Logan Lerman, best known for the Percy Jackson film series, began acting in commercials when he was young and made his film debut in 2000 with the movie The Patriot. After starring in several movies, he decided he needed a break in the early 2000s and would return to the industry when he was 12. In 2004, he was cast in one of the two titular roles in the TV series Jack & Bobby.
Logan Lerman in Hunters
By the time he was cast as the titular character in the 2009 movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, he had appeared in numerous projects and won three Young Artist Awards. The movies have been criticized for deviating from the source material for years. With the release of the new Disney+ series, fans were hoping to have those mistakes corrected. However, Lerman’s recent words have drawn a surprisingly new reaction from them.

For fans of World War II period dramas and the original "Percy Jackson" films, I have incredible news. The limited series "We Were the Lucky Ones" is coming to Disney's newly-purchased Hulu very soon, and it looks like it's going to be worth the wait.
The show is "inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive and reunite," according to the official synopsis. "The series demonstrates how in the face of the 20th century's darkest moment, the human spirit can endure and even thrive. The series is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds."
It is adapted from a New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Georgia Hunter, a 46-year-old Jewish-American author. Her book is based on the true story of her family's survival in the Holocaust. Although the...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 Episode 5, “A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers.”] Ahead of the release of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Episode 5, author and series co-creator Rick Riordan said on Instagram that this is the episode “where things Really get cooking.” He wasn’t kidding. “A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers” features the debut of not just one god, but two: Aew star Adam “Edge” Copeland as Ares, and Psych alum Timothy Omundson as Hephaestus, the god of artisans, blacksmiths, carpenters, craftsmen, and more. Hephaestus’ presence in the episode is actually a departure from the source material. In Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (the book on which Season 1 is based), Hephaestus doesn’t actually show up and meet the questing demigods. In the Disney+ adaptation, he does, bringing another exciting element to the fan-favorite Tunnel of Love scene — another pivotal book moment that the movies left out. (Ares isn’t ...

Logan Lerman, who played the title character in two Percy Jackson films a decade ago, offered praise and best wishes to the latest actor to take on the role: “I can’t imagine a better fit for Percy Jackson than Walker [Scobell],” Lerman wrote in a note read aloud to Scobell during a podcast featuring the cast and producers of the new Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
The encouraging words came during a live recording of the podcast Happy Sad Confused (watch it below). Host Josh Horowitz was moderating a panel at New York’s 92nd Street Y that included Scobell along with castmates Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, author and producer Rick Riordan and exec producer Becky Riordan when he surprised the guests with Lerman’s missive.

Logan Lerman was the first actor to bring Percy Jackson to life on screen with his role in Fox’s short-lived film franchise, which kicked off in 2010 with “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and continued in 2013 with “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.” Now rising star Walker Scobell is taking over the role in Disney+’s television series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Lerman recently surprised Scobell and the rest of the new cast by sending over his blessing during a live recording of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast.

It's been less than 15 years since 20th Century Fox tried to leverage the "Percy Jackson" series of books by Rick Riordan into their own version of a "Harry Potter" franchise, replete with well-known adult actors, a group of less familiar child actors, a fantastical setting, and even the director of the first two "Potter" films. But while "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" did well enough to merit a sequel, there must have been some sense of a story that wasn't told as effectively as possible. Now, as we wrap up 2023, and as Disney+ embarks on its fifth year of existence, Percy is back and this time in TV form. "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" (please note the lack of an ampersand in this show's title) goes through the basic story that made up the 2010 film subtitled "The Lightning Thief," but has the benefit and imprimatur of Riordan as...

20th Century Fox wanted Chris Columbus‘ 2010 film “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” to kick off a franchise that could contend with “Harry Potter.” Alas, that didn’t happen. Critics had a mixed reception about the feature, and it didn’t do well at the box office either. But the original “Percy Jackson” books remain popular, so it only makes sense for Disney to take a swing at it, this time as streaming series on Disney+.

