Legend says that The Heavenly Sword was forged in heaven and once wielded by a deity. When King Bohan seeks the Heavenly Sword, Nariko, a highly skilled young warrior, is shouldered with the task of protecting the sword from him.

The Heavenly Sword - legend says that it was forged in heaven and once wielded by a deity, and that no mortal may wield it in battle without paying the ultimate price. The prophecy says that this deity will return in the body of a mortal man, born as a son to the leader of the clan which protects the sword from falling into the wrong hands, and whose destiny it will be to wield the sword once more to unite the people and show them the way to the Promised Land. In truth, a girl, Nariko, is born instead, and soon after the mother dies, and is immediately reviled by her clanmates as a target of blame for all their misfortune. Fast forward 23 years, and King Bohan seeks the Heavenly Sword. Nariko, now a highly skilled young warrior, is shouldered with the task of protecting the sword from him - but when she eventually decides to wield the Heavenly Sword and exact vengeance for all those who have died in its name, can she end Bohan's invasion and fulfil the prophecy before the sword drains the life from her? Looking back over the last few days of her life, Nariko tells her story...—Steve

Heavenly Sword's basic overveiw is about a clan who has sworn to protect a sword that is said to have been forged in heaven. There is a prophesy that one day a male child will be born who will wield the sword against the forces of evil, but at the time when the promised child is to be born, a female child, Nariko, is born instead; to the clan her birth portends great misfortune, and through her childhood, up to the age of 23 Nariko is shunned by other members of the clan. Meanwhile the King of the land wants the sword for himself as a trophy and so he seeks out to get it. The clan which protects the sword is also a warrior clan so to his dismay they engange in a war. The main character Nariko and her adopted sister Kai are both in over their heads when Nariko gets the sword and uses it to protect her clan and stop the evil tyrant king. The game has a very basic story line and it unfolds in beautiful graphics and great voice acting.
