Between the azure waters, caramel-coloured sand and taut beach bodies, ITV Studios’ hit reality TV dating show “Love Island,” which returned to British screens this week, offers viewers a Mediterranean dream away from their own humdrum lives. The strapline on the U.S. version is “Escape Nightly.”

The show’s premise is, of course, to find love and some couples have gone the distance after meeting in the infamous “Love Island” villa, with a handful even going on to get married and have children. Even “Love Island’s” latest presenter, Laura Whitmore, and its long-time narrator, Iain Stirling, are now coupled up, after reportedly meeting at an ITV party several years ago.

But romance isn’t the only — or even the primary — impetus for many contestants. Instead, they’re lured onto the show by the promise of untold fame and riches. “Going on ‘Love Island’ now is like winning the lottery,...

CBS's Love Island has all the hallmarks of a great Summer TV obsession: cheesy competitions, a bunch of really attractive contestants, and, of course, a memorable setting in Fiji. The American version of the series films in Fiji, where the group of contestants live and compete in a villa, with cameras watching their every move for a Big Brother meets Bachelor in Paradise competition. It's based on a British series that's been running since 2015, but the two shows don't actually film in the same locations. Where the Us version films in Fiji, in the South Pacific, the UK version has always filmed in a villa in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Mallorca, part of the Balearic Islands in Spain.

However, Love Island does have a history with Fiji prior to the Us spinoff. The celebrity version of the show that kicked off the franchise back in 2005 (now called Celebrity Love Island...

CBS announced today actress and comedian Arielle Vandenberg will host Love Island this summer.

She will preside over the matchmaking when the U.S. version of the international reality sensation debuts Tuesday, July 9 on the CBS.

New one-hour episodes continue every weeknight through Wednesday, August 7.

"As a huge fan of the show, I can't tell you how excited I am to be hosting Love Island this summer. I'm here for it all... the love, the relationships, the re-coupling... bring it on," said Arielle Vandenberg, reacting to the news.

For six solid weeks, we were hooked on the tears and drama as romantic relationships formed and drastically unravelled. We cringed (and sniggered) at the unashamed sexual antics, the accompanying sound effects and dodgy post-coital lines - "my vagina feels like it's just been hit by a train" - which often took place unapologetically in the communal bedroom.

How we were entertained as desperate contestants attempted to couple up with anybody available just to stay on the show. What car crash television gold we were delivered when producers decided to bring in a contestant's spurned and bitter ex.

Love Islander Max Morley hurls a deckchair in anger after taking part in the lie detector test on tonight's show.

Max - who recently re-coupled with Jess Hayes - is asked during the test whether he is happy in a couple with the red-haired glamour model.

He answers "yes", but the computer result is 'lie', and Jess doesn't seem too happy.

When he's asked the rather controversial question, "Would you prefer Naomi to still be in the villa?", the former professional cricketer shocks fellow islanders as he replies with a surprising "yes".

Max had originally dumped Jess for former islander Naomi Ball. On last night's episode, and after a successful first date, he and Jess slept together in the notorious White Room.

When he's asked "Would you have rather been in the White Room with Naomi over Jess?", and replies with an affirming "no", the computer responds with a resounding "lie".

There's tears and tantrums from the boys as they take a lie detector test on tonight's episode of Love Island.

Jon Clark - who's been coupled with Hannah Elizabeth since day one - goes off to the pod first to take the test.

Lauren Richardson is asking the questions, and begins the grilling by asking Jon: "Do you see a future for you and Hannah outside the villa?"

A confident Jon answers "yes", and the computer reveals he was telling the truth.

It's all going swimmingly with the first set of questions, all until Lauren asks: "Do you believe Hannah loves you?"

After a slight delay, Jon eventually answers "yes".

As Hannah watches on the monitor from another room, she comments: "There was a bit of a doubt there."

The result comes up as a "lie", and a panicked Jon immediately protests: "I do believe she loves me, I do know that,...

Love Islanders Jess Hayes and Max Morley do their walk of shame back to the villa after their night of passion in the White Room on tonight's show (July 9).

The couple - who enjoyed a successful horse-riding date during yesterday's episode - return to cheers and rapturous applause from fellow islanders.

Max jokingly declares: "I am no longer a virgin."

A bold Josh Ritchie then asks him how long he lasted, to which Max replies: "Let's just say I had to go a second time."