Rick Riordan "wrote off Hollywood" after being left frustrated by the 'Percy Jackson' films. The 59-year-old author has never watched either of the movie adaptations of his work – 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief' and 'Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters' – and refused to consider other takes on the books as the flicks had deviated from the source material so much.In an interview with Variety, Rick said: "After the movie experience, I basically wrote off Hollywood for a long, long time. I really didn't want to have anything to do with the film industry."There were many years of me saying, 'I don't want to engage. I don't want to think about other adaptations. I'm done.'"'Percy Jackson' is now returning to the screen in a Disney+ TV series that will premiere in December and Rick ultimately relented on his anti-adaptation stance. He explained: "But...

It’s no secret that Rick Riordan, who wrote the Percy Jackson book series and executive-produces the upcoming Disney+ live-action series, took major issue with the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and its sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
In his notes to movie producers in 2009, he called the Lightning Thief script “terrible” as a whole and maligned the age-inappropriate swearing as a “lazy attempt to make the script seem hip to teens.” Responding to a fan in 2020 who said he hated the films more than they did, Riordan shared that it was “my life’s...

The next big thing in Hollywood was created by a middle school teacher from Texas. To his fans, he’s Uncle Rick.
In the crowd of a Los Angeles theater, where Uncle Rick has stopped on his most recent book tour, two teenage sisters gush that they drove for nearly two hours to make it here tonight — longer, when you account for parking — but it was worth it. Like Percy Jackson, the character that made Uncle Rick famous, the older sister has Adhd, while the younger sister never liked reading. And Percy also landed in Los Angeles on his very first quest. So by the logic set out in Uncle Rick’s books, these girls were born to be heroes.

He wasn’t on the speakers’ list, but Percy Jackson & The Olympians creator Rick Riordan staged a surprise last-minute walk-on Sunday at New York Comic Con with his wife, Becky Riordan.
The couple closed out a jam-packed panel for the upcoming Disney+ adaptation of author Riordan’s beloved, modern-day-mythological fantasy novels about a boy who learns he is the half-human son of the sea god Poseidon.
“Let’s go to Camp Half-Blood and play capture the flag,” a smiling Riordan said from the stage, introducing the last of three exclusive sneak-peak clips from the series, which premieres December 20.
A capacity Comic Con audience — many already in orange and black Camp Half-Blood t-shirts handed out at the door — cheered inside the mammoth exhibition hall at Manhattan’s Javits Center. Then came a five-minute reel showing Percy, played by Walker Scobell, in a crucial early test of his fighting skills at the sleep-away camp for young demigods-in-training.

Prime Video has released its “Red White & Royal Blue” film, based on Casey McQuiston’s novel, and viewers are in store for some great twists on romantic comedy tropes and foreign relations.
McQuiston’s novel follows Alex Claremont Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), son of the first woman to become president of the United States (Uma Thurman) as he butts heads with Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) constantly, which gets them both into trouble. The president sent her son to the royal wedding with only one operative: Do not cause a scene. But apparently, he caused a big enough commotion to take the cake — literally a large wedding cake toppled onto Alex and Henry after an altercation on the dance floor. Smoothing things over, at least in a famous fake friendship kind of way, the boys strike up an actual relationship, romantic and all.

Upon its release throughout the mid-to-late 2000s, the Percy Jackson book series garnered widespread popularity among young readers, which led to not one but two film adaptations of the books, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" and "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters." Upon its release throughout the mid-to-late 2000s, the Percy Jackson book series garnered widespread popularity among young readers, which led to not one but two film adaptations of the books, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" and "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters." The movies follow Percy Jackson, a young adult who discovers he is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea, and embarks on a number of adventures to develop his demigod powers and save loved ones from threatening forces, but they faced criticism for straying from the original content of the novels and cutting author Rick Riordan out of the creative process.

