The rights to the title Kasak lay with Feroz Khan since 1977. Feroz was earlier directing a film titled Kasak with Zeenat Aman. He shot the song Laila O Laila but then decided to shelve the film. He later used the song in Qurbani. Then in 1982 he restarted Kasak with Rekha and Parveen Babi. But he had to shelve the film when Parveen Babi disappeared from the country.
The film did not have a theatrical release in British Columbia,Canada.
(1977) Feroz Khan was making shelved movie F.K. International's "Kasak". Starring Feroz Khan, Zeenat Aman, Rakhee Gulzar, Amjad Khan, Art by Desh Mukherjee,Cinematography by Kamal Bose, Sound by P. Janbaaz was a title Feroz Khan got from Salim Khan. When the Salim-Javed team broke up, it was Feroz Khan who contacted Salim, took him for a month to London and then to his farm in Bangalore. Salim wrote a script titled Janbaaz for FK which was to be made in English and Hindi. Feroz Khan was previously making a film titled "Kasak" in 1982. This was the same film he was making in 1977 with Zeenat Aman before he decided to shelve it to make Qurbani. Kasak (1982) starred Feroz Khan, Sanjeev Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha (Replaced Vinod Khanna who was doing the role in 1981. Amjad Khan was doing the same role in 1977), Rekha, Praveen Babi. The film was shot for 2 months when Praveen Babi all of a sudden left the country and disappeared. Feroz decided to shelve the film. He later took the same star cast and decided to start a new film, "Janbaaz" (Minus Sanjeev Kumar). This was in 1983. This new film would be made in Hindi and English. Many have speculated that this was actually his old film "Kasak" with a new title. This version of Kasak was going to be bolder than ever with sexually bold scenes for the international audience. But some changes to the cast occurred. Sanjay Khan and Akbar Khan were signed to be in the film. Shabana Azmi is said to have signed the film sometime in 1983. Feroz denied this. Pakistani actor Salman Peerzada was signed to play the villain. Dan Dhanoa was also apart of the star cast. Feroz discovered Dan Dhanoa at a party and wanted him in the film. Feroz Khan shot the song "Pyar Do Pyar Lo " with Rekha and several international dancers in London. But Feroz ended up throwing Rekha from the film after a big argument. The speculation was that in the English version of Janbaaz, the heroine needed to go nude and do very sexually bold scenes. Rekha was not comfortable with this. She was replaced with a new girl named Tracey. Tracey posed for pictures with Feroz Khan, but not much else was known about her. Feroz held a huge mahurat party for Janbaaz in 1983 where he introduced his new star cast. All off a sudden,Feroz Khan realized the film's budget was going to be too massive. Feroz realized that it would be impossible to recover the amount invested. With the industry going thru a bad phase due to the emergence of home video, Feroz decided to shelve the film. It was a painful decision because he had planned the film for so long. He retained the song Pyar Do Pyar Lo and decided to use it in his next film. Feroz put the old Janbaaz on the back burner and decided to made the Anil Kapoor-Dimple starer Janbaaz instead. This film was a remake of Duel In The Sun. He offered the film to Kamal Hasaan , but he declined due to a leg injury. Feroz ended up signing Anil Kapoor for the film. Feroz wanted to make the film with just Anil Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in the lead. But the distributors told Feroz that if he acted in the film it would fetch a better price . The Janbaaz would have a different script but same title. Salim Khan was also not happy with the earlier script he wrote due to the bold and sexual content. This is why Feroz Khan and Salim Khan parted ways.
Feroz Khan directed Puneet Issar in Janbaaz. Coincidently, Puneet acted in a film titled "Kasak" in 2005. Feroz Khan was trying to make a film titled "Kasak" for years. But he would always end up shelving the film due to its high budget.
