No, this is a reboot of the Japanese Godzilla series from 1954. This film has no connections with the previous American remake.
Godzilla will have several battles with the MUTO (Massive Unknown Terrestrial Organism) monster pair.
There are scenes taking place in the Philippines, Japan, Hawaii, San Francisco, California, Nevada and Las Vegas. There are also some scenes that happen on the Pacific Ocean.

This movie was filmed in 2D and utilized stereoscopic 3D conversion in post by the company Stereo D, LLC. This is the same company who converted big creature films Jurassic Park 3D and Pacific Rim.
