iron Man 3 began its record-breaking rollout in 42 international territories representing 79% of the international marketplace. The film has taken in an estimated $195.3M, surpassing the $185.1M international opening weekend take of Marvel’s The Avengers.

Iron Man 3 is the #1 film in every market and has the biggest opening weekend of all time in Asia Pacific and Latin America.

Those of you eager to see Iron Man 3 will be able to dash to the cinema one day earlier than anticipated, following today's news that the new UK release date is Thursday, April 25.

Also unveiled today are a special UK trailer that features the new release date, along with a set of three new images from the movie.

The new trailer for Marvel’s Iron Man 3 has landed in all it’s armored super hero glory. The return to Stark Enterprises looks wonderful! Based on Marvel’s iconic Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963, the super hero had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. It was exciting to see The Avengers assemble on-stage at the Oscars to present Best Visual Effects. The team will reunite for the untitled Marvel’S The Avengers sequel – set for May 1, 2015.

Because there is never enough Tony Stark in your life, Disney has released a brand new "Iron Man 3" trailer.

This is the third trailer for "Iron Man 3," following a teaser last October and a spot during Super Bowl Xlvii. In the new film, directed by Shane Black, Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) must contend with a dastardly villain named Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). The film takes place after the events of "Marvel's The Avengers."

The 2013 onslaught of comic book adaptations at the cinema begins with Iron Man 3, out in the UK on April 26 and in the USA on May 3.

It's worth noting that G.I. Joe: Retaliation arrives before that (March 27 in the UK, March 28 in the USA) but that has its true origins as a line of action figures before it was turned into comics and cartoons.

Iron Man 3 sees Robert Downey Jr back as the armoured crimefighter, who finds himself without his Avengers teammates this time.

So far we have seen a trailer, a Super Bowl teaser poster and teaser trailer and a first look at Ben Kingsley as the nefarious Mandarin.

Phase 2 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe kicks off in May with Iron Man 3, to be followed in November with the second Thor film. There will be a new commercial for the feature to be aired during the Super Bowl. Here is Disney’s teaser for those who can’t wait. The studio is betting heavily on the audience for the Ravens-49ers contest (we’re rooting for the Ravens) with spots of Oz the Great and Powerful, The Lone Ranger, and Iron Man 3.
