Last month saw streaming platforms settle into their annual cozy season with new fall TV shows and autumn film favorites. This December, Hulu and Disney+ are hunkering down with premieres for several animated TV series, a solid selection of holiday fare, and feel-good movies both old and new.
Disney+ will bring its classic characters together for “Mickey and the Very Many Christmases” as well as “Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade.” It will also premiere “The Simpsons Christmas Double Episode,” “Doctor Who: Joy to the World,” and “CMA Country Christmas” to honor the season. Top non-holiday picks include the return of “Marvel Animation’s What If…?” (kicking off December 22 with new episodes premiering daily for eight days), “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” and “Elton John: Never Too Late.”
Over at Hulu, the divisive new horror flick “Cuckoo” starring Hunter Schafer is set to stream alongside a robust catalogue of various other movies.

Steve Martin and Martin Short keep making appearances to promote Only Murders in the Building/their never-ending game of over-the-top animosity. Most recently, the two amigos interviewed each other for GQ, and gave the finest acting performances of their careers by pretending like they hadn’t already heard every single one of each other’s anecdotes.

Soon, the subject turned to fan encounters. Short recounted how he can always tell which movie someone is a fan of when they approach him in public. “If it’s a 45-year-old guy, and if I’m in an airport, I know it’s Three Amigos,” Short mused. “If it’s a young lady in her late 30s, she will talk about Father of the Bride. And if it’s a guy who’s 28 who looks like he’s on meth, (he’s a fan of) Clifford.”

With less than a month to go before the 76th Emmy Awards, the telecast’s hosts are finally set. As expected, the father-son duo of Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will emcee this year’s Emmys, which take place on Sunday, Sept. 15, live on ABC.
The two made history in 2020 as the first father and son to win major awards in the same year, thanks to “Schitt’s Creek.” That year — in which winners appeared remotely, due to the Covid-19 pandemic — saw Eugene Levy win for outstanding comedy actor and Dan Levy win for supporting comedy actor. Dan Levy also picked up wins for writing and directing, while both won the outstanding comedy series Emmy as exec producers.
“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” the Levys said in a joint statement.

Well, how can we not reminisce with a sense of whimsy about one of the most beautiful quandaries to ever grace pop culture? Fans of The Twilight Saga, can you believe the fervor of Team Edward versus Team Jacob still ignites fiery discussions among aficionados even today? Sure, some might chuckle at the intense arguments that used to fill online forums and school hallways regarding who was better for Bella now, but we all remember how intense it was back then.

Eugene Levy admitted he’s looking at the future of his acting career and believes retirement may not be too far away.
The 77-year-old actor-comedian, who had a career resurgence in the past decade thanks to the comedy series Schitt’s Creek, recently opened up to The Independent about potentially stepping back from acting sooner rather than later.
“I’m not afraid of retirement,” Levy confessed. “I love it when I have nothing on the agenda, I really do. I love getting up and the only big decision is where to go for lunch. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
The Reluctant Traveler host explained that he’s not seeking out any long-term projects, but rather ones that better align with his current schedule and require fewer time commitments.
“I’ll take on jobs that I find really interesting, and jobs that won’t be too time-consuming — but I don’t...

The Team Edward vs. Team Jacob debate during Twilight caused tension between Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Lautner's career has struggled since Twilight, with inconsistent roles in TV shows and B movies. Pattinson, on the other hand, has had a successful career shift, becoming an indie film darling and landing the role of Bruce Wayne in The Batman.
The years-long Twilight debate Team Edward vs. Team Jacob ended up getting in the way of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner's offscreen friendship. An adaptation of the Stephenie Meyer books, the Twilight series saw its first film adaptation in 2008. In the films, protagonist Bella Swan is caught in a love triangle between vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black, a plot setup that sparked a vehement debate.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Lautner reveals the toll that the Edward vs. Jacob debate took on him and Pattinson. According to the Jacob actor,...

So many of our favorite celebrity couples have come and gone over the years, but there's one famous pairing who are still going strong: Robbie Amell and Italia Ricci. The longtime couple have been together for 16 years. Although they initially met on the set of 2005's "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," they didn't begin dating until they both starred in 2007's "American Pie Presents: Beta House." Nine years later, Amell and Ricci officially tied the knot in 2016, and they expanded their family in 2019.
While neither Amell nor Ricci talk about their relationship much in interviews, they do give fans a peek into their personal lives by sharing photos of their biggest milestones as a couple on Instagram. The social media platform is also where Amell and Ricci update fans on their latest acting projects. You may know Amell from TV series like "The Tomorrow People," "The Flash," and "Upload." Exclusive: Schitt’s Creek alum Eugene Levy is heading to Summer Camp. The four-time Emmy winner will play Diane Keaton’s love interest in the comedy also set to star Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard.
Castille Landon (After franchise) is directing the film, which is heading into production next month in North Carolina, from her own script. It tells the story of Nora, Ginny and Mary, who have been best friends since childhood, spending their summers together inseparably at sleepaway camp. As the years have passed, they’ve seen each other less and less, so when the chance for a summer camp reunion arises, they all take it, some begrudgingly and others excitedly. Each of their lives might not be where they’d imagined, but one thing is for sure — Nora, Ginny, and Mary need each other, and summer camp reminds them why.

