Olivia Munn announced on Instagram that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer. The 43-year-old actor wrote in a message to fans: “I hope by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support on their own journey.”
“I wouldn’t have found my cancer for another year – at my next scheduled mammogram – except that my Obgyn, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, decided to calculate my Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score. The fact that she did saved my life,” Munn added in a statement. “Dr. Aliabadi looked at factors like my age, familial breast cancer history, and the fact that I had my first child after the age of 30. She discovered my lifetime risk was at 37%. Because of that score I was sent to get an Mri, which led to an ultrasound, which then led to a biopsy. The biopsy showed I had Luminal B cancer in both breasts. Luminal B is an aggressive,...

Reanimated video game culture hub G4 will return to linear TV on November 16, with carriage deals in place on Verizon FiOS, Cox, Xfinity TV and Philo.
In announcing its return, the network also said it will also have a multi-year promotional and commercial partnership with Twitch. It also plans to continue putting out channel-specific content on social media and YouTube.
G4 originally launched in 2002 and was created by former Disney TV exec Charles Hirschhorn, who saw it as a successor to MTV in its ability to tap into youth culture. A number of notable personalities appeared on the network as hosts, among them Olivia Munn, Chris Hardwick, Kevin Pereira and Grace Helbig. G4 went dark in 2014 as its place on the dial was taken over by the Esquire Network, which would prove to be a short-lived branding exercise. Gaming and media industry veteran Russell Arons has joined G4 as president, ahead of its official return to linear TV and streaming channels later this year.
At L.A.-based G4, Arons — who previously worked at companies including Warner Bros., Machinima, EA and Mattel — will oversee all key business functions, including advertising sales, programming and content, operations, marketing, finance, It and Hr. Additionally, she will manage the launch, growth, day-to-day operations of the network through content licensing, programming and production, development of content distribution and partnership agreements.

The rebirthed G4 TV is kicking off a weekly content series — dubbed “B4G4” — to get fan feedback on the programming ahead of the gaming network’s official summer 2021 bow.
G4, which is being revived under the auspices of Comcast’s Spectator sports unit, will publish content under the B4G4 (“before G4”) banner on its YouTube and Twitch channels. Execs say the pre-release strategy will let them experiment with several formats, including original sketch comedy, game reviews, talent collaborations, and music and esports parodies. G4 will encourage fans to chime in on what they like — and don’t like — on the official Reddit r/g4tv forum.
In the B4G4 mix will be elements of the daily variety/news show “Attack of the Show!” and game-reviews show “X-Play,” two of G4’s most popular original series. Those are both returning to the network’s programming slate at launch,...

Photo: X-Men The Anime/Netflix Marvel Anime, a project that consisted of four separate anime series and two direct-to-video films featuring different Marvel characters, was a collaboration between Marvel and Madhouse, the latter of which being a Japanese animation studio known for producing a number of prominent anime including Death Note, season 1 of One Punch Man, and Satoshi Kon’s Paprika (which would be a major inspiration for Christopher Nolan’s Inception). It initially aired in 2011, the same year that Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger premiered in theaters, but didn’t have the same popularity as its other Marvel peers for a number of reasons--a major contributor to its relative obscurity was the fact that it aired on G4, a subscription television network that was quickly on its way to closure. Known most widely for their program Attack of the Show!, which would launch the career of Olivia Munn,...

Updated: After nearly six years sitting in mothballs, the G4 video-game TV network is coming back — with some kind of relaunch next year by Comcast.
On Friday, the Twitter accounts of G4TV and G4’s Attack of the Show! and X-Play, two popular shows on the network, both posted the same cryptic teaser video, captioned with “We never stopped playing.” The video culminates with the numerals “2021.”
IGN, the game and entertainment publication owned by j2 Global’s Ziff Davis, also posted a version of the video (two minutes before the G4 account did). The teasers were timed for Comic-Con@Home, the first virtual streaming edition of the annual fan convention.

CAA has added to its digital gaming talent coffers with the signings of Jesse Cox (pictured above) and Bruce Greene, both of whom have racked up sizable presences on YouTube and Twitch -- respectively.
Cox, for his part, created a YouTube Premium series titled Good Game in 2017, which The Hollywood Reporter notes followed an emerging esports team. He also produced the 2018 visual novel game Monster Prom. Cox, who counts 975,000 YouTube subscribers, also hosts the CoxCon convention in the U.K. -- an Irl meetup where YouTube creators can convene with fans.
Greene, on the other hand, is a co-founder of the Rooster Teeth-owned YouTube gaming channel Funhaus -- though he recently departed that venture to pursue a full-time Twitch-streaming career, per the Reporter, where he counts 117,000 followers. His streams feature playthroughs of Doom Eternal, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Monster Hunter World. Greene also previously worked on the Inside...

G4 is cancelling "Attack of the Show!" and "X-Play," two giddily nerdy shows that helped define the network. Both shows will end production at the end of the year after 1,700 episodes of "Attack of the Show" and 1,300 episodes of "X-Play." "Attack of the Show!," perhaps best known for launching the career of former host Olivia Munn, has focused since its 2005 debut on technology, games, pop culture, movies and videos. Candace Bailey and Sara Underwood now host. The gaming-obsessed "X-Play" debuted in 2003 on G4's previous incarnation, TechTV. It is now...

The network made it official today that production on the long-running shows is shutting down at the end of the year. Attack Of The Show and X-Play helped define G4‘s gamer-culture focus and launched careers for the likes of Olivia Munn and Chris Hardwick, amassing close to 3000 episodes to date. They also provided wall-to-wall coverage of Comic-Con and E3 — two events right in the network’s young-male demo wheelhouse. X-Play launched in 2003 on what was then known as TechTV; Attack followed in 2005. Here’s the network’s release about farewell plans for the shows, which will air original episodes through 2012: Los Angeles, CA, October 26, 2012 – Attack of the Show! and X-Play are the longest-running and defining series for G4 through its first decade. With the shows ending production at the end of 2012, G4 is getting set to showcase the landmark series as they wind down their long runs on the network.

Three current and former employees of G4's Attack of the Show are suing the network and parent company NBCUniversal for allegedly attempting to improperly classify them as "exempt" from laws governing overtime compensation. Sean Jordan, Bruce Greene and Yaniv Fituci filed a proposed class action on behalf of themselves and other line and field producers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday. The plaintiffs say they have complained to network management about being "woefully understaffed," and that as a result of staff shortages, they could only complete their work by working more than 40 hours per week. G4 has ordered a spinoff of its top-rated series "Attack of the Show," where two hosts will conduct wacky science experiments.
"It's Effin' Science" started as a popular segment in "Show" and is now getting a 10-episode series order.
In each episode, comedian hosts Angie Greenup and Marc Horowitz, along with engineer Chad Zdenek, set out to push the boundaries of homemade experimentation. Segments include trying to build a hoverboard as in "Back to the Future II," blasting a Port-a-Potty 100 feet into the air and trying to construct night-vision goggles.
The series takes the tried-and-true "Show" format of having male-female co-hosts explore fast-paced geek-friendly topics and marries it with some "Mythbusters"-style science experimentation.
Greenup is a stand-up comic who worked on sites such as Fearnet.com, while Horowitz has worked with MTV and E!
"It's Effin' Science" is produced by Renegade and debuts June 15 following G4's live E3 coverage.

And while it was a professional high point for Munn, audiences might not see her original scenes when the film is released in May.
During an interview with Complex Magazine, Munn revealed that her original part was cut from the film and that she was called back to the set to reshoot all of her scenes again.
