All the paintings by 'Ana' in the film were actually painted by Julio Medem's sister Ana Medem, who died just on the eve of a big exhibition of her work.
María Valverde was long time attached to the leading role of this film, but some differences arose between her and director Julio Medem, and she left the project. This is a matter the actress has refused to comment on in several interviews.
