There’s a thing that’s been happening in London since 2012 (and elsewhere around the world for 20 years). Faulty Towers: The Dining Experience is exactly what it sounds like, if not what it spells like. It replicates the abusive experience of being served a meal by noted hotelier and ball of rage Basil Fawlty in the just-about-serviceable dining room of his Torquay lodging establishment Fawlty Towers, where they are always out of waldorfs for the salad. Faulty Towers has started a new permanent residency at the Kingsway Hall Hotel in Covent Garden (not far from Holburn tube station), and I recently attended a performance.
Manuel has a most likely foolproof method of clearing the table between courses.
It is an absolute riot. I have not laughed so hard in ages.
The production goes out of its way to explain that the original scripts for the classic 1970s BBC sitcom are not used in this event.

The fate of the X-Men Cinematic Universe is a bit up in the air at the moment. Hugh Jackman’s hanging up the adamantium claws in just a few weeks as James Mangold’s Logan will herald his last time playing Wolverine, and after the muted response to X-Men: Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox has remained quiet on how they plan to proceed with the main series. Not to mention that we’ve heard that a number of the cast members have no interest in returning.
One actor who’s always said he’d be up for doing more though is James McAvoy, who plays the younger version of Professor X. We’re not sure where exactly he’ll show up next, but rumors have pointed to a possible appearance in Josh Boone’s The New Mutants and now, more fuel has been added to the fire.

A couple of months back, rumors popped up that pointed to legendary comedic actor John Cleese joining the DC Extended Universe, with speculation pointing to him having a role in Justice League. It all began when several notable folks over at DC started following Cleese on Twitter. While that’s not particularly shocking, this type of stuff has led to casting announcements in the past and as such, it caused quite a stir.
That was a while ago, though, and since then all has been quiet on the matter. Until today, that is. Taking to Twitter, the actor posted a seemingly innocent photo. You can check it out below, but it seems to depict Cleese in his dressing room preparing for a Q&A. Nothing special, right? Well, actually, not quite. If you take a closer look, you may notice some very interesting books on his desk.

Late last night, a new batch of stills emerged from the Brisbane, Queensland set of Thor: Ragnarok, showing off stars Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth in what’s supposed to be New York City. At the time, we had no idea what the context of the scene being filmed was, but today, we may have gotten our first clue.
Director Taika Waititi posted three more pictures earlier this morning to his Twitter feed (re-Tweeting photographer Daley Pearson) and one of them has revealed something pretty exciting. In the gallery above, you’ll notice the first photo features Hemsworth holding a business card. Nothing special about that, right? Well, not quite.
A closer look reveals the address on the business card, which reads 177A Bleecker Street. That may not mean much to most of you, but hardcore Marvel fans will know it as the location of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum.

For the people who think that the Star Wars prequels were the low point in the franchise history, you’re wrong. There was something worse. Cinelinx looks back at the project George Lucas wishes he’d never approved of…The Star Wars Holiday Special!
When watching the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, the first thing that comes to mind is “Huh? What did I just watch?” This 90 minute special has achieved a status of infamy in its sheer terribleness. It was such an awful piece of junk that it’s never been re-aired even once in 37 years. It was voted as one of the Most Embarrassing Moments in Television History. It was about this project that George Lucas—the guy who defends The Phantom Menace—made the comment “If I had the time and a sledge hammer, I’d go around destroying every copy!” To sum up…It’s bad!

I moderated a panel at New York Comic Con called The 7 Archetypes of Comic Shops. My All-Star panelists included several outstanding comic shop retailers. It was a fascinating time with lots of surprises – remind me to tell you about Marc (Aw, Yeah) Hammond’s Frank Gorshin story someday. We had a packed room and it evolved into a celebration of smart retailing and Geek Culture.
The new kid on the block was Jeff Beck, an ambitious retailer who just opened a comic shop called East Side Mags in Montclair, NJ. It’s a great store and you might remember I was impressed when I visited it during my marathon comic shop travels on Free Comic Book Day. I sat down with Jeff and here’s what he had to say:

Nothing wrong with loving our mamas and favorite shirt, right? Shia Labeouf was spotted sweetly strolling hand in hand in Los Angeles with his mom, Shayna Saide, after lunch on Sunday, July 5, as the pair walked to the car. Nothing special about that — except for their outfits. The 29-year-old actor was sporting a scruffy look in ripped blue jean shorts, a black sleeveless top that read “Beauty,” and colorful socks with sandals (a major fashion no-no!). If the outfit seems familiar, it should. TMZ caught [...]...

