This movie was good, but there were some things I didn't like 1. How they changed it to Sarah Paxton instead of Kimberly j.brown because Kimberly has a shape to her but, well Sarah doesn't its just that plain and simple it looked like she lost a TON of weight. Also she looked nothing like Kimberly.2 some of the costumes were a bit cheesy.3. some of the effects were cheesy too, they could've done better. once i found out Kimberly wasn't going too be on Holloweentown i knew right away this was probably going to be very interesting and not in a good way Kimberly just added that spunk to the movie and it was a lost to not have her there.
For this movie they should have had Sara Paxton play Sophie going to college instead of Marnie and I think it would have been better. Other than that it was okay except for it needed more of a plot to it. Like they should have brought some of the old stuff to it like the talisman in the first 1. Witch University was manly witches and that dwarf guy. There were no monsters except for like 3. There was this one scene in the trailer that I did not see in the movie. it was when Sara(Marnie) and J. Paul(Dylan) showed there id's to this knight and J. Paul said " I wanna go to a real college." Other than that it was a cool movie. There was this One cool part in the movie was when she found out the secret of Halloweentown. But you have to watch the movie to find out what it is.

You don't replace the most icon DCOM star with a new person, especially when the original actress is available for filming.
Shame on you.
Also, the story is over dramatic and stupid. A college in Halloweentown? Okay. 🙄

What can I say. I have been a huge fan of Halloweentown, but changing the main actress was the wrong step to make. It ruined the movie. Paxton should have been the younger sister not Kimberly Browns role. Disappointing. 😞

Let's begin with the elephant in the room... the recasting of Marnie. Normally, I absolutely hate it when a beloved character gets recast, but this one didn't bother me all that much. Sara Paxton was given a challenging task and she handled it well. She's likable and stays true to Marnie's character. However, there is another character who's absence hurt the movie a bit more. While Debbie Reynolds isn't completely absent, she might as well have been. She's there long enough to explain why she's not going to be there. Because of these changes with these two characters, many haven't treated this movie fairly. In truth, there's more story here than we see in the first movie. The Dominion are far greater a villain than what we were given in that first movie, and we're given a Halloweentown movie that takes place almost completely in the world of Halloweentown. This movie also has Lucas Grabeel return and his likability can only improve a DCOM. Even with so much up against it, this is a fun movie and gives off some real Harry Potter vibes.

Return to Halloweentown was a lot better than the other three because in the first one yes she did use magic without even thinking about it but in this one she is at Witch U to learn to control her powers and make them more powerful so if she used them without thinking it would be a waste of the schools time meaning the movie would be pointless. Seeing that she didn't use her powers the instant she had a stupid Idea meant that she was learning to control them not that she was being a wimp. like they say in all the movies... with true power comes true responsibility and I think they made this Halloweentown very well thank you very much. In addition to that You DON'T need Linkberly J Brown to make the movie... yes it would have been nicer but that is like saying if Paula Abdul left American Idol than it would be ruined... but if Paula left American Idol then it wouldn't be horrible granted it would be different but If you watched American Idol for the singing the judges don't matter. So I give Return to halloweentown two thumbs up!

My biggest disappointment is that they replaced Kimberly J. Brown with Sara Paxton. Apparently, she was available and able to continue, yet they replace her with a blonde actress? If they're going to make changes, they need to make sure the changes make sense and have reason
Not having Kimberly Brown was really disappointing. I like the other girl in other things she'd done but Kimberly was Marnie for 3 films and really made the character

Return To Halloweentown is the 4th and final Halloweentown film of the franchise. This time Sara Paxton takes over from Kimberly J Brown and boy she isn't the same. Throughout I was like what is Aquamarine doing here in a DCOM. Marine(Paxton) gets into trouble with 3 hexes to uncover clues.
Watch the 1998 one instead. This is boring

Just no, the decision to replace marnie and give Aggie a very limited role was just a bad movie. This doesn't have the feel of Halloweentown, I reject this as a sequel.

I thought Return to Halloween was really good. Yes like many I also missed Kimberly J. Brown. I'm sure she would have loved to do it but I also think Sara Paxton did an awesome job. I was a little surprised at first but I soon got use to it and didn't notice after a while. At least they had the decency to dye her hair the same color and she almost does look like Kim just skinnier (and no she's not anorexic) and I think she got the part down perfect. I agree with some other commenter's that they should have shown the teachers were evil later in the movie rather than so close to the beginning. I also like the Ethan and Marnie getting close together. I didn't like how they took Sophie out but at least they didn't really leave her out. They at least gave an excuse to why she's not being seen. Overall really good movie. And just so everyone's clear, DEBBIE REYNOLDS WAS IN RETURN TO HALLOWEENTOWN! Just look at the cast listings, geez!

This movie is the 4th movie in the Halloween Town movies. For this movie the main character wasn't played by her regular actress "Kimberly J. Brown," it was Played by "Sara Paxten." I thought this movie would suck after seeing the commercial for it (nobody could replace a main actor of a movie). Well, I believe it was surprisingly good. It didn't seem to matter what actor was playing whom. It was an okay movie. I didn't watch it to see how much more it would suck. I watched it because, it explains things the previous movie didn't explain. The plot was understandable but not completely predictable. Overall it was Surprisingly good.

This is the best overall story and attempt at making a quality movie in the Halloweentown franchise. I would've given this a 7 or so if Kimberly J Brown reprised her role, but for some strange reason, Disney had other plans. Sara Paxton was fine... but why? Also, the background sound effects are effing hysterical.

This was a disgrace to the Halloweentown trilogy! It didn't make sense, the plot was boring and the acting was pretty bad. Sara Paxton could not pull off the role of a collage student, and I didn't like how they made Marnie and Ethan flirt with each other. It was a disgrace to the Halloweentown movies and deserves to be eliminated. I didn't like how there was no Aggie! It made this movie worse than what it already was. Debbie Reynolds and Kimberly J. Brown always played the leads and they basically made the Halloweentown movies. And neither of them were in this one! That is too stupid for words. I wish that they would have waited for Kimberly to finish her other film, and added Aggie to the script. And put Sophie in there! I can't believe Disney did this! I'm disappointed.