Call us locas, but we've been pronouncing Taylor Lautner's name wrong all these years. And by all these years, we mean literally since he first starred as shy and adorable Jacob in Twilight in 2008. While speaking to E! News on Feb. 3 to promote his latest partnership with Courtyard by Marriott, Taylor introduced himself by his full name, revealing the first syllable of his last name actually rhymes with "out" and not "lot." Disney Plus has gotten the New Year off to a solid start with a content drop that includes movies like Hugh Jackman’s X-Men spinoff The Wolverine and two underrated Jim Carrey efforts in the form of Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hearts A Who! and Mr. Popper’s Penguins. Netflix is bringing back your favorite childhood superheroes, Sharkboy and Lavagirl, for its new film We Can Be Heroes. The movie, which is set to release on Jan. 1, will show the dynamic duo from 2005's The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D as parents. While Taylor Dooley is reprising her role as Lavagirl, Taylor Lautner will not be returning as Sharkboy. Instead, the character will be played by JJ Dashnaw, who conveniently wears a mask in the film. Dashnaw has done stunt work in a number of big films, including Jumanji: The Next Level, Thor: The Dark World, and the Spy Kids movies, so it's likely Sharkboy will have some action-packed moments.

While it's unclear why Lautner didn't reprise his childhood role for the movie, there is some good news. Dashnaw will only have a silent cameo, meaning there's still a chance...

Disney Plus has added 9 new titles to its library today, and while it’s not the most exciting or eye-catching haul, there are still a few notable fresh movies and TV shows that you may want to look into.
For one, we’ve got some new films that might keep the young ones entertained. There’s 2008’s Beverly Hills Chihuahua, which boasts a cast that includes Piper Perabo and Jamie Lee Curtis as the human leads, while George Lopez and Andy Garcia lend vocal support. The pic follows the adventures of a couple of Chihuahuas who find themselves dognapped and taken to Mexico. It spawned a few sequels back in the day and while not an incredible movie by any means, it can definitely kill a few hours if you’re looking for some family-friendly entertainment.
2005’s Cheaper by the Dozen 2, meanwhile, stars Steve Martin and focuses on the jumbo-sized Baker family.

Cheaper by the Dozen is one of the greatest kids and family films of the 2000s. The original Cheaper by the Dozen was a 1950 movie about Frank and Lillian Gilbreth and their 12 children and it was based on a true story. In 2003, the remake starred Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt as Tom and Kate Baker.

The remake drew in a young audience, with popular talent like Hilary Duff, Tom Welling, and Alyson Stoner. Two years later, in 2005, a sequel was released in which the Baker family goes on a lakeside vacation and competes against Tom's arch-nemesis, Jimmy Murtaugh (Eugene Levy). These films are such a fixture of the early aughts that cast members recently relived some of their classic character moments for charity. Thankfully, the first movie is on Disney+. “Cats” looks like it’ll dominate the Razzie Awards this weekend, but there’s one category where it will probably be mercifully passed over: Worst Actress. The movie musical’s leading lady, newcomer Francesca Hayward, will be spared the ignominy of a win at these kudos. According to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users, Hilary Duff will win for playing the title role in “The Haunting of Sharon Tate” instead.

Welling, 40, will take on the role of Marcus Pierce, an accomplished police lieutenant who is everything Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is not – strategic, reserved and well-respected. But the two also have many things in common, including being handsome, charismatic and charming. According to the character description, "When Pierce starts developing a connection with Decker (Lauren German), Lucifer's devilish traits are inflamed."
The season two finale saw Lucifer taking care of Mom, aka Charlotte (Tricia Helfer). In the beginning of the third season he'll face an "even greater challenge – finding out who kidnapped him, and why his angel wings are back."

Sorry, but I'm still annoyed that we sent Sarina-Joi Crowe packing. It's not that she didn't, at least on some level, deserve to go. She gave a bad performance at the beginning of a long episode, which is an easy path to being forgotten and being eliminated. Still, "American Idol" lost a singer with almost limitless upside and we kept at least four or five people who almost certainly will never have anywhere near Sarina-Joi's potential. Oh well. After dedicating Wednesday night to two ridiculously high-rated hours of "Empire," Fox is turning Thursday over for a sure-to-be-lower-rated two hours of "American Idol" with a Movie Night theme. This is always one of the show's fuzziest and least justifiable themes and tonight we're using the theme as a hook so that Jennifer Lopez can perform the song she has in an upcoming movie. << Continued from "Weekend Report: 'Hobbit' Emerges Victorious in Final Box Office 'Battle'"Playing at 3,785 locations, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb opened to $17.1 million this weekend. That's a fraction of the last movie's $54.2 million debut, though that did open over Memorial Day weekend (when the opening frame is much more significant). A better comparison is the first Night at the Museum, which earned $30.4 million on the same weekend back in 2006.More recent comparisons are Fox three-quels The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, which opened to $24 million and $23.2 million, respectively. If the final Night at the Museum follows the same pattern as those movies, it will wind up with less than $100 million total. The second Night at the Museum movie earned 29 percent less than the first, which suggested that the novelty of the original movie had quickly worn off.