Marvel are starting to get a tiny bit silly now. Besides getting people all hot and bothered with teasers for teaser trailers for actual trailers, they’re now doing pre-announcements. This week Marvel’s VP Of Animation Development And Production, Cort Lane, mentioned at the Marvel Animation panel at WonderCon that the studio had a new animated project in the works. That’s all. Nothing special – they currently have Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk: Agents Of Smash and Avengers Assemble.
Those three form a sort-of shared animated universe, much like Marvel’s nineties cartoons, but oh yeah – what makes this new project different is that it’s gonna be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it’ll be sharing the same fictional space as the Avengers movies, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and that thing about the Incredible Shrinking Paul Rudd. Now that’s pretty exciting, whatever it is.

Murder mysteries are so commonplace on TV that each week offers seemingly dozens of them on police procedural series and detective shows. But in the movies, whodunits are surprisingly rare, and really good ones rarer still. There's really only a handful of movies that excel in offering the viewer the pleasure of solving the crime along with a charismatic sleuth, often with an all-star cast of suspects hamming it up as they try not to appear guilty.
One of the best was "Murder on the Orient Express," released 40 years ago this week, on November 24, 1974. Like many films adapted from Agatha Christie novels, this one featured an eccentric but meticulous investigator (in this case, Albert Finney as Belgian epicure Hercule Poirot), a glamorous and claustrophobic setting (here, the famous luxury train from Istanbul to Paris), and a tricky murder plot with an outrageous solution. The film won an Oscar for passenger...

Battleground 2013 is set to be released on the 6th of January 2014 on DVD and Blu-Ray in the UK.
WWE fans will be able to pick the DVD up at a price of £17.99, or for even more extra features you can pick up the Blu Ray at £19.99. My first comment in this review will be to recommend the Blu Ray – the picture quality really is perfect for enjoying WWE matches. In addition to this, the Blu Ray also boasts an excellent match between Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler from the October 4th Smackdown.
I will review this release over the next few pages, looking at individual points why you should add this release to your wrestling library. The event itself was a controversial night. The main event finish was a disappointing “none finish” that overshadowed what was a decent undercard. Many fans were left fuming – but on revisiting the...

“One Night Stand”
Written By: Sean Calder
Directed By: Steven Depaul
Original Airdate: 15 November 2013
In This Episode...
Two couples are hanging out around a bonfire on the beach. They are singing, laughing, drinking... typical twentysomething stuff. One couple, Dan and Anna, go for a swim. Sarah goes for more beer for her and Jake. Hiding behind the foliage, spying, is youngest sister Ellie, a deaf girl with a huge crush on Jake. She begs Sarah, “not that one,” Sarah dismisses her, marches back to the beach, jumps in the water, disrobes, and lures Jake out for a little aquatic sexytime. He is all too eager to join her. But things take a nasty turn when scaly, fishy hands (yes, hands) grabs the boys and drag them under. Sarah and Anna swim away, but Ellie can’t let this happen to Jake. She save him, and as he starts to wake,...

Toying with narrative form seems to be director Miguel Gomes’s forte. Our Beloved Month Of August turned the documentation of a musically inclined rural village into a humorous deconstruction the filmmaking process, never revealing what might or might not be real. With his latest, Tabu (double 2012 Berlin Film Festival winner: Alfred Bauer Award and a Fipresci award), the boundaries of reality are never breached, but the gear shifting narrative is no less inventive and quite a bit more emotionally engaging than his last go round. This time he takes us into the life of a Lisbon dwelling gambling addict retiree who’s implicit previous life in the African foot hills regarding Mount Tabu holds memories of her peak of passion and regret, but this tail, at first caustically withholding and later spryly romantic, is full of rich misdirection that deftly plays with the ideas of loyalty and repression with surprising verve.

