In connection with the economy of the Goskino currency, the USSR ordered to reduce filming in West Germany and replaced it for filming locations in Baltic States and Moscow. Some scenes of "West Germany" were filmed at "Intourist" international hotel and in the "duty-free" and "Beriozka" stores of Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow. For this, the film crew installed several billboards and signboards in German near the windows, covering the shelves with matryoshkas and the inscriptions "Berezka".