Now that "His Dark Materials" is ending, the search for the next title to carry the young adult (YA) fantasy torch is raging on. While we wait for more news about "The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes," Disney+ wants to become the home for second chances at adapting beloved YA books. It recently announced a new "Eragon" adaptation, and there's the highly anticipated "Percy Jackson & The Olympians."
First adapted in 2010 as "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" — a title that simple rolls off the tongue — that movie was a commercial success that was nevertheless heavily criticized for how much it deviated from the books, and for simply having a terrible script. It's a shame, because the books are rather good. Sure, they skew even younger than most YA novels, but they are highly entertaining adventures with poignant messages, and great characters. Author Rick Riordan managed to introduce Greek...

Disney+ is now deep into the production of the Percy Jackson TV series, adapting the beloved works of author Rick Riordan, centered on the son of Poesidon. Of course, this isn’t the first time that the adventures of Jackson and his campmates have made it to the screen, but there are some strong indications that this time around, the adaptation is going to be far more faithful to what was on the page. After all, those initial movies certainly didn’t quite live up to expectations, nor did they launch the franchise they were perhaps intended to.
D23 revealed the first trailer for the Disney+ series, giving audiences a hint of how far this iteration of the story has come, in comparison to 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. What are the signs that the Walt Disney Company is...

"Bullet Train" is packed with so much fast-paced chaos, you might have missed the sneaky Percy Jackson Easter egg hidden in its script. The action movie features a slew of codenamed assassins, including Ladybug (Brad Pitt), Lemon (Brian Tyree Henry), Tangerine (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), The Prince (Joey King), The Wolf (Bad Bunny), and The Hornet (Zazie Beetz). One of the few non-murderous characters aboard the high-speed train across Japan is The Son, portrayed by a long-haired, tattoo-covered Logan Lerman. Yep, this is where the Percy Jackson reference comes into play.
The son of Russian crime lord White Death, Lerman's character is being escorted to Kyoto by dynamic duo Lemon and Tangerine. The former has a love for the animated series "Thomas & Friends," often comparing its humanoid trains to the personality traits of those he crosses paths with. Lerman led 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters as its title star, the half-human son of Greek god Poseidon. Now, Disney+ is reviving the story with the series adaptation Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and The Adam Project‘s Walker Scobell is taking on the role of Percy.

As the Hollywood blockbuster machine continues to dust itself off and release some early winter hits, Hulu is going in a bit of a different direction with its list of new releases for November 2021.
There are no big Hulu original films of note this month. Instead there’s a whole host of original series. The TV parade starts on Nov. 5 with the release of Animaniacs season 2. Also getting a second season this month is monarchal comedy The Great on Nov. 19. The most intriguing series, however, is animated Marvel comedy Marvel’s Hit Monkey. As its name so graciously implies, this is a show about a hit monkey…as in monkey assassin. Naturally the hit monkey is haunted by the ghost of Jason Sudeikis because it’s important that everything make sense.
Though Hulu doesn’t have any original movies in November, its list of library movie titles is quite vast.

The search for the ideal teenage demigod has begun as Rick Riordan unveiled a preliminary casting call for the upcoming Percy Jackson series at Disney+.

Riordan unveiled a number of details for the titular role – including that the actor should be able to “play 12,” and that there is no specific ethnicity for who can play Percy Jackson himself.
“We are looking for the best person who can embody the character we all know and love from the books,” he wrote.

All streaming services go through a down period after the excitement of Spooky Season, it’s only natural. Thankfully with its list of new releases for November 2020, Hulu is making the best out of a barren pop culture landscape.
For starters, Hulu is premiering one of its major 2020 reboots this month as Animaniacs arrives on Nov. 20. Yakko, Wakko, Dot, and the rest of the Warner gang are set to return for this long-awaited revival of the animated classic. That’s about it as far as original series go but Hulu is also premiering original movies Greta, about climate activist Greta Thunberg on Nov. 13; and Run, a horror film starring Sarah Paulson, on Nov. 20.
Still, despite all the Animaniacs, Gretas, and Sarah Paulsons, the biggest hits this month might just be on the library content side of things. November 1 sees the arrival of some major TV properties. For starters, racy British...

“I still have not seen the movies, and don’t plan on ever doing so,” Riordan tweeted. “I judge them from having read the scripts, because I care most about the story. I certainly have nothing against the very talented actors. Not their fault. I’m just sorry they got dragged into that mess.”

