I mean no offense about the other review currently posted by telegonus. If they liked it, good for them. Plus, their review was well written. But I felt very, very differently about this one and thought it was one of the worst episodes from season one! Who knows which of us are right...perhaps neither!
The story begins with Axis Sally (sort of a German version of Tokyo Rose) making a propaganda speech over the radio to the men of General Savage's bomber group. It claims that Savage is about to be killed...and not on a bombing mission. Almost immediately after, there's an explosion and fire on the base...and it was intentional. Are the two events related? And, can there be some sort of spy lurking on the base?
The notion of a propaganda broadcast making death threats against a specific person like this seems to me to be pretty ludicrous. Plus, if the Germans DID want Savage dead...why would they announce it and give him a chance to possibly stop them? Why not a bullet in his head when he isn't expecting it? Why waste a well placed agent?! Why pull the German fighter planes AWAY from Savage's bomber?! This whole plot line just seems weird and silly to me. I also guessed at the beginning of the episode who the agent was. Overall, a very weakly written episode...one which left me very flat.
