Wyatt Ellis is only 15, but the mandolin prodigy is making quite a splash on the bluegrass world and appearing alongside some pillars of the genre — Bobby Osborne, Sierra Hull, Sam Bush, Marty Stuart, and Ronnie McCoury, among them.
“The bluegrass community has always been welcoming to young and upcoming musicians,” Ellis tells Rolling Stone. “And that’s a huge part of my story and how I got into the music.”
The common denominator with all those names listed is that they’re each phenomenal mandolin players — icons of the genre.

At 77 years young, Dolly Parton has earned the highest-charting album of her legendary career with Rockstar. The star-studded rock ‘n’ roll project debuted this week at No. 3.
Though she’s landed on the chart 49 times in the past — the first time being in 1969 — Rockstar marks Parton’s highest-charting album to date. She previously achieved two top 10 albums, with 2014’s Blue Smoke and 1987’s Trio (her collaborative LP with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris) both peaking at No. 6.
Rockstar was inspired by Parton’s 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and dropped on November 17th. With a tracklist of new originals and classic rock covers, the album features appearances by rock icons like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Ringo Starr, Miley Cyrus, Chris Stapleton, Debbie Harry, Nikki Sixx, Sting, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler, and many, many more. “Jolene” is one of Dolly Parton’s most successful songs, and continues to be relevant years after she released it. The song is about a woman pleading with another to stay away from her man. However, it comes from Parton’s authentic experience when she felt threatened by another woman taking her husband, Carl Dean. Parton said Dean felt “embarrassed” by “Jolene” as he is the man referenced in the song.
Dolly Parton said her husband was initially ‘embarrassed’ by ‘Jolene’
“Jolene” is a classic song in the history of country music. It has a fantastic rhythm and perfect lyrics by Parton. The lyrics are not artificial, as they come from Parton’s personal insecurities. In a 2014 appearance at Glastonbury, Dolly Parton revealed the inspiration behind “Jolene”. The story was based on an interaction between her husband and a redheaded bank teller, who her husband was spending a bit too much time with.

It’s been a long time coming, but Brooklyn’s Alamo Drafthouse finally opens for business on October 28. On Monday, IndieWire got a sneak peek of the new dine-in cinema, whose opening was originally scheduled for this past summer before being delayed due to a fire alarm control panel that exploded. Everything about the new location, from the gourmet culinary offerings to the diverse programming, suggest that the Austin, Texas-based chain’s first New York City venue is going to be a big hit with moviegoers.

Conceived as an offshoot of the popular barbecue restaurant Blue Smoke, Porchlight features Southern inspired drinks and light fare from chef Jean-Paul Bourgeois. The name itself denotes the vibe Meyer and his Blue Smoke compatriots Bourgeois and Mark Maynard-Parisi are going for: bringing a homey, Deep South feel to the casual New York cocktail crowd. Their contemporary cocktail interpretations, which carry a heavy dollop of fruit and spice, include the Sherry Cobbler (Amontillado Sherry, Homemade Orgeat, Bitters and Fresh Berries), the Stay All Night (Tito’s Vodka, Amaro Cio Caro, Lemon, Peach Preserve and Black Tea) and Gun Metal Blue (Mezcal Vida, Blue Curaçao, Peach Brandy, Lime and Cinnamon). A Southern accent is particularly prevalent in their menu items, spotlighted by their...

Rush Limbaugh breaks out “tranny,” Louis Tomlinson under fire for gay slur, Hedwig and the Angry Inch cast recording due in July
If you’ve got some time, I highly recommend heading over to Eaddy Mays’ Tumblr post about shipping. She asked followers about canon vs fanon, the dialog and responsibilities between fandom and creators, and expectations. She collected a mountain of responses, published them, and added her perspective. It covered Sterek vs. Dyler, queerbaiting, using fanon ships to promote a show, differences in fandoms like Supernatural, Teen Wolf, and Johnlock, and overall was really more thoughtful than I could ever do justice. But it’s wonderful seeing an actress listening and responding.
I honestly did watch the video of the One Direction boys smoking pot. Big deal. So I had missed that Louis made a racial slur and used “gay” in a derogatory fashion. Fans are now demanding an apology.

For the first time in months, “Frozen” will not be in the No. 1 or 2 spot on the Billboard 200 next week. Instead, “Xscape,” a posthumous Michael Jackson album featuring ‘’contemporized” versions of eight previously unreleased Jackson cuts, is in a dead heat with The Black Keys’ “Turn Blue” for the top spot. Both are slated to sell up to 155,000, according to Hits Daily Double. Read our review of “Xscape” here and of “Turn Blue” here. If Jackson comes in on top, it will be his first No. 1 album released since his death: "Michael," released in 2011, debuted and peaked at No. 3. If The Black Keys prevail, it will be their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. They join four other debuts in the Top 10: Rascal Flatts’ “Rewind” will likely bow at No. 5 (60,000), Dolly Parton’s “Blue Smoke” at No. 4 (40,000), Tori Amos’ “Unrepentant Geraldines” at No. 8 (19,000) and Michael W. Smith’s “Glory” at No.

Nashville, Tenn. (AP) — As Miley Cyrus' godmother, Dolly Parton has spent a lot of time answering reporters' questions about the Hannah Montana actress turned pop ingenue as she promotes her new album, "Blue Smoke," out this week. Though she says she worries about Cyrus as if she were her own child, she supports the sometimes shocking decisions her goddaughter has made as she moved from child star to a confident — and complicated — young woman. "I'll never say anything bad about Miley 'cause I know she's smart," Parton said. "And I know she's talented. And I know she's had to go to drastic measures to try to make her point: 'Leave me alone. I am not Hannah Montana anymore. I want to grow up.'" The 68-year-old Country Music Hall of Fame member compared Cyrus criticisms to those who chided her when she first came on the scene — a buxom...

Dolly Parton is one of music's true legends, and a being of pure light created to bring joy and love to the world.
So when Jimmy Fallon tried on one of her wigs, we were expecting more. He does look rather fetching, though.