Reflecting on the other islanders in the Beach Hut later on, Max says: "It was like walking into a hyena's den."

ITV2 have finally answered our requests - original Celebrity Love Islander Paul Danan will be returning on tonight's live show.

The 36-year-old former Hollyoaks star appeared on the first ever celebrity edition of the series back in 2005, which saw him compete against eventual winners Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave.

Danan returned to the show a year later, and spent the majority of his time tearfully fighting with or really fancying former model Sophie Anderton.

After one memorable blow-out, he was even escorted off set by security after he discovered that fellow celebrity contestants had all pretended that Anderton really liked him when in fact she just wanted to be friends. Or enemies.

And who can forget her somewhat dismissive observation: "You can do sit-ups?"

Danan also had some heated exchanges with retired basketball star Dennis Rodman and another former Hollyoaks actor, Lee Otway, during his time on the show.

Single Love Islanders Jess Hayes and Lauren Richardson are informed that they will be dating five very special guests on tonight's episode (July 6).

"Potentially there could be a guy that I fancy!" an excited Lauren announces.

However, Jess isn't sure that she wants a new male addition to the villa, admitting that she still fancies Max Morley - despite the fact he pied her off for ex-islander Naomi Ball.

Love Island left us blushing last night (June 30) after Zoe Basia Brown and Jordan Ring got jiggy in the secret hideaway.

The islanders threw a boozy and green paint-filled party to celebrate Jordan's 32nd birthday, during which he and Zoe announced they had become an official couple.

"Everyone's dressed up, spray-painted, people are dancing round the pool, there's a silent disco going on, drinks are flowing - what more can you ask for?" Jordan told the group.

The Love Island contestants are tonight (June 30) invited to play a game of 'What happened next?' as footage of the girls' night in and the boys' night out in Magaluf are revealed.

A clip of Max Morley kissing a girl in a Magaluf nightclub is shown, with Max admitting: "I didn't think I got caught doing that!"

Footage is then played of Hannah Elizabeth flashing her breasts as the girls partied with some butlers-in-the-buff, gifted to them by Calum Best, who took the boys out clubbing.

But Jon Clark is not happy, as he explains: "As a boyfriend, when you see something like that, it's going to piss any man off... I don't mind her getting her tits out when I'm there, not when I'm not there... That geezer looking at them, that's what pissed me off."

Love Island's Josh Ritchie and Travis Almond bring two girls back to the villa after their successful lads' night out with party king Calum Best.

Best returned to the show yesterday (June 29) - ten years after taking part in the original celebrity edition - and took the boys out clubbing Magaluf.

Tonight's episode sees Josh and Travis chatting up two girls called Angel and Colleen in a club, with a tipsy Josh enthusing: "Angel, she's a good-looking girl... I'm single, Naomi can't say nothing and that girl's coming into my bed."

As day breaks, the boys arrive back at the villa along with Angel and Colleen, but before long Josh is ignoring Angel and instead heads straight upstairs and gets in bed with Naomi.

Soon Josh is accused by fellow islanders of mugging Angel off, with Jess saying to Travis: "She's down here on her own and he's just f**ked off to Naomi.

Original Love Islander Calum Best is back on tonight's episode (June 29), ten years after taking part in the first celebrity edition of the show.

Turning up at the villa in the evening unannounced, he shouts out to the unsuspecting contestants: "Love Island... What's up!"

The 34-year-old reality TV star reveals he's there to take the boys on a lads' night out in Magaluf, much to the dismay of the girls.

Jess Hayes can't quite contain her glee as she says: "We're in the villa, going about our own business, and who rocks up? Callum f**king Best."

Calum addresses the excited islanders: "So, I was lucky enough ten years ago to take part in the original Love Island, and I ended up winning it, so it was a great experience, great memories.

"Boys... You and me are going for a night out in Magaluf. Let's go!"

After hearing the announcement that Calum Best would be returning to his spiritual home of Love Island - our immediate reaction was: 'But what about his accidental comedic sidekick Paul Danan?!'

And it seems that we're not alone.

Paul appears eager to head back to the villa to recapture the tears, terrible rapping and Sophie Anderton back-stabbing from the celebrity edition of the show.

Upon hearing the incredible news that Calum would be coming back to Love Island for a cameo, Paul Danan was immediately on to ITV2 via Twitter.

Omar Sultani and Beth Rogers were the latest Love Islanders to be evicted from the villa after facing the public vote on last night's show (June 25).

