Don’t ever say Scott Adkins’ action movies are ever the same again – especially after Take Cover. Directed by Nick McKinless, who comes from a stunt background, from a script by Joshua Todd James, this action thriller puts all the nail-biting tension into a penthouse for the bulk of its running time. British martial artist Scott Adkins takes the lead role in the new action thriller “Take Cover,” which will be released in select theaters and on video-on-demand platforms on October 4. The film shows Adkins playing a hitman named Sam Lorde who must fight for his life after a job goes wrong.
In the movie, Lorde is a seasoned assassin who decides he wants to retire. However, his final job unexpectedly targets him instead. Exclusive: In the kind of brisk battle over a book we would often see yesteryear but not so often lately, a ferocious auction is underway this week that has names like Anne Hathaway and Elizabeth Banks in the mix. This is for Yesteryear, a novel by Caro Claire Burke, who has had work published in The Atlantic and Marie Claire, has an ongoing short story project called Cover Stories that has a following on Instagram and Substack, and is an editor at Katie Couric Media.
The Dish hears that solid six-figure offers are in from Amazon MGM and Apple (with Hathaway attached to those bids), Universal for Banks and Paramount. UTA is brokering and the auction is in the countering stage and should be wrapped up by the beginning of next week.
What is Yesteryear? Here’s the deal, from a submission to publishers that Deadline got hold of: Natalie lives a traditional lifestyle.

In HBO’s Jason Isbell doc, he and fellow singer-songwriter Amanda Shires seem to court marital disaster debating the best word for a lyric (spoiler: their union survives). Writing is high stakes for Isbell. “If I was makin’ people dance, I wouldn’t sit there and waste my time,” he says, laughing cautiously. “But they’re not out there dancin’ — I gotta get those prepositions right.”

The New Mexico’s Office of the Medical Investigator has determined that the deadly shooting on the set of western Rust was officially an accident.
Following the accidental shooting of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchinson in October 2021, Alec Baldwin–who also serves as producer on the film–claimed he never pulled the trigger. However, a test by the FBI determined that, despite internal issues with the firearm, the gun could not have been fired without pulling the trigger.
According to the FBI report, “This was the only successful discharge during this testing and it was attributed to the fracture of internal components, not the failure of the firearm or safety mechanisms.” They also noted, “It may not be possible to recreate or duplicate” the scenario.
Baldwin’s lawyers have called it a “tragic accident.” No formal charges have been filed against Baldwin as of publication.

Zachary Levi will lead the cast of the inspirational family drama “The Unbreakable Boy” for Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate.

The film will enter production shortly. Levi will then segue into starring as NFL quarterback Kurt Warner in the Erwin Brothers’ “American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story,” which will begin production next year for Kingdom Story and Lionsgate.

When it comes to queer cinema, we do not see the romance between two older people, especially not in the surrounding that is quite traditional and family values-driven as it is, or at least was, the case with Hong Kong. “Suk Suk”, the third featured film directed by Ray Yeung, who is considered to be one of the important figures of queer cinema because of his earlier works “Cut Sleeve Boys” and “Front Cover”, is one of the rare films that deals with the topic. The film premiered last autumn at Busan, while the European Premiere took place at Berlinale.

“Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” is a proverb whose simple existence proves the fact impressionable souls will do so without fail. This monthly column (with a special year-end retrospective today) focuses on the film industry’s willingness to capitalize on this truth, releasing one-sheets to serve as not representations of what audiences are to expect, but as propaganda to fill seats. Oftentimes they fail miserably.
So many posters proved their greatness this year by being bold enough to make interesting choices where composition is concerned. I’m still talking about mid-tier studios (very few of the below twenty-five are advertising movies produced by Hollywood with a capital-h), but even those independent establishments leaning towards artistry above celebrity wasn’t always a guarantee. That they’re using reflections, extreme close-ups, overlapped objects, and uniquely cut windows turning negative space positive is a testament to a willingness of putting craft above commerce.

It ain’t easy being a clown in the modern world. Thanks to real-life serial killers like John Wayne Gacy, who was known as the “Killer Clown,” as well as shows like American Horror Story: Freak Show, it’s impossible for some audience members to separate the fictional horrifying clowns to those who are just trying to make a living putting smiles on people’s faces.
Stephen King also didn’t help much with his novel It, which saw shapeshifter usually take on the form of Pennywise the Clown. This effect was amplified in 1990 when the miniseries came out, and with the new film on the horizon, there has been an increase in creepy clown sightings that are presumed to have been influenced by fans of King.
World Clown Association president Pam Moody spoke with THR regarding the difficulties that such sightings created for them.
"Last year we were really blindsided.

If Savage Things teaches us anything, it’s that if you kill someone’s parents and enroll them in a government program with the intention of conditioning them into being a world class assassin, your actions may come to haunt you, no matter how sociopathic that subject may be.
In the past few years, Vertigo has firmly proven they aren’t ready to go quietly into the night and remain one of the greatest sources for mature storytelling in the medium of comic books. Not only have they put out stellar books such as The Sheriff of Babylon, The Dark & Bloody, and Frostbite in recent memory, but I’ll argue that each of those is ripe for a motion picture or television adaptation. Actually, The Kitchen is set to get that treatment, which was a limited...

Add up all the Deadpool series (creatively), and April’s Deadpool #45 marks Wade Wilson’s landmark 250th issue! How is he celebrating? He’s dying! The end of the line comes for all, even one such as Deadpool, but he’s not gone yet! Say your condolences with this new look at the colossal-sized series finale.
First, Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn and Mike Hawthorne serve up a 30-page main story, as the villainous Ultimatum finally makes their move. They’re coming for Deadpool – every last one of them! It’s going to be a bloodbath, but Wade’s going to go down swinging.
Then – Gerry, Brian and Scott Koblish bring you a long lost, full length Deadpool tale. Remember when Wade got a hold of the Infinity Gauntlet? No? Don’t worry – that’s what the story is for. And yes, you should be worried Wade Wilson is in possession of nigh-infinite cosmic power.

George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road looks so insane on so many awesome levels. It's easily one of my most anticipated films of the year, and it's going to give audiences one hell of an adrenaline rush punch to the face.
DC Comics' Vertigo has collaborated with Miller on developing a couple of books for fans to enjoy. There is a hardcover book called Mad Max: Fury Road: Inspired Artists, which will feature art by 65 famous artists that were influenced by the world of Mad Max. And there's a prequel comic that will focus on four of the characters from the upcoming film.
Thanks to /Film, we have the cover art from these publications to share with you. The one above and the one directly below are the front and back covers of Mad Max: Fury Road: Inspired Artists. The third is from the comic Mad Max: Fury Road...

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this February. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.9 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant stack of returned copies of Holy Terror since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The new look of Darkseid, and we’re far enough into the new 52 books that it’s time for Batman to start crossing over in all of them. Plus Mara Jade, the red-haired assassin who fell in love with her blond-haired man she was sent to kill– oh, I’m sorry, that’s from Star Wars. This is Mera in a jade outfit. Our mistake.
Shall we? Surely!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.