Simon gets nerdbumps visiting the Doctor Who Studio Tour at the BBC's Roath Lock in Cardiff...
There's already a lot to enjoy at the Doctor Who Experience, that these days is situated down by the BBC's Roath Lock studios in Cardiff. It's effectively the same day out that was once located down in London, but with one or two added bits. In fact, now there's quite an extra incentive to go, given that the BBC is adding a chance to tour the Doctor Who set. There are limited slots available to do this, and naturally enough the first batch has long gone. But plans are afoot to open up the studio tour element again next year.
We went down to check things out a Saturday or two back. I was armed with two younger Doctor Who fans (perfectly legal, they're both mine), and we...

Principal photography on Chris Rock's upcoming dramedy, Finally Famous, kicked off yesterday in NYC, and, of course, photographers (professional and amateur) were present to snap some shots of the available cast as they were shooting scenes. Within this post, you'll find a few of those photos. Nothing special, but it gives you an early look at what these two actors (at least) will look like in the film. In the film, Rock plays a comedian turned film star who, despite the expectations of his millions of fans, is determined to reinvent himself as a “serious” actor. Rosario Dawson and Gabrielle Union co-star with Chris Rock in the movie,...

Baz Luhrmann's glamorous remake is set for Cannes after a worthy opening weekend, while Star Trek Into Darkness should knock Iron Man 3 off the top spot in the takings
The Talking point of the weekend is the arrival of The Great Gatsby from Warner Bros and longtime financing and production partner Village Roadshow. Baz Luhrmann's latest slice of glamour was never going to beat Iron Man 3 in its second weekend, but generated enough interest to open in second place on an estimated $51.1m (£33.2m).
This tees up the movie nicely for this week's opening night screening and international premiere at the Cannes film festival. Warner Bros' international distribution division has lined up the first wave of releases in 49 markets later this week and Gatsby should be on or close to $120m worldwide by this time next week.

Melissa McCarthy put in one of the more go-for-broke performances in recent memory during her first time hosting "Saturday Night Live." Would she bring the same high energy level to her second gig?
Pretty much, yeah. There was nothing quite as manic as the ranch dressing sketch from her last time, but McCarthy once again showed a great aptitude for physical comedy and a willingness to go all in on the characters she was playing. Let's run down the show:
Cold open
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un tells his people that he's changed his mind on same-sex marriage ... before going on a long digression about all the women he's slept with (17.5 million and counting) and his ability in the sack. Bobby Moynihan doesn't break at all as the monologue gets more ridiculous, which is good. Less good is the ending cameo by Dennis Rodman, who gets the "Live from New York ..." honors.

It's our first finalists results show, "American Idol" fans. Where we all sit through an hour's worth of filler for a tiny bit of news.
Headlining tonight's filler are Phillip Phillips and Bon Jovi. It's weird to have a group we worshiped as a kid performing on an "Idol" results show. Is this what it feels like for an older generation watching The Who perform the Super Bowl halftime?
Oh, and there's the sing-off tonight for the last spot on the tour. While we don't care so much about that, we are curious who the sixth man in was last week for each gender.
After a needless recap of last night with Iovine's opinions interjected, we get some results. Devin Velez, Janelle Arthur and Candice Glover are made to stand, with Candice going to the Top 3. Uh, no kidding.
Now the Top 10 have to perform "The Shine" from "The Croods.

This week, we found out that "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will take place in 1973, a full decade after the end of “X-Men: First Class."
Previously, Matthew Vaughn had announced his intention to further integrate mutants into American history, such as showing that Magneto was the one behind the bullet that killed President Kennedy. Just because he’s no longer on the project doesn’t mean his idea can’t be aped by Singer for a pre-movie credit sequence showing all the ways in which mutants have covertly influenced the way of things. It’s an easy device to make the audience go “Aha!" at the opening of a movie, depending on how well it’s used. (It was the best part of “Watchmen," sadly.)
Here are some of the events that occurred in 1973 that could be attributed to the X-Men, should Singer do what’s right.
The Vietnam War ends.

