Rockpalast

Thank You, Germany! Please Put More Of These On Disc

Almost 35 years of live concert broadcasts? Yup, that's what the folks in Germany have enjoyed with a show called "Rockpalast." They have watched and listened to a lot of great rock concerts brought to their television screens live since 1974.

As you can imagine, the list of great singes, guitar players and the like is long and awesome. I only have several of the DVDs made from those broadcasts, but they are well done. The most recent is from 2006 starring blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa. My first DVD from this "series" was Alvin Lee's "Ten Years Later" from a broadcast back in the '70s. Lee was the lead guitarist and vocalist for "Ten Years After," one of the all-time favorite rock bands. They can be seen doing their classic "I'm Going Home" on the Woodstock DVD, if that helps jar anyone's memory.

Anyway, I hope to see more of these "Rockpalast" concerts, whether they be rock, blues, jazz, Celtic, whatever.....these are all good concerts. Some were outdoors in a huge arena but most, at least from what I've seen, are from indoor venues in the West Germany area.

So, if you "Rockaplast" attached to the DVD for the person or group you're watching, be assured you're going to get a quality product. I just wish there were more of them available. From what I see, there aren't many for sale unless they are out there and hard to find. What a shame. More of these need to be made available to the public over here in Region 1.
