    The Baron

This movie was bought as a promising medieval funny tale. It follows the comedy of black adder but without the humour of Rowan Atkinson. It is slow and too deliberate in its filming and performance. I think it has a look of being filmed on a home movie camera and edited in the home, the sound even seems dodgy. Not bad for a home movie, but should it be sold nationally.. Well thats up to you. These are my thoughts and I was very unhappy with the film. But not everyone may think the same. I am myself not a re-en-actor and I felt that the movie was acted, written and performed for the benefit of re-en-actors. This is detrimental to the balance of the film. A true comedy has a balance between 'in' and 'out' jokes for all the family and different classes of people to understand.

    The Baron

The film has an excellent idea but the professional back-up is lacking. It has been a long time since we have experienced anything like Montypython type humour and the reason is evident here. The intellectual capacity of Cambridge humour is missed in the film and is replaced with basic child like jokes and humour. I was bitterly disappointed by the lack of material, although one must comment on the visual image. Visually the film is good, the image of knights and maidens are pleasing however the lack of material (the meagre 30 minutes of film) is at best annoying. This should be advertised as a short or promotional DVD and not as a film or feature. The acting is staged and lacks commitment and professional basis. It seems that the film producers used public in their casting as many of the one line jokes are missed or appear to be babbled. The essence of the film is o.k., the script seems lacking in direction or clear linear story. I was disappointed when I watched this DVD.