We’re in a rare down week of awards season, and while most editors are breathing a sigh of relief and/or eyeing the bundled-up fashions of the Sundance stars, we decided to keep going with the VH1 Celebrity Style Points awards season competition. In lieu of an actual event to judge, we had our panel — Yahoo! Entertainment’s New York bureau chief Breanne Heldman, MTV Style’s associate editor Maud Deitch, Glamour online style editor Nikki Ogunnaike, and our own Ambika Muttoo and Sabrina Rojas Weiss — look back at an outfit each of the eight contenders wore to a movie premiere in the past year. Emma Stone, Kerry Washington, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence were delightfully unpredictable at these events, and we love how that shook up the results a bit.

Castle entertained again this week with "Death Gone Crazy," a fun and lighthearted episode with lots of girls and some even better Castle quotes. Let’s discuss...

The usual twists and turns took place from a hot - and I mean hot - bodyguard to a kindergarden teacher and a children’s programmer.
The latest installment was typical Castle fun and should not be missed. Especially since....

Take another look at the Paranoia movie, which comes from director Robert Luketic and stars Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman and Liam Hemsworth in the leading roles! Nothing special about this new image, pretty much the same as that first look at the whole thing from October, but hey – at least something new! As we previously reported, Luketic directs this drama thriller from a script written by Jason Dean Hall, and the whole thing is actually based on Joseph Finder‘s novel of the same name. It centers on Hemsworth’s character – a telecom employee named Adam Cassidy who is blackmailed by his boss into spying on a rival company.

Directed by: Allen Coulter
Airs Sunday 9.00pm Est on HBO
This show being the second-to-last of the season, here is the form I expected it to take:
a lengthy recap of previous salient events; lots of talking as said events are recapped; a couple of big set pieces to remind us of Boardwalk Empire’s excellent production values; and in between the slow and careful positioning of characters ready for the long awaited show down between Nucky and Gyp Rosetti.
Nothing special, in other words. Convention dictates that, like chefs serving a gourmet meal, the writers don’t allow the appetizers to overshadow the entrees. The action is saved for the end and the show prior to the finale contains the ground work for the action.
To hell with convention. Far from being an exercise in preparation, this episode hit the ground running.

In 1983 comic book writer Alan Moore (Watchmen) wrote a great essay on Stan Lee called, "Blinded By The Hype: An Affectionate Character Assassination". The essay breaks down how Lee is both a hero and a villain in the world of comics.
Moore builds Lee up by saying things like, "It was my first taste of Stan Lee’s writing and I was hooked." And then tears him down with comments like, "Oh sure, you get 'Stan Lee presents…' at the top of every splash page and the odd guest-spot of embarrassing geriatric gibberings from the man himself turning up in the Bullpen Bulletin pages from time to time, but I have my doubts as to whether Mr. Lee has actually bothered to read a Marvel comic since sometime during the early seventies."
This is a must read for any fan of Lee's work. Read over the article below...

Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina has been much-adapted for the screen over the years, but director Joe Wright’s latest version stands out from the rest for one reason. The story is the same as the others, but its approach is very different: instead of recreating 19th century Russia, Wright sets the film primarily in a giant theatre-space, a grand series of interconnected, archaic halls representing the artifice of Russian aristocratic society. Private moments take place before the eyes of a gossiping audience, paper snow falls indoors before a fake backdrop of Moscow, model trains turn to the real thing in a single jump cut, and the central conceit is that only people living honest, pure lives (like Domhnall Gleeson’s Levin) can escape through giant stage doors into the real world. Those trapped in the vortex of a claustrophobic public life have to remain on display before spectators, within...

Springfield invaded San Diego on Saturday, as The Simpsons offered up two sneak peeks and one surprise guest (but very little news about the upcoming 24th season) in their Ballroom 20 Comic-Con panel. Here’s your 30-second rundown of the proceedings.
The Panel: Moderator/consulting producer David Mirkin, executive producers Al Jean and Matt Groening, supervising director Mike Anderson, and Yeardley Smith (voice of Lisa Simpson), who flew into San Diego by helicopter and landed on the USS Midway. Too bad we didn’t get to see that entrance.

