Simon and Davey are riding the stage during a foul dust storm when they come across a man that appears unconscious on the side on the road. Both of them get off the stage to give aid to the man when another man named Tanner (Harold Stone) comes out from behind some bushes with gun in hand. The man that needing help, Joe (Dean Jones), also produces a gun and the men tell Simon that they need his horses.
We later learn that the two men have robbed a bank and are on the run from Federal agents. Tanner was the mastermind of the robbery and was the one that actually went into the bank. Before leaving Tanner shot two men dead while escaping with the payroll money and then caught up with Joe who was just watching from a distance.
Anyway, the two bandits along with Simon and Davey, find shelter from the storm in what appears to be an abandon house. However living in the house is a female, Martha Whitlock, that has been alone since her husband left never to return. It is not long before the young Joe starts to fall for the beautiful Martha. But along the way the Federal agents catch up with the two and all of the sudden Tanner tells them that Joe was the one that shot the two in the bank. Joe is now bound to hang for the killings.
Even though it was nice to see the guest-stars on the series, the show had some holes that just did not seem plausible. From leaving a note at the general store when just telling the clerk the problem - to forgiving pass transgressions and becoming chums- some items did not sync with the normal. Cannot say too much more without giving away the final scene but the ending was somewhat suspicious. The young Dean Jones gave a nice acting job in the episode which made the show easier to watch. An entertaining show.
