During the first fire mission in the artillery unit, a man in full uniform wearing a shirt is present when the coordinates are called out. This man is not present in the pit in the wider shots before and after.

In a tactical situation when not actually under fire, each soldier would be assigned an arc to cover to front, left, right, or the rear, and they would move so that their eyes and weapons were covering that arc, occasionally looking around to check terrain and the location of the other soldiers in the group.

During the chat between Smith and Large after the mortar attack, Smith is questioning Large's use of the M16A1 over the L1A1 SLR, but during the attack the night before, Smith is clearing seen using an M16 himself.
The infantrymen are shown holding their weapons with the stock in front of the right upper arm. This only became standard practice during the 1980s. Prior to that, the stock would have been held under the armpit when patrolling or moving tactically.