Turns out, Maggie Simpson makes a rather charming silent film star. Seen here recreating an iconic image from Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times, the youngest member of the family will return the big screen today to star in The Simpsons’ 3-D dialogue-free short The Longest Daycare, which will run before Ice Age: Continental Drift. In Daycare, Maggie goes back to the Ayn Rand School for Tots, where she is informed that her future is… “Nothing Special.” She does look pretty handy with a wrench in this promo photo, though. (Okay, someone get her down right now. This is dangerous.)

When you go see Ice Age: Continental Drift on July 13, you can see a dialogue-free 4 and a half-minute short from The Simpsons that follows Maggie as she returns to the Ayn Rand School for Tots (last seen in A Streetcar Named Marge). The Simpsons 3D short is called The Longest Daycare.
The Longest Daycare, directed by David Silverman (The Simpsons Movie), stars Maggie as she returns to the Ayn Rand School for Tots, “where her lone friend is a butterfly.” “They put each baby through an airport security-style testing machine to measure their future and hers says ‘Nothing Special,’ so they put her in an area that’s not great. If they put her in a good area, it wouldn’t be much of a plot.” And yes, you can expect to see the one eyebrow baby too.

The first trailer for the new horror film The House at the End of the Street didn't do much to impress horror fans, and honestly the new trailer doesn't really bring anything new to the table to change that. Jennifer Lawrence, with plenty more star power behind her name after the success of The Hunger Games, stars in the horror film about a girl (Lawrence) moves with her mom to a new town and learns that their home is next door to a house where a double murder took place. Of course, there's a mysterious neighbor boy, maybe the haunting spirit of the murderer next door and all that. Nothing special. Watch? Here's the new trailer for Mark Tonderai's The House at the End of the Street in HD via Apple: Mark Tonderai makes his big screen directorial debut with The House at the End of the Street, a...

There will be another animated feature film starring our favorite cartoon family, some day. For now, a four-and-a-half minute 3D short will just have to do. It will debut with Ice Age: Continental Drift on July 13th.
The Simpsons shared a quick (very quick) announcement at the tail end of the season finale this past Sunday. You might remember they put a surprise teaser before Ice Age 2 in 2006.
“[Executive producer] Jim Brooks thought we should do an animated short — a la the ones Pixar does before their features, a la the cartoons you used to see in the theater years ago — as a fun thing to give our fans,” executive producer Al Jean says. “We just wanted to do this as a way of saying, ‘We appreciate how much people have stayed with the show and watched it for 25 years.’”

Just recently, we learned that 20th Century Fox is planning to show a new 3D "The Simpsons" short, called "The Longest Daycare" and directed by David Silverman (The Simpsons Movie), in front of theatrical 3D showings of "Ice Age: Continental Drift," which is set to hit theaters on July 13th. Entertainment Weekly now caught up with "The Simpsons" producer Al Jean to get some more information. "[Executive producer] Jim Brooks thought we should do an animated short - a la the ones Pixar does before their features," he explained. "We just wanted to do this as a way of saying, 'We appreciate how much people have stayed with the show and watched it for 25 years.'" He went on to reveal that "The Longest Daycare" revolves around Baby Maggie, who returns to the Ayn Rand School for Tots, where her lone friend is a butterfly. "They put each baby through an...

'The Simpsons': Exclusive details on the next big-screen adventure (it's short, silent, and in 3-D)!
Simpsons fans who have been awaiting the show’s return to the big screen, you may now let out a short, silent “Woo Hoo!”: A four-and-a-half-minute dialogue-free film, titled The Longest Daycare, will be shown before Ice Age: Continental Drift when that movie hits theaters on July 13. (There’s a little history between these two Fox franchises: The trailer for 2007′s The Simpsons Movie was stealthily placed before Ice Age: The Meltdown.)

Today's Leap Day – the one holiday that doesn't have a horror movie devoted to it. To correct that situation, we've asked each and every FEARnet employee to submit a pitch for a FEARnet film they would make that's based on, inspired by, or entitled 'Leap Year'. Our next proposal comes from Rick Kent. Check it out below. The Leap Year Club Charles Ford is an average guy. Nothing special about him. He'll be 28 on his next birthday, but since he was born on February 29th, he jokes that he's turning 7. Charles is a file clerk in a law firm. He doesn't make much money and he's pretty much a loner with no family. One day, he is perusing the...