Yesterday, the first trailer for Adam Sandler's "Grown Ups 2" came along, and it reminded many of us that Taylor Lautner - who has a cameo in the film as an uber-macho frat boy - is a pretty funny dude ... a whole lot funnier than his "Twilight Saga" counterpart Jacob Black at least. He's only done a handful of comedic films so far ("Cheaper By The Dozen 2" and "Valentine's Day" among them), but even so Taylor Lautner's still got a pretty nice little funny bone on display in his resume. It's a bit of a shame that he's not done more of this just yet, so in hopes that this "Grown Ups 2" cameo business might just steer him further into the comedy movie fold from here on out, here's a look back at some of the most Lol-worthy Tay Tay times to-date. Director Adam Shankman has helmed A Walk to Remember, Bringing Down the House, The Pacifier, Cheaper By the Dozen 2, Hairspray, Bedtime Stories, and Rock of Ages. This is not a good resume (save for Hairspray, which is certainly passable as a fun revamp of the ’80s John Waters classic, at least in terms of sudsing it up for a new audience). The attachment of Shankman to a project does nothing for me (particularly after recently watching Rock of Ages after months of putting it off, which firmly established that production as a strong contender for Worst Film of the Year, at least in my mind), and yet, similarly, neither does the attachment of Shawn Levy (to be fair, Levy’s resume includes Just Married, Night at the Museum, Date Night, and Real Steel). So how funny then that a long-gestating project that once belonged to Shankman is now in Levy’s hands. Cue...

A few years ago Adam Shankman showed he had more in him than what The Pacifier and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 suggested, by wonderfully bringing John Waters‘ Hairspray to the big screen. It was energetic and lively, John Travolta in a fat suit and all. With his adaptation of Rock of Ages, he only captures a little bit of that previous magic on screen.
For the first thirty minutes, Shankman’s film represents the gravest fears the film’s trailers gave off: no story, just a nonstop, meandering celebrity karaoke party. Once the story picks up, it remains somewhat thin, but showering bursts of energy here and there. The two leads, Sherrie Christian (Julianne Hough) and Drew Boley (Diego Boneta), are partially to blame for the lack of a full blown good time.

Taylor Lautner's foray into comedy for Grown Ups 2 promises to be a "fun" role, and today a new detail about what exactly his part in the film will entail has been unveiled. According to MTV, Lautner's co-star Milo Ventimiglia spilled that the two will be appearing together in the film as college frat boys. "We're playing fraternity brothers. The actor on juggling popular teen comedy and mild-mannered mockumentary – and why he's not a fan of the American version of The Office
Eugene Levy does not look quite comfortable, standing on the sofa. Those Groucho brows are frowning, surprised eyes wide. He knows the photos will work better if he's three feet up, and he's much too polite to gripe. But he's wary. That cushion is just a touch plush. Plus, he's had a run of bad luck lately. Yesterday's fish and chips was followed by emergency dental work. Last winter's ceremony to pick up his Order of Canada medal was interrupted by a kidney stone: "I would rather pass a 15-pound baby."
He climbs down gingerly, folds his legs, looks more zen. In fact, Levy has long pulled off one of the most brilliant balancing acts in cinema. Few are so adept at straddling the super-mainstream and the deeply niche.

Carmen Electra has always craved the spotlight. The Ohio native studied dance from an early age and moved to California after finishing high school in search of her big break. And it wasn't long before she caught the eye of Prince, who changed her name from Tara Leigh Patrick, signed her to his Paisley Park Records and released her first self-titled album in 1993.
However, Electra's career went full throttle after posing nude for Playboy's May 1996 issue, landing the role of lifeguard Lani McKenzie on "Baywatch" in 1997 and hosting MTV's game show "Singled Out." The (sometimes) blonde babe continued to be featured in Playboy, and in 1998 she said "I do" to bad boy basketball player Dennis Rodman. Though that tumultuous union only lasted five months, Electra tried marriage again in 2003 with Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro -- barely making it to their four year anniversary -- and is now engaged to rocker Rob Patterson.

Taylor Lautner will be playing a "fun" role in Grown Ups 2, the upcoming sequel to Adam Sandler's 2010 comedy with Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, David Spade, Salma Hayek, and Chris Rock. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lautner joins the comedy sequel to portray a character who goes "toe-to-toe" with Sandler's.