A new Percy Jackson TV show is officially being developed for Disney+, and eyes are already turning to potential casting news.
The fantasy book series on which the show will be based draws on a host of figures from classical mythology, a line-up that wouldn’t be complete without Zeus. In the first film adaptation of the novels, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, the part was played by Sean Bean. This time around, however, we understand that Disney are eyeing up one of his co-stars from the movie.
According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us about the Percy Jackson show back in the fall, well before it was announced – the studio is looking at casting former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan in the role. Of course, Brosnan previously played Chiron in Lightning Thief, so he’s no stranger to the franchise.

The announcement was made by Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan. “After a lot of hard work and a lot of support from you guys, Percy Jackson is coming to Disney+,” Riordan said, while promising there will “more later.” He followed up with a statement that said the series will be “following the storyline of the original ‘Percy Jackson’ five-book series, starting with ‘The Lightning Thief’ in season one.”
Disney+ declined to comment, but an individual with knowledge of the project described it as being in “very early development.”

Disney+ is developing a Percy Jackson series adaptation. Book series author Rick Riordan made the announcement Thursday on Twitter alongside his wife Becky. It comes after months of speculation and a week after Becky Riordan initiated a #DisneyAdaptPercyJackson Twitter campaign, hinting at the adaptation.
Rick Riordan used the same #DisneyAdaptPercyJackson in December when he live tweeted his Disney meetings for a Percy Jackson series, triggering reports that the series is for Disney’s streaming platform Disney+.

“We are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one,” Riordan wrote on Twitter. He also assured fans that he and his wife, Becky, would be involved “in person in every aspect of the show.”

Disney+ hit 50 million subscribers globally in early April, shortly after it finally launched in the UK and other regions, and while the platform has still got a way to go until it gets close to Netflix’s 167 million-strong base, it’s not a bad result so far for a streaming service that only originally got off the starting blocks in November, 2019.

Percy Jackson is coming back to the screen. We Got This Covered has heard from our sources – the same ones who said an Aladdin sequel was in development and that Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan, both of which we now know to be true – that a TV series based on the bestselling books by author Rick Riordan is in early development. Unlike the movie franchise though – which consists of 2010’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters – the intention is to faithfully adapt all five novels in The Olympians series. Season 1 would tackle the first, season 2 the second and so on.
What’s more, we’ve been informed that the show, likely to be on Disney Plus, will probably star young unknown actors of around 12 years of age. This is also in contrast to the movies, which featured Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario...

Exclusive: The CW’s Riverdale-verse (or would it be Archie-verse?) continues to expand with more casting news for the forthcoming Katy Keene spinoff pilot. Zane Holtz and Katherine Lanasa have joined the cast of the pilot starring Lucy Hale as the titular aspiring fashion designer.
Holtz will star as Ko Kelly, a boxer with two goals in life: to fight a welterweight championship in Madison Square Garden and to marry his longtime girlfriend, Katy Keene. Born and raised in Queens, Ko is a humble, protective, salt-of-the-earth guy who makes ends meet as a personal trainer and a bouncer.
Lanasa is set to portray Gloria Grandbilt, a legendary personal shopper at the luxury department store Lacy’s, which caters to the rich and famous. Always impeccably dressed and the queen of her domain, she demands a level of excellence from her “girls,...

20th Century Fox released “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” in theaters February 2010 with hopes of starting a new “Harry Potter”-sized film franchise. The family epic was even directed by Christopher Columbus, who launched the “Potter” franchise with “Sorcerer’s Stone” and “The Chamber of Secrets.” Unfortunately for Fox, the “Percy Jackson” franchise only lasted two films, neither of which made it to the $250 million mark worldwide.
“Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” was based on the teen novel “The Lightning Thief,” written by Rick Riordin. The author recently posted on his official website a lengthy blog post in which he detailed the struggles he faced in pleading with the film’s producers to make the first movie as faithful to his book as possible. Riordin said that his contract for the film left him with little creative control or final say about the movie adaptation,...