Hart of Dixie left fans with plenty to ponder this week, as Zoe (accidentally) made her feelings for George well known and we were left anticipating the arrival of her father.
On hiatus until April 9, what can fans expect when this CW series airs new episodes? Nothing special, according to the following promo, just some cop-stripping... and father-feuding... and campfire-exploding... and cat-scratching... and gun-cocking... and maybe even bear-eating.
Watch the official return promo now and get ready for beloved actor Gary Cole to stop by as Zoe's estranged dad.

Principal photography for Star Trek 2 is in progress currently, although we still know very little about the story it's going to tell - other than who's in the film. It doesn't even have an official title yet - I doubt it'll just be called Star Trek 2. Nothing special, but here are 2 stolen shots from the set - the one below features Zachary Quinto as Spock and Benedict Cumberbatch as the film's resident villain dueling it out. Looks like Spock is administering the Vulcan death-grip on him. And the other, above, features Zoe Saldana, apparently in the same battle sequence, as Uhura, using a phaser to save Spock from Cumberbatch's villain, says MTV, where I found the pics; although we don't know if she's successful. Here's MTV's assessment of the scene, which may or may not be a spoiler alert: In this first look at director J.J. Abrams...

What is Repo Man all about? The enduring debut of Alex Cox, it’s a melting pot of bizarre ideas, philosophical musings and potent social commentary, yet it’s quite hard to define exactly what the abiding message is. There’s certainly fear of the bomb, echoes of government conspiracy and the Roswell cover-up, talk of revolution in Latin America (one of Cox’s major themes), and a few very funny pops at religion. But aside from bringing together these disparate elements from the fringes of American life, what does it have to say? Perhaps it’s a fairly nihilistic film. In it’s comic juxtaposition of so many contradictory moral and spiritual codes, perhaps it’s fair to say that Repo Man’s anarchic central philosophy is that nothing really matters.
All of its characters are, at their best, amoral and anti-social and it is...

What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a silly little thing. Just a thing that some people read. Nothing special, really, just the world’s foremost late-night independent movie news and editorial round-up. You know, the usual. We begin tonight with a picture of President Obama and Bill Murray meeting at the Towson v. Oregon State basketball game this past weekend. I wonder if the Prez got a chance to grill him about all the recent Ghostbusters 3 rumors. We’ve already submitted a formal inquiry to the White House, with no response as of time of our publishing deadline. Over at Movieline, the always inventive staff of the ‘line have delivered another of their Interactive Movie Maps, just as they did earlier in the year for Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive in La. The Saints’ third outing is lewd, sexist, prurient, unnecessarily violent and utterly flippant in its approach to wanton destruction. This is of course, the point.
When trying to pin down Saints Row: The Third to examine it’s finer nuances of plot, atmosphere or characterisation, things can me made very difficult. This is due purely to the fact that there isn’t any. This is certainly not a game that aspires to narrative greatness, two dimensional characters come and go with as much passing note as a fart in gale. Nor is this a game that reinvents the open world wheel, offering players a fairly standard mix of driving, shooting and side mission diversion.
But then Volition, the makers of the Saints Row franchise, aren’t trying to give Rockstar a run for their money. I spoke in my preview about the Saints’ intent to reclaim...

Considering Tuesday's (Nov. 8) episode of "Glee" sees the McKinley High drama club finally mount their Rachel-starring production of "West Side Story," it shouldn't be surprising that the majority of tunes from "The First Time" come from the iconic musical.
Lea Michele and Darren Criss' duet of "One Hand, One Heart" (as Rachel and Blaine playing Maria and Tony) is particularly lovely, as is their take on "Tonight." The duet between Santana (Naya Rivera) and Rachel on "A Boy Like That" is also completely acceptable. (Nothing special, right? Or are you hearing something we're not?)
But even though those three songs are gorgeously sung, we're kind of obsessed with the cast's fake Puerto Rican accents on "America." ("A-merrr-eeee-caaaa" sounds so different coming from a bunch of white-bread Ohio high schoolers.) It's not the most rousing version of the song we've ever heard, but it's certainly the best one we'll hear...

