In the last bar scene with Edward Burns and Matthew Lillard, Burns is wearing a T-shirt saying "Up & Down Club"---which is the Jazz club his wife Christy Turlington owned with her sister Erin back in San Francisco. The club had a good run from 1994 till 1999.
At the ice cream truck, the phrase "on the arm" is used. This phrase, "On The Arm," came from the Mafia. Its meaning was to show their respect to the Mafia Boss who protected their neighborhood or fear of being extorted, the store owners would not allow them to pay for items. Store owners would take their right hand and brush it against their left arm as a way of saying, "Forget about it" i.e. no charge, free, (fuhgeddaboudit).
Edward Burns' then-girlfriend, supermodel Christy Turlington, was also five months pregnant when they married in June 2003. Turlington inspired Burns to rework the manuscript for The Groomsmen (2006), which he hadn't worked on in many months.
John Mahoney played the father of Edward Burns in this film, but all of his scenes were cut. However, you can catch a glimpse of him on the left during the wedding footage as the camera follows Burns and Brittany Murphy out of the church. The deleted scenes can be found on the DVD bonus features.
