Water Tree Media have released the first clip from the much anticipated (at least by me and fans of the awesome Bill Oberst) teen slasher film Ditch Day Massacre, which stars horror icon Bill Oberst Jr. (Children of Sorrow, Scary or Die, Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies) and Lynn Lowry (Cat People, The Crazies).
The film also stars ambitious up and coming talents Katy Foley (Disdain), Zach Silverman (A Broken Code), Tara Gerard (Lake Dead), Mad Brad Potts (Puppet Master X, “Glee”) and martial arts star Morgan Benoit (The Forbidden Kingdom) and is helmed by first time director Joe Hendrick, who has collaborated with horror screenwriter/author Daniel P. Coughlin (Lake Dead, Farmhouse) and sibling actor/writer Ryan Coughlin (Back Slash, “Jericho”); in a film which tells the story of:
Jenny Bilson, a high school senior, [who[ is the perfect student, and a wonderful daughter to a veteran police detective. But a figure from her past has come knocking. And, throwing a high school ‘ditch party,’ will end up being one Hell of a mistake!

Written by Lake Dead and Farmhouse scribe, Daniel P Coughlin, Ditch is the directorial debut of Joe Hendrick. Currently finishing up post, the film looks of note thanks to star Bill Oberst Jr.—who is unforgettable in his brief, but nutso turn in Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's Resolution (on VOD January 23 from Tribeca)—and beloved, veteran genre staple Lynn Lowry.
In Ditch, Vick’s (Oberst) past is linked with Jenny’s (Katy Foley). Jenny has made a mistake somewhere in her past, one which she knows nothing about. Both characters will collide as Vick desires revenge for this past wrong.
You can keep up with Ditch and its future plans at the film's official Facebook.

It's not a lot better than the previous teaser artwork that we had for George Bessudo (Farmhouse, Lake Dead) and Intandem Films' Glimmer, but this latest bit of sales art for the flick does have a rather creepy vibe... plus confirmation that it will be in 3D.
Laura Ramsey (The Ruins), Shawn Roberts (X-Men, Resident Evil, Edge of Darkness), and Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect, Crank, Mirrors) star.
Look for more on this one soon!
Synopsis
When 16-year-old Annie Tuttle takes a walk at her lakefront home, she spots a young girl standing on the ice-covered lake. As Lucy falls through the ice, Annie hurries to rescue her and sees a figure at the center of the lake; the figure seems to shimmer and disappear before her eyes.
Nine years later Annie is happily married to Jack Cole. Annie gets a letter which reads: “It’s going to kill you.

Trail Of Blood may be presented by Joe Dante – who is attached as a producer – but it is written and directed by Joseph and Justin Guerrieri, marking the duo’s feature directorial debut.
The story follows Jim Lerner, a young U.S. Marine, and his six friends as they go on a weekend camping trip. Deep in the woods they stumble upon, of all things, the mutilated corpses of another vacationing couple. They then meet the “Angel of Death” – really just a disturbed war veteran – who mistakes them for the killers, takes them hostage, and forces them into a series of traumatizing mind games that push them to, and possibly over, the edge.
The official website claims “Their maddening fight for survival will uncover the darkest parts of humanity and leave you breathless,” but you can watch the trailer – a montage of guns, knives, blood and one-liners – and be the judge of that yourself…...

Hide From director Jamison Brandi comes Hide starring Lisa Younger (The Wrong Way), James C. Burns (Lake Dead) and Matt O' Neill (365 Days). I have to say when I saw the initial plot synopsis, I got really excited as it combined to of my favorite horror film tangents that will usually ensure a successful horror movie - Halloween and a game of hide and seek. Just look at how well John Carpenter's Halloween scored with the holiday. Or look at how successful Hide and Seek, starring Robert De Niro, was at the box office utilizing the beloved children's game.
In Hide, Chesterfield High School basketball practice has ended. One year later the town is still reeling from the massacre of a brutal mischief night murder, but even the statewide curfew won't stop these teens from pulling pranks on Hallow's Eve. The first decade of the new millennium has come to an end, and that means it is now time for film sites all over the web to begin posting their various retrospectives and lists recalling the decade that was. I generally as a rule dislike such lists because they are always so subjective. Then I said screw it and took it upon myself to do one of my own naming the ten worst horror movies of the past decade. Besides, people love bitching on the Internet about lists like this, and who am I to deny readers yet another excuse to get into pointless flame wars over personal opinions.
Of course, this list is just my personal opinion which is not legally binding ... unless Proposition 304 passes. And we all pray that it will.
I set two rules when putting this list together: Only horror movies that received fairly wide theatrical...

Chicago – Lionsgate and After Dark Films’ recently released their third collection of “8 Films to Die For” and this year proved to be the most uninspiring octet to date. With fewer risks taken than the last two years and less extreme failures or successes, “After Dark Horrorfest III” is terrifyingly dull.
Overall DVD Rating: 2.0/5.0 What makes this year’s collection rather forgettable is the lack of extremes on either side of the rating spectrum. The first two years produced some truly excellent genre gems including “Borderland,” “The Hamiltons,” and “The Abandoned.” At the same time, movies like “Dead Lake,” “Undead,” and “Nightmare Man” should be buried in a deep hole and never see the light of day again.
I have to admit that I liked the variety in quality of the last two years more than this year, when nearly every film registered as forgettable more than good or bad. There was one notable standout,...

With the March 31st DVD release of all "8 Films to Die For" from the 2009 After Dark Horrorfest III, we thought it might be fun to take a look back at the films previously offered through the first two Horrorfests in 2006 and 2007. Before you delve into the latest batch of frights from Courtney Solomon and Co., let's take a look back.

The other night I finally got an opportunity to see Let The Right One In and it lived up to the hype. Now, while an artfully-crafted piece of sublime horror filmmaking is great and all, there's also something to be said for the horror films with no pretension, no subtlety, and no grace whatsoever when it comes to what they're selling. I'm talking about the films that are all about two things: blood and boobs, not necessarily in that order. I'm talking about movies like Bikini Girls on Ice.
Don't let the title fool you into thinking this is a movie about bikini-clad skaters putting on an ice capade. Bikini Girls on Ice follows the very simple formula of getting some attractive women in as little clothing as possible and then killing them. It is a time-honored tradition, no?

After Dark adds 'Crazy', 'Dead' to Horrorfest
NEW YORK -- After Dark Films completed its demented Horrorfest lineup by acquiring all North American rights to the supernatural thriller Crazy Eights and the psycho killer flick Lake Dead.
James K. Jones' Crazy Eights, starring Frank Whaley and Traci Lords, follows six friends who reunite after two decades at a childhood friend's funeral. They dig up a time capsule and discover the remains of a child from their past. Jones, Dan DeLuca, John Kaila and Patrick Moses produced the project, which also stars Dina Meyer, Gabrielle Anwar, George Newbern and DeLuca.
George Bessudo's Dead follows three sisters who journey to their late grandfather's cabin in hopes of getting his inheritance. Unfortunately, a band of butchers has decided to sublet the place before they arrive. Edwin Craig, Pat McNeely and James C. Burns star in the film, which was produced by Todd Chamberlain, Hector Echavarria, Jason Hice and Mike Karkeh.
The Horrorfest "8 Films to Die For" lineup is rounded out by Borderland, The Deaths of Ian Stone, Mulberry Street, Nightmare Man, Tooth and Nail and Unearthed. The features hit more than 300 screens nationwide from Nov.