Speaking to Digital Spy following their exit, Beth and Omar reveal how they're gutted to miss Calum Best's entrance, and what they would have done differently if they could go back and change anything.

Ever since we found out that Love Island was coming back for a brand new series, only one name has been on our lips - Paul Danan.

Danan appeared in the original two series of the show and while ITV2's reboot will feature members of the public, is it completely out of the question that he could be back?

After all, we know that it won't just be the 12 Islanders we've already been introduced to who will live in the luxurious Mallorca villa.

"There'll be all sorts of people coming in," executive producer Sarah Tyekiff revealed to Digital Spy and others on a tour of the villa this week. "All sorts of people coming in. And at the start of the series, that'll be what the show will be about - getting new people in, refreshing the dating pool."

When asked if celebrities could be walking through the doors,...

ITV has confirmed that Love Island is returning to screens.

The show originally aired between 2005 and 2006 with the aim of pairing up celebrities - but this time it will air on ITV2 and aim to match members of the public instead.

"Our singles will live like celebrities but have to win the hearts of the public to survive," said ITV Studios creative director of entertainment Richard Cowles. "Will they pursue true love or are they just playing a game? The new look Love Island will decide."

ITV's director of digital and acquisitions Angela Jain added: "The all-new, revamped and reworked Love Island promises excitement, surprises and fun for ITV2 viewers."

ITV has already begun its search for vibrant singles, who will spend six weeks loved-up in a villa.

Celebrity Big Brother housemate Sophie Anderton has said that she is doing the show to convince people she is no longer "a complete train wreck" after suffering from a drug addiction and anorexia.

The 36-year-old model claimed that it wasn't the money that attracted her to CBB, but the prospect of improving her reputation after her last disastrous reality TV appearance on Celebrity Love Island in 2006.

"I don't need the money, I've been working flat out for the last year," she told new! magazine. "I want to put a full stop on Sophie from the past and I want people to see me for who I am now, in recovery and clean for four years.

Ron Atkinson and Loose Women star Carol McGiffin have reportedly signed up for Celebrity Big Brother.

Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby and model Sophie Anderton are also said to have agreed deals with Channel 5 for the latest series, according to The Sun.

Crosby and Atkinson have apparently accepted deals worth nearly six figures, while Anderton has agreed a £30,000 contract.

Former Manchester United manager Atkinson quit ITV as a pundit in 2004 after making racist comments on live TV when he thought his microphone was switched off.

Anderton - who has previously appeared on both I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and Love Island - was previously addicted to cocaine at the height of her career but has been clean for over three years.

Charlotte Crosby is quoted as saying: "We have cameras filming us 24/7 [on Geordie Shore], so I think Big Brother will be a walk in the park."

Patrick Kielty has admitted that he enjoyed presenting ITV’s Celebrity Love Island, despite the fact that it damaged his presenting career.

The Irish comedian fronted the two series of the show in 2005 and 2006 alongside Kelly Brook and Fearne Cotton, he reportedly feuded with Brook the whole way through seres one.

Kielty told Metro: “I had fun and got paid. It was in Fiji and we had a great time. We just had to go in and watch Paul Danan and Sophie Anderton have meltdowns and spent the rest of the day on the beach.”

On whether fronting the show affected his career he added: “Of course it does. Generally if you’re in a bad show you don’t get work and if you’re in a good show you do. I came home with my tan and wondered why the phone wasn’t ringing. Luckily it didn’t last too long.

Joe McElderry got the shock of his life last week, when he found two teenage girls hiding out in his car.

The X Factor winner had been performing at the sell out Aberdeen concert and the girls, in a desperate bid to meet him, had distracted his driver and hid inside the car for three hours before Joe got in.

A source told The Mirror:

“The girls were desperate for a photo and a hug from Joe. They hung around backstage then decided it was time for desperate measures.

“They found the 4×4 chauffeur-driven car Joe’s been allocated for the tour, and after distracting the driver they hid in the back.. for three hours.

“Joe had a few drinks with the tour crew before getting into the car. Fifteen minutes into the journey, he heard this sniggering. He looked behind him and saw these girls. He was stunned – not to mention a little freaked out.

Mikey Graham’s Boyzone bandmate Shane Lynch said that his pal stands a great chance of winning ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

The former Love Island star told The People that his pal has a high level of physical fitness and great dance skills that will help him on the ice.