In general, "How I Met Your Mother" brings out the best in its guest stars. Take, for example, Mandy Moore, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and plenty of other people who have appeared on the show. The 2011 Halloween episode featured Katie Holmes taking on a very special part as the oft-referred-to but never-before-seen Slutty Pumpkin Ted met at a Halloween party in 2001 whiled dressed as a hanging chad. So topical!
So, how did Holmes fare in her turn as one of Ted's many girlfriends? Pretty okay, to be honest. Nothing special, but not horrible. That's good, right?
The pros: She totally committed to the role -- belting the Barenaked Ladies was hilariously uncomfortable, in a good way -- and though there was a slight awkwardness surrounding her chemistry with Josh Radnor, that was kind of the point of her character. The cons: Something seemed a little off the whole time (please...

Praised with .4 stars,. (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times), Tarantino.s feature film Jackie Brown earned a 1997 Oscar® nomination for supporting actor Robert Forster (Mulholland Drive), three Golden Globe nominations (including Best Musical/Comedy) and an NAACP Image Award nomination for Pam Grier.s performance. An all-star cast joins Grier and Forster, including Samuel L. Jackson, Robert DeNiro, Michael Keaton and Bridget Fonda in Tarantino.s adaptation of the novel by Elmore Leonard (3:10 to Yuma, Out of Sight).
A sexy flight attendant (Grier) is caught in a plot between the police and an arms dealer, and everyone.s looking for the payoff. There are six unlikely players on the trail for a big score . a half million dollars in cash. But alliances are shaky when its unclear who is playing and who is getting played.
Jackie Brown is not my favorite from Tarantino’s vault, but it’s still a damn good film.

On April 14, 1865 President Abraham Lincoln was watching a play with his wife when John Wilkes Booth assassinated him. Growing up, everyone is taught this in history class. What many don’t learn about is the trial of the people that were arrested for conspiring to assassinate him. One of those people was a mother of two, 42 year old Mary Surratt. She owned the home where the group, including her son, John, and Booth had met to conspire on the assassination, or going by what Mary says, the kidnapping of the President. Since John had run and was not caught, the lawyers had decided to arrest Mary and bring her up on charges. If found guilty, she would be the first woman ever to be executed in the United States. There was only one thing standing between freedom and death for Mary, her lawyer, Fredrick Aiken. Fredrick was a...

So, what type of therapist shows up on the previous therapist's doorstep in the middle of the night? Apparently one that gets $50,000 for level one.
"Losing Your Swing" introduced us to Lazarus, Tk's new life coach, and it looks like this could be an interesting story arc. Good ole' Laz took Tk out to party night after night to teach him restraint. It reminded me of a father who makes his teenager smoke the entire pack of cigarettes in the hopes that he'll never do it again.
This appeared to be the same theory, just with a hefty price tag.
Dani remained professionally detached while Matt and Nico fumed. They didn't think much of Laz's therapy as they watched Tk lose his lunch during practice, leaving Matt to quip:

Lucy! I’m home! An iconic phrase. And one that has become the calling card of a sitcom that changed the face of comedy on television, and television itself for that matter. With the one hundredth anniversary of Lucille Ball‘s birthday this past weekend, it seems only fitting that we celebrate her iconic sitcom, I Love Lucy. There are very few shows that I look back on and say “man, I wish I was around when that was in the zeitgeist (then again, I never use the word zeitgeist, ever).” But I Love Lucy is a completely different beast. This is a show that I was lucky enough to get into as a child thanks to Nick at Night, and stick with because of its appeal. Right out of the gate I Love Lucy was a hit. Not a juggernaut, but a hit. Think of it as the Louie of it’s day (in terms of...

I can't lie, the anticipation of seeing this thing in action in The Dark Knight Rises is quite exciting as a pair of videos featuring the Batwing/Batplane from the new film have found their way online, giving you a much better look than we had yesterday.
The Batwing (at least that's what I am referring to it as) has a similar design to that of the Tumbler and how exactly it will be used or featured in the film is unknown and this first video merely shows the plane in transport, at least that's what I am assuming...
The second video shows the hydraulic platform being put to work, moving the plane around street corners in Pittsburgh. I can't help but wonder if this is going to be footage actually used in the film or if they are merely shooting it as reference material with the intent to use CG in post production.
