This is second film after Kya Kehna(2000) where Priety Zinta is the unwed mother and Saif Ali Khan as father.
The film was promoted as being one of the first films based on live in relationship.
The role of the woman and her baby that Nick meets in the bookshop was played by Maria Goretti, Arshad Warsi's wife and Zeke, his son as they happened to be in Melbourne while the crew was filming.
Aftab Shivdasani was originally considered for the role of Ron.
