Featured review
It is not clear to whom the proposal of this film is directed: believers will flee in terror from such nonsense; non-believers will express their indifference, if not their rejection. To imply that Jesus Christ and Saint Teresa of Ávila had a physical relationship (something not subliminally suggested in the film poster) is an idea that is not blasphemous, but rather manifests the deepest ignorance about real nature of mysticism. Poor Paz Vega only has one reference in her life of what ecstasy is, the orgasm, and therefore, when the moment of mystical union with God arrives in the movie, she can only use that resource that says so little about her interpretative capacity. Absurd, tedious, false to real history, degrading for a figure as portentous as Teresa of Ávila, ugly, dull, terribly poorly executed. When the script is a piece of crap, it is impossible for the film to serve not only to edify, but simply to entertain.
