'Tis the season for everyone's annual holiday movie watch (and/or re-watch), that magical time of year where we gorge ourselves on all manner of films that take place in and around the holidays. For some cinephiles, this means delving into the darkest depths of "is it a Christmas movie because it has one scene with a decorated tree in it?," while for others, it means a first-time or 70th-time viewing of canonized holiday classics. One of the joys of watching a vintage Christmas film for the first time is seeing some of your favorite actors turn up looking impossibly young. Actress Kaley Cuoco surprised her old “The Big Bang Theory” co-star Jim Parsons after a recent “Our Town” performance on Broadway, reigniting their on-screen chemistry five years after the show ended.

Cuoco posted the backstage encounter to her Instagram Story, encouraging people to see Parsons in the classic play. Her surprise visit underlined the two actors’ long-standing bond after working together on television for over a decade.

Parsons, best known as Sheldon Cooper, has returned to his theatrical roots with this revival of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama. The Barrymore Theatre performance stars a 28-member ensemble that includes Zoey Deutch, Katie Holmes, Ephraim Sykes, and Richard Thomas.

Parsons’ dramatic range is fully displayed in his key role as Stage Manager. The play opened on Broadway in 1938 and delves into universal themes of daily life and human interaction in the imaginary community of Grover’s Corners.

Review: When the first season of Based on a True Story dropped last year on Peacock, I was not impressed with the story of a couple who started their own true-crime podcast with input from a real serial killer.

“Based on a True Story” returns with a deliciously dark and twisted second season that takes the true-crime podcast concept and flips it. After a whirlwind trip in Season 1, where Ava (Kaley Cuoco) and Nathan Bartlett (Chris Messina) were entangled with serial murderer Matt Pierce (Tom Bateman), the series delves deeper into the intricate world of crime, media, and personal transformation.

The first season introduced us to a suburban couple at their wit’s end – Ava, a true crime fanatic, and Nathan, a failed tennis coach – who mysteriously decide to launch a podcast after discovering Matt’s identity as the Westside Ripper. The NBA has one less headache on its plate. The league has agreed to a settlement deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, putting an end to a desperate effort by the company to keep its hands on a package of live NBA games past the end of the 2024-25 season. Those games are officially moving on to Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video, but Wbd did win a few concessions in the settlement, and as part of another deal have made an arrangement to keep the beloved “Inside the NBA” studio show alive.
