We examine the recent Val Kilmer movies, that happened to have bypasses cinemas...
Once upon a time, Val Kilmer’s individual look - defined by a little Swedish blood from his mother’s side - had hearts pumping. Those looks, along with his arrogant, edgy attitude and acting style, helped him clinch plenty of complimentary roles during the 80s and early-90s. Films like Top Secret, Top Gun, Willow and my personal favourite Real Genius were pushing him toward a stellar career back then, and his star was steadily rising.
See also: a closer look at what may be Val Kilmer's weirdest film
But Kilmer came down from a serious high of Heat and Tombstone in the mid-90s when he signed on to the notorious clusterfuck that was The Island Of Dr. Moreau, and only recently has the part he played in its disastrous production come to light.

He could have been another Brad Pitt. Instead he's doing one-man stage shows. Is it time for a rescue plan?
For some time now, I have belonged to a secret society known as the League of Rueful Val Kilmer Enthusiasts. It consists of men of a certain age who adore Tombstone and Heat, and who also have a soft spot for The Doors and The Ghost and the Darkness. And, of course, Top Gun. What unites the members of the league is our affection for the actor himself, mingled with regret that Kilmer did not become the intergalactically famous star we wanted him to be. We also resent the fact that he did not make more movies like Heat while he was young and athletic enough to pull it off.
Because now it is too late. Kilmer has reached the point in his career where he is performing in a one-man show called Citizen Twain,...

Despite having taken more then two years to find its way to DVD (from Sony Pictures on a no-frills disc), Moscow Zero is not a bad film. Sure, there are some unfortunate aspects to it, but it’s an interesting movie for the most part.
It is also not a story about the struggle between good and evil, as the package synopsis would have you believe, even if it does contain a few religious overtones. It is instead a ghost story—nothing more, nothing less. Directed by Spanish filmmaker Maria Lidón under the single pseudonym Luna, it relies on its actors’ performances a little too much, which is perhaps the film’s greatest mistake.
The always mesmerizing Vincent Gallo stars as Owen, a priest who must descend into the underground tunnels of the titular Russian metropolis to look for his lost friend Sergi (Quarantine’s Rade Serbedzija). Accompanied by a ragtag group,...

DVD Links: Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Man, this week seems almost bigger than it actually is due to the myriad of ways each of these releases occurs. The Planet of the Apes Blu-ray release can be purchased as a collection or individually, Kung Fu Panda can be purchased individually or with the Secrets of the Furious Five, the Get Smart movie is out and you can also purchase the complete TV series set, Shrek the Halls can be bought on DVD as well as options with toys, the Star Wars trilogies are being released again and A Christmas Story now comes to Blu-ray. On top of all that I have added several upcoming Fox catalog Blu-ray releases, which are listed at the end of this report. Planet of the Apes on Blu-ray I just reviewed the single disc Blu-ray edition of the 1968 film that started this massive franchise,...

While there's not too many good releases this week we do have some big ones, first and foremost the extended cut of Waterworld which was really an awesome flick. Kevin Costner seems to have this thing for post apocalyptic film, starting with his bit part in Testament and then The Postman. Let's hope he makes more. Next off we have the Val Kilmer starrer Moscow Zero which is a zombie flick, but even better, it has Vincent Gallo in it! Last off is the Lovecraftian horror Chill which has gotten some low ratings, but hey, I'll watch anything based on Lovecraft's work, so check out all the videos, synopses, links and trailers after the break.

We just received word from our never tiring friend Avery that the Val Kilmer/Vincent Gallo starring zombie actioner Moscow Zero will be released on DVD November 4th. In Moscow Zero, Val Kilmer plays Andrey, the head of a group of Moscovites who live in the city's underground. Vincent Gallo's character leads a rescue team in search of a Russian anthropologist who's disappeared beneath the underground system. They discover an eerie multilevel system of caves and catacombs. The film's teaser and pre-order link are after the break so jump through and feast on the moody horror that is Moscow Zero.
