When the episode begins, General Savage is annoyed to hear he has to go to a meeting....and the meeting is off base. However, on the way there, there is a bombing raid and he's nearly killed...and his car is hit. A man comes to help...as, oddly, a woman just stands there and seems bored by everything. Despite this, the General insists he go with her to her home to make a phone call to let folks know where he is.
When they get to her house, the bombing raid intensifies and instead of going to get shelter, the woman begins screaming and running about like an idiot. She even tries to run outside...and the General is forced to deck her and drag her to safety in her basement.
When they emerge, they are surprised to see a visitor. This man is a German....and his plane was evidently shot down. Now he holds them prisoner...all during which the woman (Glynnis Johns) insists that she couldn't care less if the German or American is killed....and she'll do nothing to help either way.
The bored rich woman role seemed WAY overdone here. While I am sure a few folks in England might have been less than 100% patriotic, to have one this nasty, self-absorbed and ambivalent seems more than just strange...it seems a bit ridiculous. Perhaps I am wrong, but all this just made the episode seem a bit silly. Not one of the better episodes despite some good acting by some of the actors.
